《Incoming Chaos on the Immortal World》Chapter 21 - Strange Wild West

“So, let me get this straight.. you are dragging me here without preparing anything, now you are going to go back first to the sect to prepare because it was needed for our journey, and you told me to wait here without entering the city because the city won’t accept mortals?”
“That’s basically it, yes!” Xiong Ba answered smilingly.
“Haven’t you got enough fun from torturing me in the battle yesterday?!” Tethra didn’t know whether to laugh or cry because of this absurdness. “Fine! I will wait,” Tethra yielded to his fate and just sat there below a tree. Xiong Ba became relieved after seeing Tethra’s cooperativeness. He then activated his identification card and finally disappeared from there. Tethra, noticing Xiong Ba had gone, stood up cautiously and moved to behind the tree.
“Chaos, are you sure you can hide my presence?” Tethra asked again the question he had asked earlier for confirmation. When Xiong Ba was talking about the plan to let him sit there patiently, Tethra already couldn’t tolerate it. He told an impatient person to wait? Go eat a brick! There’s no way he would wait that long while sitting boringly. So, when Xiong Ba was making a plan for Tethra, Tethra himself was making another plan to have fun.
“Of course... even if I’m powerless, I still can control energy movement, but are you sure you’re okay? I sensed many powerful cultivators inside the city...”
“No worries! I have my own ways! I also want to try this Runic Work” Tethra started writing a Runic Work with his right hand. Chaos was already out of idea how to convince Tethra to not enter the city, so he would just support as much as he could. After around 3 minutes, quite longer than most of the Runic Works he made so far, Tethra finished his Runic Work.
“Phew, this one is a bit complex, if I wasn’t standing still, it would take me 5-10 minutes probably...” The Runic Work glowed and Tethra stepped into it—
‘Oh light, stop thy reflection, prevent thy greatness from touching this body, take the rest of the light off this body, Invisibility!’
—and disappeared right after. In actuality, he was still there, it was just his body already rejected light, so nothing could be reflected. That was why Tethra asked Chaos to restrain his presence, this Runic Work could only deceive eyes, not the intuition of expert cultivators. With this, his disguise would be almost perfect, if not for the time limit of the Runic Work. The Runic Work could only work for an hour, so it would be best if he could get inside and outside the city in just an hour.
Tethra waited for a caravan to appear to enter the city. Even though the city looked old, it might be supported by some kind of security mechanism that could prevent strangers to enter, that was why he needed to enter by sneaking near a merchant’s caravan, quite the genius isn’t he? Yes, if only he didn’t miss a single detail. The latest accidents. What kind of merchant would bet his life to pass a dangerous road like that? A desperate one? And thus, Tethra would be forced to wait forever until Xiong Ba came.

Not long after he started waiting, a caravan appeared inside Tethra’s line of sight. What a lucky guy, there shouldn’t be a caravan passing! But, if there was none, how would the story progress in a fun way? Anyway, after confirming it was a really caravan, Tethra trailed near behind the caravan to pass the city gate. The city gate itself was quite a simple one. A crescent moon shaped board was placed on top of 2 wooden poles. On the board, there was the name of the city, “Capital, Serbian”. After passing the gate, because of his constant vigilant state, Tethra could feel some penetrating gaze on his body, but it still failed to discover him. Tethra sighed a sigh of relief, evidently relieved that Chaos succeeded in hiding his presence.
After entering the capital, Tethra no longer stuck to the caravan, he strolled through the not-so-crowded-for-a-capital city independently. He realized that he underestimated the buildings a bit. They were reinforced with Runic Works even stronger than the one inside Ravine City. Even though the base materials were woods, they were quite strong from what Tethra had seen and touched. Undoubtedly, this city overcame their problem of not using technology by creating stronger Runic Works. Maybe that was why this was called capital, else if they lost in all aspect, people wouldn’t call this the capital.
Tethra strolled through main road with caution. Even though, he discovered that the city was really not as crowded as he imagined a capital to be, so he still needed to avoid bumping into another person. Tethra was still surprised inwardly seeing a capital city that was not crowded. Even if it was not that crowded, it was already quite surprising having that many population. Why? Because this city rejected mortals, so most of the population there were cultivators, except the children that hadn’t cultivated yet. Only some famous merchants with special pass were allowed to enter here without being cultivators. Even with only that fact, it could already be called the Capital City! The Capital of Cultivators!
Tethra looked around curiously like a child. He really felt funny here, it was the first time he felt it. The city was like those old west settings he had heard before. The land was also barren, supporting the cowboy-like feeling. He rarely used virtual reality back on earth, so he didn’t know the sight and feeling of a wild west city, thus he enjoyed the moments and views as he walked through the city.
Most of the buildings were made of woods, but there were also some wells that were made of stones. The buildings were quite typical of the country side, normal two story wooden buildings with their entrance using double swing doors that was only as big as a human’s torso. Even though Tethra was curious about the door, he didn’t dare to enter the building because in his invisible state, he would be noticed if he used the swing door.

