《After Life》Chapter 24.2: The Storm
Advertisement
In what felt like no time at all the Ultra Blood Hunters pierce the front ranks of the NGP. They plow through powerful Ultras in an instant. The mighty Sierra Rose manages to hold her own against Thunder for a little while, but with the arrival of Toxic’s poison sludge, she falls into a weakened state. Unable to defend herself any longer, she finally succumbs to Gemming’s water attacks, effectively drowning her and rendering her unconscious. Within moments many of the humans find the same fate as Sierra. The first gen hunters greedily swoop in collecting the prized bodies dragging them back to the human bunker.
Cain laughs, forcing his storm power harder, “You’re doom is nigh!”
“Not while I still have hope of bringing Dimitri back!” retorts Cole.
Shado materializes up out of a shadow between Cole and Arch. He calls to Arch just before doing a running dive into another shadow, “I hope you know you asked for this!”
Sariph’s arrival was felt by all long before he ever appeared. It was the feeling of sensing an earthquake just before experiencing the waves. The battle pauses with everyone and every thing looking up to the sky. Dark energy fills the air combining into the clouds giving them a dark blue hue. A deafening crack of black lighting strikes the earth leaving a crater. Slowly the demon materializes, rising up out of the shadow of the crater. His eyes are closed, and his arms folded. Large curved horns slowly grow and extend out of his shoulders. His overall size is already substantial allowing him to tower over the battlefield.
Sariph opens his eyes seeing the battle for the first time. He rotates his head back and forth before letting out an unholy cry. It startles everyone causing them to stumble. Black mist oozes out of his mouth collecting on the ground as though it was from a fog machine. The mist spreads outward, refusing to be dispersed by the heavy winds. This new feature gives the battle ground a new meaning of darkness in the already black super storms.

Sariph’s unleashes attacks that are relentless and shockingly fast. His presence on the battlefield is accented during the abundance of flashing lightning. With his ability to teleport through shadows, Sariph is unpredictable, attacking all parts of the battle within seconds. Luckily for the NGP Sariph’s attention is captured mostly by the Blood Hunters since they are of the largest force. In one moment he’s grabbing handfuls of first gen hunters, biting their heads off. Then with the next flash, he’s instantly on the other side of the battle, greedily devouring more. With each head swallowed it appears he’s slurping their soul as a dark blue light is sucked from the body into the demon's mouth.
The Blood Hunters scream as their collective attention turns to Sariph. The first gen hunters swarm in a clockwise motion as the Ultra Blood Hunters make their way to the center, to the demon. They act like wolves nipping at Sariph’s heels attempting to overwhelm him. In response four long tentacles shoot out of Sariph’s waist. Each tentacle is protected by black armored scales with small thorns protruding from them. They snake their way through the mass of bodies coiling around dozens of hunters at a time. The hunters attempt to escape by slashing with their sharp claws but they soon find they are unbreakable. Once ensnared, struggling only causes the thorns to pierce deeper, increasing the grip.

My Hundredth Life
I was an ordinary guy, living an ordinary life, until it happened. What we came to call the "Reality Break". Monsters started spawning in the streets, Mana flowed through our veins, Skills and Abilities were unlocked, and everyone had a Status Screen. I was living my dream, an RPG apocalypse! Until I died, that is. And woke up in a new world...where I died again. And again. With each death, a new incarnation, a new game world, and new scars upon my soul. Now, at my 99th death, I just wish it would end...but unlike in some of the worlds I have "played" in, this time my wish is not granted. *** Author's Note: This is my first 'serious' attempt at writing a story. I am hoping to turn ths into a series that I can publish to Amazon, but my life is a bit hectic right now, so I can't make any guarantees. However, I have serious reasons for writing at this point in my life, so I will do my best to provide this new twist to the LitRPG genre and keep it up for as long as possible. Thank you, to anyone who reads this. *Also, tags might change depending on how the story goes, there may be mild profanity or mild sexual content, but I have not decided yet.

Time Can't Heal This
I've always hated the saying "Time heals all wounds." Maybe in most cases that may be true. In my experience with life and pain however, time has only ever bled out the wound. The scars that the wounds left behind though, are often so deep that just looking at them becomes painful to the mind. Time only heals what you let go of. Sometimes letting go and moving on just doesn't feel possible; no matter how much time you let pass you by.These poems signify what time hasn't healed for me.
