《Cursed Forge of Destruction》3. [Eyes that see Life]

[The Voice of the World or the World System can only be heard by the [Primal Descendants] or those who sought after the strength beyond their lineage, these people were the Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Sirens, Dakaval, and many others — they are also called [System Receivers].]
"Wait, does that mean I'm a Primal Descendant?"
Flip*
[Those who chose to walk the path seeking their strength without relying on the system are called [Ancestral Lineage] or those who sought power through evolution and mutation. In today's words, they are referred to as Monsters, Calamity, Diablo, or Magical Beasts depending on the culture.]
I rubbed my eyes; reading really is not the forte of my "gifts," I really miss those old pair of mines. And so, I stopped and looked over at the cat who was busily grooming itself.
"So, they took pride in their own strength that they rejected the system. Are you also like that, Ista?"
Ista means was black or Night Star and was the Two-Tail Shade Cat's name who became my pet.
"Meow."
"I guess you're not like your ancestors; you did choose to form a Blood Pact with me."
"NYA!"
"To get revenge, yeah, right. You won't ever beat me, not in a million years!"
Pah!
"That hurt!"
I know this is childish of me considering my age, but I never really have anyone to play with, so this intelligent cat is my playmate – though the game it liked to play was roughhousing.
After Ista hit me on the back of the head, I fought back, and a fight erupted – or so it should have – but my mother interrupted us, "Fay! Ista! What did I tell you about fighting inside the house?"
We both stopped and then looked over at Mother. Though I can't exactly see her face, her voice alone was enough to make me feel her rage.
I dared not challenge a mother's "loving reprimands" and just lowered my head, "No fighting in the inside… go to Grandpa Hal's instead."
"Nya, meow."
Ista already knew better than to go against my mother. When Ista came here, it was a troublemaker and would often create a mess, but one day after it snatched up food on the table meant for everyone, it so much "loving reprimand" that it just knows better.
"Good, now Fay put the book away; it is already midnight; it is time to sleep."
"But…"
"Okay, then don't sleep, but I won't allow you to go with Granny Tel in collecting herbs tomorrow."
"Oh yeah, then I'm going to take a bath now. Ista, let's go."
I could hear her still talking, "And you should really lay off in reading books. Your eyes are not fit for it."
"Yes, mother."
After putting the book away, Ista and I went to take a bath together and then decided to sleep with mother and Ista.
The next day arrived.
The welcoming hug of the beg hugged gently. Its loving and caressing touched provided me with an intoxicating desire to never leave its side. I accepted its tempting invitation with guilt. I claim I would wake early, but its embrace was simply too loving... I wish to stay like this for days, but…
Pah!
The cat slapped me across the face.
Starting when I reached seven years of age, this happens every morning at precisely the sixth hour. In the beginning, I would fight back at the disturbing cat, but soon I realized that Ista did it for my sake.

I got out of bed, walked out of the house, followed Ista to the hill behind our home, and sat on top. I began stretching my body while the sun rose from the east.
We waited for a good ten minutes...
"NYA!"
"Yes, yes, I know." the two of us began stretching at Ista's instructions.
I still don't get why I'm doing this, but since I started doing this, I feel strong, so I supposed it's good for my health. The cat also stretched with me, so what right do I have to complain.
After the stretching, I also did some simple exercises that I had been gradually increasing in difficulty since I was seven.
From push-ups to sit-ups, I did it all to make my muscles develop. After 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, and 100 squats, I returned home to retrieve my trusty frying pan and ladle before running around the Village, making noises to wake up the Grandpas and Grandmas.
"Good morning Fay, Ista."
"Good morning Granny Tel." "Meow!" Ista energetically raised its paws to send its regards.
"Are we going to leave the village at the same time as always, Granny?" I asked.
"No dear, I'm going to make preparations first and then check on Daval to get my tools first. I had it repaired and maintained the other day. Oh, can you inform him about it, Fay dear, so we can just pick it up later and go."