There were also some buildings that were one story high only. With normal doors as their entrance, those buildings were probably used for living. Usually, most cultivators don’t care about where they live as long as they can cultivate, but for cultivators with family, they will probably buy something like that to live with their family. Tethra kept walking cautiously even while looking around. He hadn’t touched a person once for a while because he kept his vigilance in the mortals-hating city. But, after reaching a corner, Tethra was stupefied by what he saw that he even dropped his guard.
A building, not like most of the buildings in the city, stood there. The building wasn’t that tall, only as tall as one and a half story building, but it was quite long. Yeah long, not wide, it was occupying the place of 5 normal buildings. That wasn’t the thing that caused Tethra to be stupefied, it was the materials. Most of the buildings used woods and stones because they hated mortals and their technology advancement, or so he had heard from Xiong Ba, but this one building used steel as walls! There was no roof too, only layers of steel as a cover, it looked like an unmoveable van.
Tethra stopped long enough to get brushed by a person. With a startled jump, Tethra moved back to a less crowded place. Tethra felt tremendous pressure from that bump, that was why he could react instantly. Even though it was only for some milliseconds, he felt it. The strength of the person he bumped was too high.
“Yes, that person is a cultivator at the Immortal Mortal stage (7th stage). Luckily, he didn’t care about the worldly matter, or else...” Chaos confirmed Tethra’s guess that made him shiver.
“I think I just brushed death...” Tethra laughed after missing death by an inch. He wore a self-decapitating smile, he was really powerless in front of people like that. Luckily, his mood switch is as powerful as that, so without thinking about it anymore, Tethra stared at the strange building. He found a window at the side of the building after observing the building for an opening. Gazing curiously inside, Tethra found a sight he didn’t expect. An auburn-haired girl was being chased by a fire monkey who smiled lecherously.
“Nooo! A Man, don’t burn my clothes anymoreee”
“Uuu aaa!” The monkey became more vigorous after hearing the girl’s plead. The man at the side of the room kept shaking his head while smiling faintly. Based on their hair color similarity, the man and the girl seemed to be a father and daughter. Then, the monkey must be their pet from the way the father didn’t interrupt the monkey chasing. Tethra finally felt relieved after knowing that it was not a rape scene. Even if it was only playing, he still thought the monkey needed some punishment for pranking a child. Tethra prepared a weakened Lightning Pierce and aimed it at a hole at the side of the window.
Tethra lowered the intensity of the elctricity to the most minimum so it would just paralyze the victim. Waiting for the right time, Tethra finallly released the Runic Work to fire monkey. The chasing fire monkey stopped and trembled because of the electricity. The girl noticed that the monkey had stopped chasing, so she turned back only to find the fire monkey with its fur all raised up. She hurriedly went to the fire monkey to check its condition. Meanwhile, the man looked weirdly at the window. Earlier, he noticed a glow at the window, but it receded suddenly. The man couldn’t figure out what exactly happened, so he just ignored it and went to the fire monkey to check its condition too.
“Don’t worry, he’s only electrified, he’ll be up in a while”
Hearing that, the girl’s almost crying face became a pout.
“It’s your fault for pranking me, it must be heaven’s punishment!” The girl pouted again while blaming the monkey. The father could only smile wryly at the two’s interaction. Luckily there was this monkey that kept his daughter happy, he really didn’t have any time because of his experiments. He really felt grateful to this fire monkey even if it’s a bit lecherous.
When the man stared at the window, Tethra already ran back to the main road. He was only having fun, he didn’t want to be noticed. That was quite fulfilling for Tethra, but he still felt it wasn’t enough. Smiling lightly at the small fun he just had, Tethra continued to walk while looking around for more fun. Just as he was about to continue walking, he was once again dumbfounded by a sight in front of him. The strange building before couldn’t even be compared to the sight of this.
Earlier, there was nothing as eye-catching as the thing he saw. He was sure because if there was something as eye-catching as that, he would instantly notice it, but there wasn’t something like that before. There was no castle there before!
“EHH??!! Why is there a medieval castle in a wild west themed city??!! You destroyed the wild west atmosphere!!!”

Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have.
