《Vienna's Game》Chapter 14

The little girl turned around, I could see her smile, but her eyes seemed soulless.
“The plan is pretty simple; all you have to do is kill the Demon Lord.”
I have a feeling that this situation is going to turn a bit generic.
“The Demon Lord?”
“Or should I say the future Demon Lord… chances are you may even die.”
“I may die?!”
My eyes widened as I felt my spine quiver.
“You did say that you are willing to sacrifice yourself if I meant to save as many people as possible.”
“But what about my students?”
“Your students will be fine; do you not trust them to live a proper and fulfilling life without you?”
“I-I do trust them… now, let’s fix our focus… what do you mean by the future Demon Lord.”
“I see they haven’t told you yet.”
“Told me what?”
“The current Demon Empire does not have a Demon Lord, but in ten years, a new Demon Lord will rise into power and bring the war to this world.”
This is just a generic isekai plot now…
“But this Demon Lord… umm, what makes them different?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean back in my world stories of a Demon Lord plunging the world into war is just a bit, umm, I don’t know, too common I guess is the best way to put it.”
“Are you mocking me?”
“N-no, I mean, I just feel like a Demon Lord is a bit of generic villain for me to face.”
“Are you saying that someone rising to become the Demon Lord and causing a war that will involve the entire world, an easy villain?”
“N-no, I’m just saying that people will have a problem with it.”
“What kind of people.”
“I don’t know, people who are probably observing this situation right now.”

“What?”
“N-nothing… anyways, Demon Lord. What’s the big deal about them?”
“This Demon Lord, I believe will bring nothing but chaos and destruction, to force this world to change.”
“Isn’t that a good thing though? Didn’t you say that this world will be stagnating? A war or two to force people to change doesn’t seem like a bad thing.”
“But what if your students die?”
“I-I mean… I will save them before that happens.”
“Will you now?”
“Yes, I will, it is my duty.”
The little girl then scoffed at me.
“You really are an interesting person, a teacher willing to do anything for her students.”
“Well then… going back to the Demon Lord, if the Demons conquer this world, this world would be plunged into darkness.”
“Why is that?”
“If you remember correctly, the Demons use their Spirit Essence to exchange for Dark Essence, but do you know that there is a trade-off for doing such thing?”
“A trade-off?”
“Yes. Those who have too much Dark Essence start to lose their sanity.”
“Their sanity?”
“They go insane from the amount of power surging through their body. It is the cost of being able to use less Spirit Essence in exchange for Dark Essence.”
“W-what?”
“As you may remember, it takes five Spirit Essence to gain one Light Essence.”
“Yes.”
“But it takes three Spirit Essence to gain one Dark Essence.”
“Doesn’t that… seem unfair?”
“Which part the losing sanity or the cheaper trade?”
“Both.”
“There are those who evolved to not lose their sanity so easily, such as the Demons.”
“That's amazing.”
“Don’t go worshiping the enemy now, I can see your eyes sparkling.”
I slapped my cheeks lightly.
“S-sorry I lost my composure, s-so, I assumed that those who haven’t evolved to not be able to lose their sanity easily will be killed?”

“Your assumption is correct.”
“I’m also assuming this evolutionary trait is merely just a skill that developed randomly.”
“Yes.”
“Can you tell me this skill?”
“The skill?”
“Yes, the skill.”
“I-I do not know.”
“You don’t know?”
“Y-yes.”
“Man, for someone who has been observing, you sure suck at it.”
“I-I do not know what you are talking about, that’s it, yeah… I just don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Sure, you don’t… Anyways, since you clearly don’t know, what would I need to do to make this plan of yours work?”
“My plan?”
“Yes, your plan, I’m assuming your plan is a lot more thought-out than simply just killing the Demon Lord in ten years.”
“W-well… I guess the first step is preparing a force strong enough to take down the Demon Lord. But with the current state of humanity…”
“What do you mean by that?”
“I mean, humanity, or should I say the kingdom that you are the princess of, is on the brink of civil war due to multiple legitimate claims for the throne.”
“I guess I will have to get on the throne, or… place a puppet on the throne who will listen to me and only me.”
“Do you have a plan for that?”
“A plan? Of course not, I am in a new world that I barely understand, for now, all I can do is be reactive to whatever happens and set up traps whenever I can.”
“Do you intend to take part in the political struggle for your adoptive father’s throne?”
“Throne?”
“I guess so.”
“But what will happen when your father dies?”
“What do you mean?”
“According to the ritual’s rule, since his blood was used to summon you, you are bound to him until he dies.”
“I guess I could bound myself to someone else.”
“Why not me?”
“You? But don’t you need a physical body?”
“Just a physical body, not a living one.”
“Hmm… what about my body then?”
“Wh-what?”
“I mean I am a homunculus, surely the body can handle more than one soul.”
“A-are you insane?!”
“Perhaps. But it is that insanity that makes it unpredictable.”
“Unpredictable?”
“Think about it, my only weakness is currently my father, but if I bound myself to someone else in my body, then that removes the 2-bodies-for-1 deal.”
“I see… that is quite ingenious.”
“Well, I am a teacher after all.”
“But how do you think it can be done?”
“I will find a way, or should I say, we will find a way.”
“We?”
“Don’t you think I will let you sit idly by? I will find a way to contact you first, then I will figure out how to perform the ritual that summons me. Afterward, I will simply modify it for us, so we can share bodies.”
“All the while your other family members fight for the throne?”
“I have to eliminate as many weaknesses as possible while setting traps. That way, I can make sure that I am free to maneuver how I please without worry. I will show them that I am not some sacrificial pawn…”
“I see. It seems like you have this thought-out, so I will end this dream state of yours right now, and will send you back to reality.”
“Alright… by the way, before you send me back, what is your name?”
“My name?”
“Yes.”
“Scythia…”
