《Dragons Dogma: Chaos & Order》Chapter 5: Chaos Party... Are You MAD!

Vandal Savage had no idea what he had gotten himself into.
For the first time in his life, he really regrets his love for money. Vandal had had a terrible luck streak lately, and by lately, he means ever since he was born. First, having sick family members, falling in with highwaymen to make ends meet, barely avoiding death half a dozen times, and joining an illegal dragon slaver party only to be enslaved by said dragons.
His life sucked! It sucked hard!
"A manling. I see," Dusk commented at the human who was too scared to even be frightened.
"Ma, this manling used to be part of a group that was enslaving dragons. But I stopped them."
Dusk cut off her son if he had leveled up again by killing the human.
"Ma. You know I love you, right?" Radais smiled sweetly at the purple dragon.
Enurto stared at Vandel and asked a simple question.
"What Kingdom."
More like a demand, really. Vandel quickly said it. He has no loyalty to that kingdom at all.
"The Jurko Empire of Dali, Your Majesty! The King of that country is building a "Revolutionary Army" of men and dragons to take over the world."
Zeinnairth craped the rocky floor with his claws angrily, "You know, I think one of the first things I'm should do when I'm older is to wipe off that place from the planet! I'll bet he's never tried fighting a dragon before. I ought to see how he handles a dragonling like me baring my fangs at him."
Radais also informed them about the class system that his new minion told them.
"I will go destroy this kingdom." Radais father stated. "We got four more years. Take them training grounds. The maze will be good, and make sure to place the EXP rune as well."
Radais and his crew didn't even see this massive father move because the black dragon was just gone in a flash.
"... "
"..."
"..."
"So, what do you like?" The blue female hatchling
"Killing idiotic humans and punishing chaos dragons."
Radais and Vandal laughed nervously.
"So females. What are your names." Radais addresses the green and blue female hatchlings, hoping to avoid his mother's anger.
"I'm Larxene," The green hatchling said with a smirk.
"My name is Xion. Thank you for asking Knightsbane."
Radais grinned, "So, let's get a good night's sleep, and we'll start scouting the territory tomorrow. Once we know the lay of the land, we'll become a better party. Goodnight, guys."
"Stay," Dusk requested. Her voice echoed strongly throughout her lair.
"Blast it all!" Radais cursed.
"Ok little ones and manling. My training will consist of a three-day 'wake-up, eat, fight, eat, fight, eat, fight, and sleep' routine," Dusk announced. Radais stopped pouting immediately and gawked at his mother with an unhinged jaw. "And each fight is roughly two hours long with no rest."
"T-Tha-That's ridiculous!" he complained.
Dusk slowly moved her claw and waved at them.
The hatchlings and the lone human flew away further and faster than a bolt of lightning and struck the dragon lair walls surrounding the sparring ground harder than stone dropping into a pond.
"It's going to be a long four years."
Hours later you can hear screaming from many different places. Three males and two females.
Radais and Zeinnairth screamed as they raced against each other and the animals within the jungle track.
For reasons that only the gods only know. Radais mother took his ability to fly.

"H-How the hell did she prepare something like this?" Radais screamed as he dodged a slash from a giant tiger. It was five meters tall!
"Didn't you hear her when she first explained? This is space-warp magic!" Vandal shouted back at him as he dodged the same slash. "And she captured all those beasts and shoved them into here!"
"Where did she find them?" Radais cried as he kept his tired legs going.
"HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW?"
"More running and less talking," Larxene barked at them.
"Come and get me, you ugly beasts!"
"Xion, you kindly stop acting like a bloodthirsty warrior! You are a blue dragon! You should be Zen, not crazy," Radais said, running away from a giant wasp now.
Dusk and Enurto watched the group run for their life (literally) while they ate kaiju-sized fish, enjoying the show "voluntarily" provided to them by their son and his three royal guards and his manling slave.
For the past year, Radais and his party were put through many ridiculous training methods that would very easily kill with very few breaks and rest. Dusk and Enurto gave them all sorts of tasks, ranging from toughening their paws by making them dig a 40-meter hole with their bare hands, to wearing something like 100-pound weighted runes for endurance, to evasion/speed training by tying them to a tree near an angry hornet's nest and all in a single day!
Then They're tossed into a twenty-four-meter-deep pit, the only way out of which is to climb a stone pillar within that same day!
If they die well, Dusk can just revive them as many times as she likes.
....
"Alright, for the next year, you all will try to stay awake." Dusk instructed her students about their goals.
"Where are we going?" Radais asked his parents.
"A demon stronghold. I'm low on some of the demonic essences," Enurto declared as he pulled out a large glass bottle that had blackish-red liquid at the bottom. "I need my spirits, you know?"
Radais party just blinked. "What?"
The black dragon gave them a raised eyebrow. "Spirits. You know, alcohol and stuff," Enurto said as he swished the bottle in his claw. "I got a magic that can make it, but I don't have the ingredients for the damn thing I want the most..."
"You drink a lot, Father?" Radais asked as he began to follow them.
"Oh yeah," Dusk replied. "We both do. Especially Demon Essence Spirit. That thing hits like nothing else. Vodka is just too much alcohol in it, but that thing in fathers' hand is just~ right," she said and stressed the 'just.'
"Okay... But how is this your training?" he asked. "Why do dragons even need to drink?!
Radais is being floored by this information that his parents are giving him. What the heck is even Essences anyway?
Enurto gave a brief longing stare at the alcohol in his hand before he used storage magic to stash it away. "The demon fortress I'm going to is actually the size of a labyrinth, about seven or so times bigger than Inchon. The walls are composed of dark magic-absorbing substances that I've yet to properly identify. I went there once before with your mother here. I also got the essence there as well."
"But... it's a demon hive," Radais replied, no pleaded.
Dusk gave him a grin. "Oh, is the big bad chaos dragon son of mine dragon scared of demons?"

