Chapter 32
Opening her eyes, she found herself on an unknown wooden room with appliances that she had never seen before. She scanned her surroundings and realized that everything around her were unknown to her.
She wonders where she is and why she felt fatigue, to her confusion she tried to organize her thought from the time she separated from Sora to before she lost conscious.
She still had her cloths on, although it’s just a minimum of her clothing left. To her right were all her missing clothes that were removed from her and her Kriss were place next to her folded clothes.
Still, it didn’t explain where she was. First things first, she had to look around for a bit and find out where she is right now.
Leaving her bed, she immediately went out the terrace and found herself surrounded by nature. Bird cries a bit further from her, leaves and branches rustle from the cool nature breeze.
Although it’s a perfect place to rest and relax in this place but Setsu doesn’t had time to relax because she knew that this place is nowhere close to civilization.
She cautiously left the room and made her way downstairs, there she caught a sniff of something delicious and realize that she made a small growl.
As she continue, she found a newly cooked food placed on the table and found a person that had a feature of both of a boy and girl that couldn’t be easily differentiate on which this person is, but her intuition told her that this person is not a girl.
“Please have a seat. Don’t want to waste warm meal.” he issue to her as he placed down the last dish.
Seeing the opposite is a young boy, she lowered her guard but not too much on being unguarded for any unexpected. She also knew that this boy may not be your-everyday-average-boy.
“Don’t just stand there, come have a seat.” He gesture at the empty seat in front of him.
Realizing that she is being bit rude, she walks to the said seat and sat. She stared at the boy for a bit before picking up her spoon.
“Then… itadakimasu…” she said before she took a bite. Her brows suddenly rose as she glanced at the boy to the dish in front of her several times. “!! U, Umai…”
She said in surprise and started heatedly eating her meal while savoring this delectable meal. Seeing her expression, the boy smiled and began eating his meal.
After some time they had finished, Setsu had a restraint look from wanting a second serving. Her vigilance away ago was swept away from her and she realized that she was completely vulnerable, and yet this person didn’t do anything to her except ever her a meal.
“Pff.”
She heard something unexpected and sure enough she saw the boy’s shoulders shaking, sure enough he is clearly holding his laughter from escaping further.
Setsu glared at the boy with cheek red and waited for him to calm down a bit.
“Sorry ’bout that. I actually find you quite funny, and careless like a rabbit. To actually lower a person’s guard on a young child is a fatal mistake. You see that I am clearly a young person a bit close to you age, but do keep in mind that I am a complete stranger to you.”

From his first apologetic expression had somehow turned cold as he lectured her for the lack of vigilance. Setsu turned bit paled because of it, ending him making a sigh.
“Let’s just start over again shall we? I’m Arsur, the owner of this house.” He offered to start over. “S,Setsuka… but my friend calls me Setsu.” Which Setsu replied anxiously, while trying to calm down.
[A/N: Even though Setsuka is her whole name, I’m still gonna use Setsu because it’s much easier for me on various reasons.]
“I see, Setsuka… it’s a nice name.” Arsur commented.
“Thanks…” she said as she made slight smiles, which somehow improve their relation a bit.
“Now that we’re acquainted, I had something I wish to tell you but I don’t know whether to use a blunt version, or the sugarcoat version… which do you prefer?”
Arsur made a trouble look as he wonder what she would prefer to hear. Hearing this, she then decided to hear bluntly and Arsur nodded in affirmation.
“This is not your world.” This was Arsur’s first said before pausing to observe Setsu’s expression. Sure enough Setsu was taken aback of what he said, she had a look of doubt but inside she is trying to convince herself that it’s a lie.
Arsur continue on. “I know that you have your doubts, but I wish that you listen to what I’m gonna say to you.
Like I’ve said this is not your original world, I had met several of your kinds that lived on different plains but had a same experience of being summon to this world.” He explained and raises one finger.
“Firstly, is by summoning ritual. This is once used a hundred millennium before by summoning a hero of a different plain and sent them to save humanity… at present the ritual had before been either forgotten or sealed away. But, you never met anyone except me and you’re clearly clueless of where you are now so this speculation is impossible.”
He raises another finger and continues. “Second is soul swap… Among the several individuals, their soul, which had died on their original world, was transferred to the body that had the exact appearance or soul wavelength and merged both souls into one persona.
And lastly, is by transdimensional. This part is very much mysterious and rare phenomenon that happens very rarely to the extent of being a mere myth or legend and story. I can’t explain it clearly but I know is that they had cross over to a sudden dimensional rift that appear in front of them or fell to it.” Arsur pulled back his hand and crossed both of them on his chest.
“From the three that I’ve given, only the latter had the higher possibility. Though, reincarnation is also part of their category but that possibility is impossible as well as the first.” He finished his explanation.
Setsu was stupefied. From the explanation that she heard, they were a clear possibility how she would gotten there. Actually she already knew of this but still convinces herself that this is either a dream or a joke, yet failed because inside she knew the truth and this person just brought that truth out.

