《ASTREA - A Game of Different Realities》Chapter 28

-Slight Inconvenience
*As everyone probably knows, there is a new trait coming into the players of New World. One of the main complaints of many of our players is why this was not in the first place. All that we can say is because we want players to discover things in this game.
There are more things that players can find in the world. Reputation trait is one of the few. And if we are completely honest, we expected it to be discovered later on the game.
This is what we want the players to experience. This is just the beginning of many things to come. A new world is full of mysteries and we want the players to enjoy fully the thrill of discovery.
A post made by one of the ETHER executives was pinned on the top of the forum. It was Aria who was quick to say in the group chat that there was an official statement by one of the ETHER members.
Instead of explaining the reputation trait which many wants, they just posted an apology of some sort which does not even look like one. I expected something like patch notes or some sort but instead, we were given something that seems it was just made up on the spot. I do not know why yet I feel like the people who wrote this apology was just surprised as every player of New World.
The reaction of the people was naturally on the negative side after this statement of the company. Many of which are complaining about the lack of transparency of ETHER concerning their updates. First the guild, now this. The trolls and bashers came flooding the NWF.
However, I am not one of these people who flood the forum with complaints. Rather I am more curious about why I gained reputation points in the first place. I was not even able to celebrate getting a piece of accessory equipment before this chaos ensued.
There was still time before New World is up, yet I am already wearing the ETHER helmet. I got nothing to do anyway, so waiting in the darkness for a few seconds is not a big deal.

"Welcome, Traveller. New World is having a new chapter written. You can enter in 00:01:29"
"Good Evening RiRi. It's been a long time since I saw you. I miss you."
There was no response. I should have expected it, but it still made sad.
After waiting for a while, I was transported back to the city along with much glowing light on the streets. These glowing light were players also logging in and with the amount of it, the night sky turned morning for a while.
The first everyone did was clearly check their character page for the reputation thing that caused all this commotion.
[Name: Cherry Winter
Level: 20
Title: None
Reputation: 2]
[Reputation: Your influence on the citizen of Astrea]
That is what it said if I hover finger on the Reputation. The details were lacklustre as expected. Nothing I can do but observe what can this trait do in the future. Supposedly I am the only one with reputation points yet, so answers may come later on what its purpose.
Now that is done, time to go back to what I am supposed to be doing. I checked the crescent-shaped golden pendant in my inventory.
[Pendant of a Humble Girl]
Grade: Epic
*Critical Damage +45%
*Critical Chance +7.5%
*Equipped: Acquire Hopeful Prayer
-Become invulnerable for 5 seconds after HP turn to zero. Heal 10% of the total damage dealt during that duration afterwards. Cooldown: 24 hours
"A warm and calming air radiates from this pendant, allowing the bearer to feel lucky within. The previous owner cherishes this pendant as her own letting it stay to its condition like when it was created."
Condition of use: Strength 20 – Vitality – 20 Stamina – 20 Agility – 20 Dexterity - 20
Jackpot! An Epic grade accessory.
Everything was more than worth now that I got the reward. I was not able to avoid grinning from ear to ear while I was reading the description of the item that even Luna remarked how I was looking scary when holding her pendant. She has not moved a single step from her position and my sudden absence did not affect her in the slightest.

I bragged the pendant's stats to Aria and Michelle to see their reactions. True to it, they were as shocked as me. They were returning double-time after they said that they would want to see Epic grade equipment up close. I wonder what I would get if I have not killed any monsters like what Luna wanted.
Despite that, the rewards were still great. My mood was currently in cloud nine. I am excited to try to kill monsters again, but before I forget again, I should probably learn skills first. After joining Gold Paradise, of course.
Registering and joining guild can be done in the Guild Hall, so that is where I am going next. It was the new hotspot for players at this time. I need to squeeze in just to see the entrance of the Guild Hall. Fortunately, there was a certain number that is allowed in the hall at a time or else it will feel like a can of sardine if we go inside at the same time. Although, unfortunately, the line was long.
Sometimes the realism of New World in situations like this is quite a hassle. Lining up to use a function in a game is never heard of even in any Virtual Reality type of games. But I guess they really wanted to let us, players, the realism that they are boasting and proud of.
Thank goodness and I can browse the internet easily using the interface, so waiting a bit is only a slight inconvenience. Nonetheless, the wait still took enough time for Aria and Michelle to see me waiting.
"How long have you been waiting here, Cherry."
"It's been 10 minutes since I was standing here, but it looks like my turn is coming soon."
"Can we cut the line since you're already here?"
"Definitely no. Beside that you'll get death stares among the people at my back, the system itself doesn't allow it."
"It looks like we are lining up."
They moved to the back of the line after Michelle grumbled. A few more minutes and I was finally able to enter the Guild Hall. It was definitely the busiest day for the NPC who is working here. Interior that was set-up to appear foreign to us players, the atmosphere in this place made me realize once again that we are in a fantasy world game.
...
"I would like to join a guild"
"Please write the name of the guild you want to join."
[Guild Name: Gold Paradise]
Guild Level: 1
Leader: Richest Asian
Members: 211/400
Guild Rank:
City – N/A
World – N/A
"The future #1 guild in World Ranking"
Quite bold, the introductory statement of Gold Paradise. Although we are still joining this one. The member is still half full, so there would be no problem on Aria's side.
Since I know already what guild we are joining for, my stay in this cramped place did not take long anymore. I am going to check the guild details outside to let the other people have their turn while meeting Aria and Michelle along the way.
"There's no problem applying with the guild, right?"
"No problem at all. Gold Paradise is not as popular as we thought it would be."
"Let's just hope our leader is a good one."
"While you girls finish the business here, I'm going somewhere for a moment. I need to learn new skills first."
"We can meet thereafter we're done. Michelle is also headed there after this."

Who Fixes Books Anyway?
On the pretense of a raise, the relatively new employee Pernie is called in to talk with her superiors. NOTE: This is a short story written for a class I took recently. As a result of deadlines, it does not possess the quality (or length) that I would like and is rather thrunkated. Perhaps sometime far in the furture I'll fix it up. For now, I have much more important things to work on, such as my other fiction.