Radais growled. "Fuck yes! I'm not ready for that shit! No one here is ready for that SHIT!!!"
The chaos hatchling pointed to his party. "They are at death's door, mother! My servent fur has turned white as the moon by how much things you have sicked on us!"
"HA! Demon stronghold," Vandal twitched, stuttered, and laughed at the same time when he heard it.
"My manling is about to crack, mother!"How do you intend us to become stronger mother? When you sealed our levels? The traits we got from hell don't you two put us doesn't really help until we level."
"Well... Let's start by naming some of the things I know about the world and how our bodies can interact with the world." Dusk reached into the air and pulled out five chess pieces: a black pawn, a black queen, a black king, a white bishop, and a white knight. She lightly tossed them in the air before activating a magic she learned long ago. "Education Projection."
The chess pieces stopped midair before forming a pentagon between themselves. The pentagon then became a 3-D shape before the entirety of the magic cast upon the chess pieces turned the chess pieces into dust, and a flat board projection appeared between the dragon and the hatchlings.
"First, there is magic in this world that uses the Ether, the easiest and the most widely researched form of power. I have no interest in this power anymore."
That caused Vandal to be confused. "What are you talking about, my lady? Magic is the only power aside from demonic powers-"
"Contrary to what most people believe," Enurto said as he reached for a clear glass jar with rune trips running in multiple directions. Inside the jar was a creature shrouded in darkness. "Their demonic power is derivative of Ether-based magic. It is simply much more fine-tuned for those whom you call demons to use."
The party of five nodded.
"Second type of power is Shamanism," Dusk said as the Common word for Shamanism came up on the projection between himself and Radais's party. "This type of power is used more as a relay between two or more different sets of powers and support usage via reinforcing the body. Ether is inferior compared to Shamanism, but there are only a few methods that Shamanism can help others. It is, however, great for medical use.
"Like me?" Xion asked. The class she gained was Royal Gaurd Shamen.
"Yes, little one, you do indeed have this power," Dusk answered the blue hatchling question.
"The third type of power is spiritual power, one that I am very familiar with. It uses the power of one's spirit to power any sort of performance. This power has the potential to be the strongest and the weakest due to the wide frequency of different spirits' levels of power." Dusk said, showing her dragon breath.
"The fourth type of power is the god powers. This is, on average, the strongest power but also the most inaccessible power. And the Fifth type of power is the power of physical power. It is not the strongest due to the harsh training it requires, but it was a worthy power nevertheless." Enurto said.
"And the last power is the power of darkness." Dusk finished the lecture.
"Power of Darkness? That sounds oddly like something that's going to end up bad, mother," Radais interjected before Dusk could explain.
The purple dragon just laughed. "The dark arts of Ether-based magic are imitations of the power of darkness. The base for the power of the darkness is the power of the Nether World, a world that was briefly recorded by many magicians. It's the power that you wield, my son."
"Okay... But how does this explanation on why your taking four hatchlings and a manling to Demon Stronghold?" Radais asked his parents.
"It's just A-rank demons, my son."
Vandal nearly stiffened on the spot. "What?"
"I think about half of the demons there are S-rank or higher. Ooh! The strongest demon essence magic stone we got came from that big wolf demon!" Dusk remarked. "I think one of those Wizard Saints killed only one of them a while back as well.
"W-Where is this demon fortress?" the manservant asked, now genuinely realizing who he was talking with.
Powerhouses that can pretty much do whatever the hell they want.
The black dragon hmmed. "Somewhere deep underground," he said as Dusk snapped her claws. "Let's go since we are already here."
Zeinnairth blinked and looked around. They are still in a regular forest. Actually, it was the middle of nowhere. "We are?" he asked.
Then they all blinked. "What happened to the lair?!" They asked at the same time. "When did you move us?!"
"Yup!" Dusk grinned as her arms were soon covered in purple flames. "Get ready; I'm going to activate the teleportation magic!"
Enurto did the same, but it was pure black.
"The human will stay with us while you four will only be using your physical abilities. You can't use your dragon abilities."
"What!" The four hatchlings shouted once more.
"Don't worry, little nones, we will make you lot won't die," Dusk said with a grin that sent chills down their spines. "Lets the fun begin, little ones! Oh, and before I forget, you will be turned into half manlings until strong to break the spell."
"..."
"Are you mad!"