"Okay, Granny."
"Thank you, deary."
Granny Tel was our Local Doctor. According to mother, was the greatest in the Village – Granny Tel was also the only doctor in the Village until two years ago – and I had to agree.
Well, she did have two students studying under her, but they don't count.
"Good morning Fay, Good morning Ista, how many laps are you on now?"
"Good morning Uncle Braum. I'm at my sixth lap now." "Meow!"
"Keep it up; you're on the verge of undergoing Worldly Radiance, so strengthening the body before that will make it more effective."
"I understand, Uncle! Good luck on the hunt! Oh, before I forget, please tell aunty, Leah, I'll bring the baby clothes later."
"Thanks, lass."
Uncle Braum and Aunty Leah moved to our Village five years ago carrying nothing but their luggage. They asked the Village Chief for permission to live with us, and no one was against it, so here they are now, about to have a child.
I went around the village some more and met up with others; there's not much in our Village made up of wooden walls and thatched roof. There were only eight households and twelve, no, soon-to-be thirteen people living in it.
As for who the youngest was, that's obviously me, at least before Aunty Leah's child is born.
On my ninth lap, Grandpa Daval finally exited his workshop. Of all the houses in our Village, his was the biggest because and was even made of stone. Grandpa Daval was a [Darkonian] and was the Village's blacksmith.
You may expect Grandpa Daval to be short, but he's actually over two meters tall and had a body that's would put bodybuilders to shame. I would like to believe that's he looks to me through his yellow-brown silhouette.
"Grandpa Daval, good morning." "Nya"
"Good morning, both of you."
"Grandpa Daval, Granny Fay asked me to tell you to ready her tools so we can pick them quickly later."
"Bah, that old hag forced me to maintain her tools, and now she's asking me to give it to her like she's paying for it? That hag is abusing my generosity. My craft is used in making weapons of mass destruction. I don't have time for this."

"Will you do it?"
"Huh? Oh, yes, I'll hang the bag she left here with on my front door."
Grandpa Daval may complain, but he's a good person deep inside. He also likes to boast about his exploits of the past, like how he used to join on an adventure with the Solar Knights of some prolific Kingdom and how he was kicked out of the Kingdom because he created a forbidden weapon of sort.
I believed his every word, but then, Granny Tel smacked him across the back of the head and told him to stop telling me lies. The drunk Grandpa Daval at the time protested that it was all true, and the two old people fought the whole night until they passed out.
But he's a funny old man to be with, so I don't really complain.
"Thank's Granda Daval."
"Wait, Fay, I forgot to tell you! I collected the materials for my next masterpiece. Do you want to watch me create a specially ordered spear later!?"
"Yes, please!"
The finishing dash was simply too easy, with Grandpa Daval informing me of another blacksmithing endeavor.
"Well, it's always good to have my Granddaughter as a company. Go on now, finish your little run. Also, be careful when you head out!"
"Okay, Grandpa!"
Even before I got reborn, I already liked watching create a weapon out of iron and steel. In this life, I became even more interested in them. The thought of using a weapon imbued with magic that I made gives me a rush.
But other than I really looking at the weapons Grandpa Daval creates. The way the weapon forms as the hammer strike the steel on the anvil and how he imbues them with his own colors, it is like the inanimate object is coming to life.
I asked my mother about this, and she said that our lineage comes from a family of blacksmiths from long ago. I wondered if I could become a blacksmith, but she shook her head, saying none from our family can become one.
I have no Magic, she said. Nothing can be done if that's the case.
Finishing my daily run, my body was on fire. A couple of people are still asleep, but I have done everything that I can so they're on their own.
Returning home, I took a bath and then ate breakfast. Breakfast was a heavy meal to supplement the energy I spent and would spend for the next few hours.
After eating some fruits, I stepped out with my trusted backpack. As for Ista, who would be coming with us, she gets two little pouches hanging by her neck.
"Bye, Mother!"
"See you later, you two. Granny Tel, I leave them to your capable hands." Mother said.
