Chapter 67: What did I walk into?!

The next day,

Lu Chen sits at the table and asks Lu Xiaotong, " Lao ba, can I see today's newspaper?" He wants to find out if there is anything interesting in the business section.

Lu Xiaotong puts down the newspaper and looks at his son. His son's actions piqued his interest, "Which section of the paper do you want, Xiao Chen?"

“The business section.”

"When have you ever been curious about business? Lu Xiaotong knew Lu Chen hated anything involving hard work. That's why Lu Chen had never gotten involved with the family business and took any chance that he gets to not talk about it.

Lu Xiaotong hands the business section of the paper to his son. He adds, "Here, it's good you're deciding to become independent this early on. Try and find something that you work best at. But if you can't find any jobs suiting your preference, you can always work with your brother at the company." Lu Xiaotong had already made plans for Lu Chen to work in the Lu Corporation once he grows up. But seeing his son deciding to be independent, he gives this plan of his as a last option for him.

Hearing his father's words, Lu Chen smiles, " I know Lao Ba." He took the paper from his father, "I'll be going now," he said as he left the manor.

"Is it really alright for him to get a job?" Once Lu Chen left., Zhang Wenling said with worry in her voice. She felt her son isn't ready to deal with the hardship and cruelty of the world. Lu Xiaotong became silent as well. Both of them had to face these things, so they understood how difficult it is to get to where they are now. As a mother, how could she not worry about her son, who might face the same hardship as them?

Lu Xiaotong could only sigh, " He has to face it at some point in his life. " Then he starts to wrap his arm around her waist and brought her closer.

"And besides, I already gave him the option of joining the company with Xiao Hao if he doesn't find anything."

Zhang Wenling knew her husband had given Lu Chen a safety line, but she still couldn't shake off the fear. Doubt kept looming over her thoughts, "But he is still so young."

Lu Xiaotong adds, “Did you see the look in Xiao Chen’s eyes? I’m positive he will survive any hardships that are thrown at him.” He could feel a calm and determined aura oozing out from Lu Chen’s gaze. That wasn’t an expression a child should have, but a man.

Seeing how Zhang Wenling wanted to retort again, Lu Xiaotong makes a mischievous smile. He says, "And wife, you do know that all three of our children have matured now, right? We can do whatever we want now." Before she could reply, Lu Xiao begins to nibble on her ears.

Zhang Wenling blushes as she retorts quickly, “You shameless rouge! What are you doing?! It's morning."

" So, are you saying that we can do it at night?" Lu Xiaotong looks like a hungry tiger. If they were not at the dining table, he would have pounced on Zhang Wenling.

Zhang Wenling’s face went from red to crimson, but she still nods her head slowly to answer the question. Lu Xiaotong begins to laugh at this as he starts to kiss her more. The two of them are like a newly wedded couple spending their first night together. The pink space around them is so thick with so much love.

As the two of them went into their own world, they seem to have forgotten where they were again. And the poor sucker who witnessed this scene is a yawning Lu Hao who came into the room to see his parents cuddling.

“Ah sh*t, what did I walk into?” Before they could even see him, Lu Hao dashes away.

When the car arrives at First High, Lu Chen says goodbye to Elder Wu and walks into the school. As he was walking, he read the newspaper. While Lu Chen reads his newspaper, he doesn’t realize the gazes from the students around him were much more than yesterday.
