《The One and Only》C45. In Him the Tiger Sniffed the Rose

“As a worthless person, I would like to have a try!”
His voice was neither haughty nor humble, and clear enough for every spectator.
Whoosh!
The other nine winners, including Hu Zifeng, turned their heads toward him at the same time with the nearly same expression.
The sword slave must have lost his mind!
Under the high platform, over 2000 outer disciples began to acclaim for him excitedly after being stupefied just then.
As the biggest surprise at the contest field, Lin Yun’s act could no longer be estimated with common sense.
His successive victories in the group stage, which included defeating Zhou Yun in the knockout match, as well as the breakthrough in his cultivation during the contest, has brought about a new trend to the Qingyun Sect with his unique aura.
At least Lin Yun made a different choice regardless of the result.
While others would rather hold back their capabilities than causing trouble by challenging the inner disciples.
Lin Yun had demonstrated his keen determination to win without fear.
Up on the high platform, the expressions of the inner disciples varied.
A streak of admiration skimmed across the young leader of the Qingyun Sect, Bai Yufan’s eyes.
To him, Lin Yun, not caring his identity at all, was an astonishment. Neither haughty nor humble, this guy always strove to be a better warrior.
Feeling greatly embarrassed, the inner disciples sitting on the high platform were thrown into panic.
As inner disciples, it was natural for them to defeat Lin Yun. Once lost, they would suffer a huge shame. It ws obviously not a cost-effective deal.
Bai Tianming laughed. “Great. What an aspiring young man! No mater you win or lose, I will give you a Heart Nurturing Elixir as a present! Who do you want to challenge?”
As soon as he finished speaking, the other nine winners felt regretful at once.
Heart Nourishing Elixir!
Their eyes were filled with envy. How lucky the sword slave was to get a Heart Nurturing Elixir so easily!
But they never realized that Lin Yun was risking his own life by standing out.
“Thank you very much, your Excellency. I need to take a look first.”
As calm as he was, Lin Yun merely wanted to test his cultivation, which had newly been promoted to the seventh level.
As a new inner disciple, losing the battle wouldn’t influence the rank. If, fortunately, Lin Yun defeated the opponent, his rank would have a soar. Why not have a try then?
A practitioner of martial arts could lose anything but his morale!
Lin Yun’s gaze swept over the faces of the inner disciples, searching for a suitable opponent.
Before long, his unavoidably set eyes on Su Ziyao.
Since they never had an eye-contact at such a close distance on the same stage, Lin Yun’s heart stirred a little when their sights collided.
With Su Ziyao as calm as usual, no one could tell what she was thinking about from her delicate appearance.

Would she be a little surprised?
Lin Yun looked away with a forced smile.
“Senior, I would like to learn from you.”
Upon hearing Lin Yun’s words, the spectators began to discuss heatedly.
“He chose senior Ma Yianyi.”
“Indeed! Senior Ma has reached the eighth level of cultivation, which is powerful enough.”
“If memory serves, senior Ma also gained the Big Achievement in the Tempest Swordplay!”
Ma Tianyi, being displeased obviously, twitched his lips when Lin Yun called out his name.
Among so many inner disciples, the sword slave just picked him. Was Lin Yun holding him in contempt?
In presence of the sect leader, Ma Tianyi had to hold back his anger. “Please!” He said sullenly.
Whoosh!
Both of them leaped onto the central stage instantly.
“I have no idea why you picked me, but I definitely will make you regret!” Ma Tianyi, glaring at Lin Yun, said coldly.
“Maybe you will be disappointed. No matter how hard I fail, I will never regret. Now after you.”
Lin Yun answered peacefully.
“As you wish!”
Thump!
As soon as Ma Tianyi unsheathed his sword, his inner forces were promoted to the acme instantly with the assistance of his inner martial arts at the eighth stage. The compelling sword intent stormed toward Lin Yun unmercifully.
Raging tigers and Dragons in Rampage!
Lin Yun took a step forward before his inner force started to rotate within his body.
With the assistance of his cultivation at the seventhlevel, as well as the Raging tiger and Dragon in Rampage, Lin Yun could barely defend against Ma Tianyi’s attack.
Though at an inferior position, he could still make a counterattack.
With a howl, Ma Tianyi, surrounded by the violent wind, drew his sword towards Lin Yun.
With the wind gathering around the sword, the tip of the sharp weapon approached Lin Yun’s throat within a second as swift as a streak of light.
How fast it was!
With the assistance of his inner cultivation at the eighth level, Lin Yun was a little surprised at the high speed of the Tempest Swordplay.
Daring not to relax, Lin Yun employed the Flowing Wind Swordplay at the Big Achievement.
In terms of the attacking power, the Flowing Wind Swordplay was better than the Tempest Swordplay. However, given Ma Tianyi’s higher level of cultivation, the shortage in swordplay was totally made up.
Not suppressed by Zhou Yun’s inner forces, Lin Yun’s Flowing Wind Swordplay was, instead, entirely quelled by the sword intent produced by Ma Tianyi’s Tempest Swordplay.
Their gap in cultivation had been revealed immediately at the very beginning.
Lin Yun struggled to defend against Ma Tianyi’s stormy sword intent, as if a lonely boat floating up and down in the violent ocean, which could capsize at any time.
All the spectators were aghast at such an extremely dangerous situation.
Hu Zifeng, standing on the high platform, was very pleased at Lin Yun’s would-be failure. If such a humble sword servant could defeat the inner disciple, his victory against senior Feng would be unworthy of mentioning.

