Chapter 81: Chocolate Heaven

The reason why Ye Meixiu had considered Luo Ai as a "pure" girl was how the girl had never wanted Lu Chen and Liu Fei Fei to get married in the first place. However, Ye Meixiu knew long ago it wasn't out of love for Lu Chen. It was because the girl wanted to maintain the four's relationship as friends. Ye Meixiu knew Luo Ai values the friendship the four had and would do anything to keep it. And the marriage became an obstacle for her.

With Luo Ai's reasoning, Ye Meixiu had never seen Luo Ai as her enemy. Luo Ai will continue to see Lu Chen as nothing more than a friend rather than a man.

But now, it may not be the case.

From how close Lu Chen and Luo Ai, if Luo Ai decides to join in the competition of love for Lu Chen, Ye Meixiu knew there's going to become a problem. Luo Ai will become a serious competitor, even more so than Liu Fei Fei.

"Ahem." Ye Meixiu couldn't let this continue as she coughs lightly, breaking the two's eye conversation. She glances over to Luo Ai, "Luo Ai, shouldn't you go back to your best friend? She should be all lonely with you not there." Just seeing how the two of them are reacting the same way made Ye Meixiu had enough. The only thing she could do now is separate the two from having contact with each other as much as possible.

"Ahh, Meixiu, you're right. I better get going now. It's nice talking to the two of you again. Let's do this another time. Seeya." Luo Ai could tell from Ye Meixiu's smile isn't showing her real intention at all. Yikes, I probably ruin her date with Lu Chen. Even though Lu Chen told her it isn't a date, it might be a different case for Ye Meixiu. Well, she isn't going to stick around to piss her more off. Before leaving, Luo Ai gave Lu Chen a look saying that their talk isn't over.

Lu Chen could only give a wry smile at her. He knew Luo Ai will chew him out later. Turning towards Ye Meixiu, he was about to ask why she had been so cold to Luo Ai.

But the waiter seems like he isn't on either side with the two as he comes and brings back the rest of Ye Meixiu and Lu Chen's cakes.

Ye Meixiu took advantage of this as she said to Lu Chen, "Brother Chen, let's eat now."

Seeing Ye Meixiu starting to eat her cake while smiling, Lu Chen didn't say anything either. More like he couldn't talk about it, or it will destroy the atmosphere. Fine, I'll talk to her about it later.

He turns toward the three-layered coffee cake, and he couldn't help but praise, "Wow, the cake looks stunning." The cake in front of him looks ten times better than the one on the poster. Each layer of the cake has a different color, displaying that each layer has a distinct type of coffee mixed in. And separating each layer is a contrasting white cream which Lu Chen thought to be a vanilla bean. And the icing on the cake is a chocolate glaze drizzled on the top, making it look like raindrops.

Heaven made of chocolate and coffee is on the plate.

When Lu Chen brought his knife through the cake, it slices through easily. The softness is similar to butter. But that isn't the climax. The moment Lu Chen took a bite of it, a flavor explosion happens in his mouth!

Three distinct flavors of coffee went through in his mouth; first came the refined and mild taste of blue mountain coffee. Then came the roasted and chocolate taste of mocha, and finally the creamy latte macchiato.

He thought the cake would have tasted really bitter as the three different types of coffee being together. But contrary to his belief, the rich and sweet flavor of the vanilla bean cream blends with the bitterness. The chocolate glaze gave the cake an additional touch of sweetness to the cake. Lu Chen couldn't help but blush in delight.
