Revelation
When we arrived upstairs, Selma was already sitting behind the counter. She was staring out the window curiously looking at the Phoenix fire ball in the sky.
I coughed to let her know I was in the room. Selma looked up at me. “Logan, you’re here. Grandma is waiting for you upstairs.” She said. She eyed Riley behind me and jumped. Suddenly she pulled me aside and whispered in my ear. "Who is that hot chick behind you?” she asked taking small glimpses at Riley.
I chuckled and looked at her weirdly. Did she just call Riley that hot chick? “That’s Riley. You guys met yesterday, remember?” I said raising my eye brows.
She furrowed. “I didn’t. I would remember if I’d met such a cutie pie.” She said waving at Riley, smiling brightly. “The only other person I met yesterday was that little brat.” she said.
This girl was she one of those legendary lesbians? I chuckled and smiled at her. “That little brat and this young woman is one and the same. Remember the fire downstairs yesterday. That was Riley’s rebirth. She grew up after her rebirth.” I said.
Selma's jaw dropped. “But that kid was a boy. She's a girl and she's not a little kid” She said her mouth unable to close.
I sighed, I know the feeling too. I was so surprised yesterday as well. Now it was time for others to feel what I felt. “Riley is 18. She just couldn’t grow up because she needed to activate rebirth.” I explained.
“Oh, that means she’s the same age as me. That’s good. I have a chance then. I don’t want to be chasing a child around.” She giggled. I rolled my eyes, why would you want to chase a girl around.
I sighed, This girl really was one of those legendary lesbians. “Do whatever you like” I said. Then walked upstairs. Riley wanted to follow me upstairs, but Selma stopped her and started chit chatting with her. Riley started talking with Selma. She seemed to really hit it off with her. Riley looked awkward at first, but soon warmed up to Selma. I guess this was the first time she really talked to a girl. She was always used to hiding herself behind a boys' façade. I looked down at Riley, she seemed very happy now that she was no longer hiding.

I decided to just let it be for now. Riley can talk with Selma for now, I needed to talk to aunt Penelope. I shrugged my shoulders and walked away.
I knocked on the door and aunt Penelope opened, welcoming me inside.
Inside, the room was not very big, but every wall was filled with books. I glanced at a few of the titles and they were almost entirely written in the old language of the healers. Was aunt Penelope a healer too? But when I read the titles they were not about healing. Some of them were history text. While most were about witchcraft. One was called 180 ways to create a Talisman. Another read, how to tell a cat apart from a were cat. There were so many books that I was getting anxious. I liked reading.
Aunt Penelope coughed. I took my gaze away from the books and looked across the room. She was sitting behind an old oak table. A few books were open on the table. They were also all written in the old healer language. I was beginning to wonder if that was really the healer language. None of them were about healing.
“Sit down Logan” she said pointing to the chair across from her.
I sat. “Aunt Penelope, what did you want to tell me?” I asked.
“Logan can you read the old language?” she asked pointing down at the book in front of her.
I looked at the book. It was a book about warding. I nodded my head.
“Good, I guess Kohl did not falter when it came to your education. How much of the old language can you read?” she asked.
“All of them” I said. Wasn't that obvious. I could read the old language, then I can read all of them.
She looked at me weirdly. "All of them. So, you’re telling me you can read every word in this book?” she asked. She lifted the book and handed it to me.

I took the book and read through the pages. I was right, this was about how to set up something called the five-point warding. “Yeah, I can read it all. Master taught me very thoroughly.” I said.
“Okay, read me what that page says” She requested.
I did what she asked. When I finished her eyes lit. “This is excellent. So, you aren’t like the rest of us.” She mumbled under her breath.
I looked at her weirdly. Was it that amazing that I could read these few pages of the old language. I had mastered it at age 8 after all.
She took the book from me and handed me another one. She instructed me to read it aloud once again. I did. This one was about the distinction between the ferret fairy and the bonnet fairy. It was interesting, but nothing to ground breaking.
“This is excellent” she said. Then she looked at me and sighed. “What a shame to waste your talents on protecting that useless book.” She said.
I tensed up. She called the book of divine a useless book. Lady this book is the most sought-after book in all of history. You at least should give it some credit.
She eyed me. “I know you must feel that book is the most special thing in the world. But I think it’s just trouble. If it was the original, then sure it would definitely be very special. It would be the most precious thing in the world, but it is only a copy. And if what I guess is right it’s not even a very good copy either.” She said.
I blanked. What did she mean? This book had the full history of the five kingdoms and it contain the 99 spells of the divine art. How could it be wrong?
“I know you won’t believe me. Even Kohl did not believe me when I told him about it years ago. But I am pretty sure there is something wrong with the Divine Arts in there. The first few spells are correct. I can vouch for that, but I can say the later spells of each set can’t be correct. Plus, Kohl seems to have finally realized something in that letter.” she said.
I dropped the book. “Do you have proof. Don’t say anything if you don’t have proof.” I said out loud. I know master seemed to have been questioning about the book, but perhaps it was all a misunderstanding.
She eyed me and smiled. “I know you wouldn’t believe me. I just happen to have proof. It just so happens that I finally got my proof today. Carter come out.” She said.
Carter appeared from behind some books. He looked both worried and excited at the same time.
“Carter, what does he have to do with this?” I asked eyeing Carter.
“Do you know why your master and I fought those many years ago?” she asked.
“From what I’ve heard it was about some girl that Master likes.” I said.
“That is half the reason. But that was not all the reason. Did you know that Kohl is not a descendant of Kai?” she said smiling.
“What!” I said shocked. I was sure master was a descendant of Kai. Why else would he be protecting the book?