Only after defeating Lin Yun, could he be the top one among the outer disciples!
Bai Yufan, the young sect leader, sighed to himself. With such an obvious gap between their cultivation, Lin Yun hardly stood a chance.
“If I were picked by this sword slave, I would kill him within three moves! Ma Tianyi was so kind to him.” Wang Ning sneered.
“Just as I expected, he has overestimated his strength!”
“Does he really think that he falls in the same category with Hu Zifeng?”
Assuming that Lin Yun was doomed to lose, the inner disciples on the high platform let out a sigh in relief with a sneer on their faces.
However, on the stage, there was stubbornness in Lin Yun’s sparkling eyes.
Being thrilled deep in his heart, he knew clearly that he had chosen the right opponent!
Under the suppression of Ma Tianyi’s inner force, Lin Yun had got a better understanding of the swordplay rapidly by revealing his demerits completely during the combat.
A warrior could only make progress in wars.
Without competing with Ma Tianyi, Lin Yun would never know that he would last till now when confronting a top warrior at the eighth level.
After about seven minutes.
With his body covered with minor wounds, Lin Yun, whose robe was soaked by blood still managed to bite the bullet despite the awkward position he was in.
Ma Tianyi was infuriated by Lin’s perseverance.
Since there were no chance to win, why was the sword servant still holding on?
He did all these just to embarrass me?
In Ma Tianyi’s opinion, the more moves he employed, the more contempt the inner disciples on the platform would hold him in.
Only within a moment, both of them had employed more than a hundred moves.
The sneer on the inner disciples’ faces was replaced by shock.
All the outer disciples offstage had already been astonished.
Lin Yun was...seeking his own doom!
At the inferior position from the very beginning, Lin Yun was still biting the bullet with numerous wounds on his body.
“You asked for this!”
A streak of fury skimmed across Ma Tianyi’s eyes.
Swish!
With a sharp flick of Ma Tianyi’s wrist, the sword intent was enhanced suddenly. Eighty-one moves, gathering into eight gusts of violent sword winds, descended from the air and stormed to Lin Yun from different directions.
Violent Storms from Eight Directions, the unique skill of the Tempest Swordplaygave Lin Yun no place to hide.
Flowing Shadow of Reflective Lights!
Lin defended against Ma Tianyi’s attack also with the unique skill of the Flowing Wind Swordplay with a sullen look on his face.
Clang!
With the shadows of the swords flailing on the stage, the enormous sound of the collision of swords lingered in the air for a long time.
Within a second, the attacking power of the two unique skills were revealed.
Lin Yun, spitting a mouthful of blood, could barely rise to his feet.
Sitting on the platform, the sect leader Bai Tianming frowned at the fearful killing intent, which disappeared so fleetingly that nobody else had noticed.
Being expressionless, Ma Tianyi held the sword with his right hand on which a streak of blood trickled down.
Tick-tock! Tick-tock!
What a crisp sound!
For the first time, Ma Tianyi was hurt in the battle against Lin Yun.
Who suffered from the injury more seriously was obvious.
“You lost.”
Watching Lin Yun shaking heavily, almost falling to the ground, Ma Tianyi murmured without wiping the bloodstain on the corner of his mouth.
Using the sword to support his body, Lin Yun tried his best to force a smile. “The sword is still in my hand. What makes you think that I have lost?”
“I just don’t think you stand a chance.”
He could barely rise to his feet with the severe wounds, but still refused to surrender. Ma Tianyi couldn’t help sneering at this poor guy.
“Indeed. In your eyes, a sword slave like me daring to challenge an inner disciple is already a felony. However, only through holding on to the last minute, shall we know the result of the combat. As a warrior, there was something I mustn’t abandon. I, a worthless person, still have a move to consult senior!”
Lin Yun’s hair was fluttering in the breeze.
Although his face had turned pallid as a sheet of paper, there was still a streak of pride gathering between his eyebrows.
All of a sudden, an earthshaking force was emitted from Lin Yun’s twitching body, as a raging tiger in rampage howling to the sky.
Just at that moment, his sword moved!
His force, as aggressive and savage as a raging tiger, actually turned gentle and soft under the guidance of his Flower Burying Sword and flowed slowly and discreetly like a winding stream.
Led by the Flower Burying Sword, the two totally different forces merged closely.
A streak of astonishment suddenly replaced the sneer on Ma Tianyi’s face
He could feel a breathtakingly horrible sword intent on Lin Yun, which could be a great ambition, a fury burning fiercely, or numerous demons gushing from hell.
When the move finally came into launch, Ma Tianyi could see nothing but a rose in full bloom at the tip of Lin Yun’s sword, which suddenly exploded as the incomparable sword intent broke out.
Where the flower bloomed?

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Naga rising (Final version)
Eshanai used to think that her life was pretty good, that the elders of her tribe of Naga sisters had their best interests at heart. But one suspiciously regular disaster after another sort of makes you question things. So when Eshanai decides to go out on the island to do the unthinkable, break some rules, and nothing terrible happens to her like the elders said it would, her questions start to multiply. What else could the elders be wrong about? Were the Naga really chosen by the spirits? And could there be other people out there, beyond their island? Follow Eshanai and some of her sisters as she tries to find a way to leave the island and comes up with increasingly creative ways to get into a certain Oni's pants. Author's note: This is not a rewrite of my original Naga rising story. It's more of a reimagining, as it contains many of the same characters and settings but will have a completely different plot. Be advised that the two are not related to one another. This should not be seen as any form of sequel or prequel story. So I have caught up to my backlog, and at first, I thought I could release a chapter once a week. That turned out to be unrealistic as I am writing in my spare time, so periods of inaction might not be uncommon. Some of the tags might not come into effect until later on in the story.