But suddenly she felt something amiss, she heard that he met several of otherworlders and the way he said it like he actually met one. She also noticed that his giving out quite an aura of a mature and worldly-wise-sage.
Being like a curious cat, she tried to ask. “The way you explain it is as if you actually met them, did you…” even without finishing her question, he gave her a nod but said nothing as he left.
She shuddered when she imagine that this person lived for over a hundred millennium, maybe even more.
Seeing her expression, Arsur couldn’t help but chuckle and this didn’t escape unnoticed. Setsu once again glare at him forgetting the fear she had of him.
“Looks like everything is fine… I’m guessing that you have some questions, so let’s try to walk through this slowly.” He said as he gave some tea to her.
Without any reservation she gave him a bombardment of questions which he didn’t actually expected, still he answered thing that he answered everything that she should know of.
The world name is Oaria (Oh-aria), mostly populated by Humans, Beast-kins, Dwarfs and Elves. There are also other more races, but went hiding after the previous Great War that almost causes them to be extinct. Demons were amongst those that disappeared from societies, but only few who knew of this.
Coincidently, the passage of time and the naming of months and days are exactly like the naming on earth. Though on earth there is 365 days for a year while on Oaria had 432 days in a year, that’s 36 days in a month with 7 days for a week.
[A/N: I’ve change Beastman into Beast-kin. I’ve also added things that I forgot to add.]
Race like Fairies still existed but rarely found outside of their hidden village, it was said that they would sometime make their appearance only on a certain location and time. It was said that they rarely interacts with people they met or saw.
Dragons also exist and they would sometime make a pass through town and village without terrorizing any of it without any reason.
Compared to Setsu knew of them from fiction novels, they are more civilized and had mountain of knowledge inside of their heads.
He also added that in the past, they had an ability to make a humanoid body of their own and change it into their likings.
A thought had come up to Setsu’s mind that maybe Arsur is a dragon himself, but soon disregarded it when she remembers the trait that they had, which she knew from her own common sense.
Monsters still live on the deepest part of forest and mountains, they rarely attack towns and cities. Even if they attack any villages, it would only to the extent of being a disturbance and easily be repelled.
Other humanoid monsters like Goblins and Kobolds, that had gain a bit intelligence, decided to stay away from people and stay silent somewhere in the forest, Orcs still attack people that pass through their territory and also attack small villages but only rarely.
Setsu wondered why they weren’t eliminated and ask Arsur about it, he said that they also considered it but refrain on doing so after the mighty dragons had intervene saying that it would break the balance.
They had already tilted the scale by causing the other races to brink of extinction and adding a few more would tip the world to chaos.
She also comes to a conclusion that the dragons are some kind of guardians or like an overseer of balance, managing the world from those who would destroy the balance.
Though it kind of felt like they are restricted on their work, it’s true that too much good thing can be a bad things. She couldn’t think of how to rebut even if she was given one, it would only be as an excuse.
Continuing their conversation, the two of them exchange information things they knew of and it appears to be that only she had use for this information. Though, its looks like that he is alright with it.
Time quickly pass for the two and when their talk had finished, they realized that the talk took too long and the sun were about to set.
“Seems that our talk had taken too much of our time. Would you kind enough to help me prepare? It would help you familiarize yourself here.”
“Well… I don’t mind, it’s not like I had anything to do here…” she said, while feeling sad about missing her friends and family.
It seems that Setsu had accepted that she got dragged in to a different world and it appears to be that there’s no way back to her original world. This would also help her adapt to her surroundings.
Arsur never had said anything about those world travelers being able to return back, even if there is a way there is no certainty that it would bring her back.
So her only best choice is to live her life here in this world, and find a home for herself in this world. She glances at Arsur for a bit before looking back at the vegetable that she’s working on.
Arsur radiates a scholarly aura, even if she still haven’t met other residence of this world she knew that this person is older that the age appearance he had. In fact, she would very be surprise if he said that his almost a hundred thousand of age.
It’s like Arsur is a god on a body of a young boy, yet still radiate of a childish teenage boy. Setsu giggled in her thought as how it didn’t quite match him.
After their dinner, while cleaning up the dishes. he made an announcement, which she didn’t quite expected.
“Tomorrow morning, we’ll be moving out.”
“Eh…”

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.

Leonardo Montes, the incoming Captain-General, was both feared and loved by his subjects. Souls of Savagery
Souls of Savagery is a series of short stories intended to function much like a comic book series. However, to experience the complete story in a logical order you should read the volumes in numerical order, starting of course, with Volume 1: A Bloodbath by Any Other Name. Each volume is told from a single point of view and that will change from volume to volume. Though, the narrative will require later volumes to return to characters that have been featured previously. I hope you enjoy.