Granny Tel, who was already waiting outside, nodded, "It will be like always, do not worry, Ilia. Braum will also be with us, do not worry."
Mother waved at us as we walked away.
"Are the Older Sisters not going to come?" I asked.
"They are busy studying; they have an exam in a week, so I gave them time to prepare. If I want to pass down a skill to anyone, might as well make sure they are the best, right, Fay dear?"
"Yes, of course." I don't know what Granny's talking about.
As planned, we picked up Granny's items and then set out to the nearby forest. Uncle Braum, the Village Hunter, presented himself as our escort for this 'mission.'
"Today's little "expedition" requires me to find Blue Moon Flower – its quest difficulty is D-Rank – restriction for completion is 50 Blue Moon Flower – Start!" I looked at Ista, nod at my description of this little contest.
If I'm going to do menial work as a child, I would instead embrace my age to avoid boredom.
I am now young, and I have been making use of my age to do many things. Playing around without care was one of them. This may be a fantasy world, but I'll need to find a job once I reach the proper age.
"NYA!"
Good thing the cat was willing.
Ista and I dashed forth seeking out the Quest Item activate the eye of—
"Fay, Ista, don't stray too far, okay!?"
"We know, Uncle! (MEOW!)"
Okay, where was I? Oh yes, I was about to activate my eyes, all right acti – you know what, it lost its magic.
Going around the dense forest, I should be blind. My eyes are blanketed by a thick veil of darkness, and I am legally blind; no glasses can fix it, and magic sure as hell had done nothing.
But, in a place where life is thriving, I can see everything. Blanketed by darkness, my eyes maybe, but these eyes are actually special.
The color of life is ever resplendent in my eyes.
The world was veiled in darkness, but in return, I see the world in a much beautiful light when I could see the light.
They were unique... or so Mother said.
"Your eyes can see the color of the [Life] or Soul per se. It sees the very essence of a living person's existence."
"Then, is Ista tainted? Because his color is black in my eyes? What about the others in the Village? I also see them in a different color? Why is it that I see others in different colors?"
"You see, Far, life is untainted, clear, and without a color, but those who live will eventually come in contact with the elements of the world, changing the original hue of their existence."
Mother told me about the unique properties of every being as much as she could since I was seven.
I can see the beauty of life, but I cannot see those who have no life in return.
With that enough background, it is pretty easy to understand why Granny Tel asks me to help her collect herbs.
After a long time of living like this, I had grown accustomed to seeing the subtle differences in a vessel's attribute.
Standing in the middle of this forest, I can identify everything in a glance without further inspection. Thus, I have the edge in seeking out the flowers.
'There's one.'
A flower with a silver-blue color entered my peripheral vision. The silver glow of the moon and a blue touch of midnight frost that's the properties of the Blue Moon Flower.
This world has many unique elements; the moon, the sun, the earth, the night; all of them are manipulable if you try hard enough.
I snatched it really quickly, and with this, I have twenty-five Blue Moon Flowers. I picked the flower; I am halfway there!
"Fay, look out!"
"Huh?"
BAM!
I heard Uncle Braum calling out my name, then the clashing of steel and bones exploded next to me.
I turned to the source of the sound… hmm? Something's wrong… is Uncle Braum messing with me?
Before I could even recover, Uncle Braum helped me up, "Fay, return to the village with Granny Tel."
I did what Uncle Braum told me. I looked back once and saw his Cerulean Light burst into the form of a bird. His spear then moved.
'Are they messing with me? Because this is going out of line…'
"Dear Gods, good thing you are okay. Why would you approach something like that, dear!? Be more careful!" she said with an anxious voice.
When we reached the village entrance, everyone gathered around me. I became perplexed by their overreaction, so I asked them, "Aren't everyone taking this joke too far? There was no one there…"
That's weird. I thought they'd fess up by now.
Granny Tel rested her hands on my shoulders, "Dear, do not be alarmed, but you almost just died just now."