"Finally, that's done," A voice grumbled in the burned section of a forest outside of Dusk and Enurto's territory. "Sucks that killing over level doesn't grant me extra exp anymore."
Zeinnairth's belly rumbled loudly, almost as loudly as the Iron hatchlings' snoring.
Something that Radais mentioned quite a bit.
"Great cuz, I'm starved!" Zeinnairth complained, "We still going into the manling town?"
"You know, I'm pretty hungry too, Radais," Xion added.
Larxene nodded her head along with her teammates.
"Alright, we will go hunting today again." Radais sighed. "What do you guys want to eat?"
"Mammoth," Zeinnairth grunted.
Radais blinked, "Say again? I don't think I heard you right."
"Mammoth," Zeinnairth repeated.
The charred forest was quiet for a moment.
"…You're crazy." Radais decided, "We're not-"
"-strong enough to take out a hairy elephant?" Zeinnairth demanded, "Have you forgotten what we can do? We can fly, you can breathe fire, and me," The royal guard grinned, "My breath can shred just about anything in sight. So what are we up against? Oh, yeah, a big, furry animal with a couple of pointy tusks. Ooh, so scary."
Radais wasn't impressed and was about to tell to fuck off, but Xion spoke up, "Radais, I think this might be a good idea. I mean, you and Zeinnairth could eat something as big as a buffalo and still be hungry, but one mammoth might be enough for the four of us to eat and not have to hunt again. And it might help your laziness."
"I'm not lazy," he muttered. "I think the bear is just fine."
Zeinnairth saw the weakness and dug in, "Yeah, right! Is it really that tuff tacklin' a walking mountain of meat! How do you expect to about our leader with that attitude, huh?!"
Radais bared his fangs, "I'll do what I want, Brotha! You think I'm afraid of prey, is that it?!"
"That's what it sounds like, you damn flame scammer!" Gajeel bellowed.
That was it.
Radais roared, "I'll show you! I'll take the damn mammoth down myself! I'm all fired up! Cuz your too damn weak, Brotha!"
"Fuck that! I'm not weak!" Zeinnarith roared back, "I show you, you punk!"
The iron warrior flew up into the sky without another word, just snarling with anger.
Xion giggled once he was gone, "Radais, you did that on purpose."
"That I did." Radais cackled, "And I don't even have to hunt for it now. Ha-ha!"
Larxene followed after Zeinnarith. "Yo Radais, can I go after him?"
"Ya go after that and don't be late. Cuz I will not help you against my mother's wrath. "
"Yes, Lord Radais"
Radais turned to Xion and offered a hand to his medic. "Shall we go, miss? Maybe that crazy mother of mine didn't get our manling slave. I really want to go back to being a dragon now. Having these things is annoying."
"I think have hands is very fun Lord Radais"
"Great! Are you two going to be doing that often? Cuz I like it very much. Now say it slower and with more love in that voice my medic."

Going with the flow only takes him so far, and Curt soon finds himself burdened with more responsibility than he bargained for, including the fate of the two worlds. ==============================Wordpress This webnovel is written for fun, and everything posted is essentially a first draft. Beware of typos and lack of creative descriptions — my main priority is to get the story out over writing quality. Still, I hope you enjoy the story. Updates are sporadic, but I aim to release a chapter (~2000-3000 words) at least once a week. Average release time is 1 chapter/3 days. I took inspiration from the lore of the MMO, Dungeon Fighter Online (Dungeon & Fighter), and there may be easter eggs or references to the game, but the story and characters have become wholly original and standalone.
