I rushed forwards, heading towards one of the numerous rooms, to what appeared to be a room of numerous kitchens. The lesson had already begun and the teacher was already half way through the explanation. Using maximum effort to be silent, i stand next to Rose only for lightning to anounce my arrival.
"...then we will bake for 40 minutes. Remember not to burn yourselves when you take it out. Leave it to cool for a while before doing anything else." The teacher finished giving instructions. "Then begin."
I turned to rose who grabbed my arm, pulling me to a kitchen set. "We are making cake." I looked around, everyone else had paired up.
Taking the enchanted metal from my pocket and hand it to her, "What is this?" She asks,
I shrug, a small bolt of lightning shoots from her body, and strikes the metal, both avoiding my body and my sense of pain.
"Wow, where did you get this? Mother said that she wouldn't be able to get one for a few days." She throws her arms around me in a hug. "Wait here." She walks off, approaching a group of girls, she says something, the girls to jump, and turn to face her, she holds up the metal laughing slightly. They start talking.
I look back at the small kitchen i am meant to be using. It contains a few items. I stand uncertain of what to do. The others have their back turned making me unable to see what they're doing. I looked inside the cupboards and found some apples, a small leafy plant, small pots of various powders, a bottle of some kind of liquid, and various other miscellaneous foods. I look back at Rose who is still talking, and then i stand still for the next few minutes trying to figgure out what to do. Rose eventually returns.

After class i change into myth, and knock on Rose's room door. "Come in." she says.
I enter carefully, her room was not as much of a mess as i found it the day before, and ask, "Is there anything i can do for you, young lady?"
She fiddles with the enchanted metal, "No, not today." She says absent mindedly.
I clean up her room anyway. "Would you like your food delivered to your room today?" I ask.
She looks up, surprised that i am still here, "No, i'll eat with everyone else." She said. "If you were a warrior, what would you like as a gift?" She asks.
I pause, "Why do you ask?" I say.
"Well i was given this, and i want to repay him." She says.
"Why don't you ask him?" I speak uncertainly, avoiding answering.
"I wan't it to be a surprise." She says.
My head hurts like it's filled with iron, "you know everyone will have a different opinion though, isn't there a better person to ask?"
She pauses for a second, and then another, and then speaks. "How about a dagger?"
I sigh, "Is that even allowed?"
"I'll ask mother."
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" I speak as if it was a bad idea.
"Why wouldn't it be?" She speaks as if it's not.
I pause thinking of something to say, a knock apon the door sounds out. I open the door, it was the girls from before. "Rose?" They called out.
"Let them in." Says Rose.
I open the door wide for them to enter. With a slight bow, "I apolgise, but i am needed elsewhere." I excuse myself. And close the door, leaving.

The next mourning i delivered the food with a different servant, i poured the drinks as before.
"Oh, and look at this." Rose showed Sapphire the enchanted metal.
"What is it?" Sapphire asks.
"It absorbs lightning." Rose says.
Sapphire looks surprised, "Where did you get that?" She sounds surprised.
"It was a gift." Rose says.
"Who gave it to you?" Sapphire asks, in a tone that was barely asking.
"A boy." Rose says. I feel my life shortening.
"Which boy?" Sapphire, somehkw manages to make each question sound slightly less like a question everytime she speaks.
"Lore." Rose smiles brightly when she says that name, sapphire frowns darkly when she hears it.
Rose continues, "I want to give him something in return, do you have any ideas?"
Sapphire smiles slightly, "how about a knife." The way she said it made my back feel like it was being pressed into the cold of a dagger's blade.
Rose smiles, "I said that, but Myth thought it wouldn't be allowed."
Sapphire turned, looking straight into my eyes, chilling my very soul. "I wonder why."

Malt the Manslayer
This story does not follow a hero. Malt doesn’t slay dragons with a holy sword nor is he granted immense magical power when he transfers. Unlike his three classmates, he was brought into the new world not as a mythical hero, but with stats comparable if not worse than the average townsfolk. Assaulted by feelings of inadequacy and weakness, he leaves the comfortable castle life that the royalty offered him and decides to help his new country in the only way he thinks he can. By joining the war on the southern border. Not a war against mythical beasts or powerful demons, but against other humans. He thought that he’d finish a single deployment then come back to the castle, proud enough to stand beside his friends again. Little did he know that he’d become one of the most feared fighters on the battlefield, killing so many that he’d earn the moniker, “Malt the Manslayer.”

The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]

ALmond
When Max O'Brien receives an almond with a skull painted on it, he initially plays it off as a prank. But, after his wife leaves town, he begins discovering more of the nuts hidden around the house. More disturbing than that is that some unseen intruder is keeping an accurate running count. The more almonds Max finds, the stranger things get. Mysterious noises. Moving objects. Damaged valuables. It's a haunting that grows in power with each success in the involuntary scavenger hunt. As the almonds pile up so do the threats until Max realizes he may just not survive. ____________________________________________________________________________ Author note - This is a short work originally written for Wattpad's Novella Contest (finished second overall). It's a total of 11 chapters and just about 23k words. I'll post a chapter every 2-3 days so it'll wrap up fairly quickly. Anyone in the mood for a quick goofy/creepy read should give it a try. Thanks.
