《Love at First Theft》13. Steal the Parters

As we rolled up to the brightly lit police station, we saw some officers come out to bring us inside. We were brought into a room with a desk were he asked Mei to sit and I was brought to the next room and sat down at in a waiting room. As I was waiting for my turn to speak my part I looked at my phone and there was a text from Aaron that said, "Neither of you guys did anything and were victims. That's your story," and I hoped that Mei saw that too when she was in the car.
"Can I call my family to tell them where I am?" I asked a lady that was sitting behind a huge desk. She noodded and I proceed to call Max. I acted as if they weren't there because it just made life easier in case the officers asked if they were there or not.
After the phone call, I waited for about five minutes until Mei entered the waiting room. I was then was escorted into the room with the lone desk. The only other thing in the room was two chairs, one of which was being occupied by a large man that had his hair up in a ponytail.
"Sit, sit," gestured to the other chair. Despite his burly looks, the way he said it made him seem more like a teddy bear. He clicked a recorder and started to speak again. "My name is Officer Faulker and I have a few questions about what happened."
The questions were the obvious "What's your name?", "What happened?" and "Did you notice anything suspicious leading up to the events?" and so on. I answered them like "Winnie McWilliams" (you never use your real name), "That guy attempted to steal the statue," and "I feel like he has split personality or something becasue he changed his demenor frequently," which wasn't wrong becasue he is slightly bipolar, but of course I don't say that I know that for a fact because then they would know that I knew him.

"Ok, you're good to go. You can go home and we'll contact you if we need anything else," the officer showed me out and I saw Mei. When we walked away from the station, we both sighed of relief.
"We should probably ask someone to pick us up," Mei said, and I agreed. She took out her phone and called Max. Within ten minutes, a car came with Blake and Max in it. As soon as we got in, Max started to bombard us with questions.
"Are you okay? What did they ask you? Do they suspect you in anyway?," Blake then promptly cut her off, "Calm down. They're fine. If they weren't, they wouldn't have been able to leave."
I smiled at their bickering and was hoping that he would be a permanent member of the team. "Yeah, we're fine, so don't worry too much,"
"Okay..."
"Okay! Let's go back!" Blake put the pedal to the metal and we shot away from the station.
I noticed that we were entering a trailer park and was confused.
They live in a... trailer?
He stood in the doorway and gave a little "Mi casa es tu casa" speech and I heard a voice, that sounded like Aaron, complaining that they already said the same thing earlier. When we heard Aaron's voice, Mei barged in and gave him a bear hug.
"You, um, live in a trailer."
"Yep," Blake responded.
"Yo," I heard Flynn's voice from inside. Blake and I went inside and it felt smaller on the inside then it did on the outside. There was a light out in one of the buzzing florecent lights, a pretty big safe inside the wall, a row of cabinets and a mini fridge that was a sad excuse for a kitchen, and a couch towards the back of it.

"I expected more," I mumbled under my breath.
"So, now that everyone's here, I have something to say," Flynn announced from the sofa and everyone quieted down. "Because of that little stunt, the security will be very tight. Also..." Flynn crossed to the safe, opened the three padlocks on it and took out a familiar ring. "Is the deal still on?"
Because I was the only one who had seen it up close, Max, Aaron, and Mei were staring at it with wide eyes. We all nodded viciously and Blake eyed Flynn, obviously against it.
"Okay, it's decided then. Here's the ring," Flynn handed us the ring and told us to exchange contact info, so we did. "So, get ready and we'll go for it in about a month. And don't lose the ring becasue we are now officially partners."
