《Warfare's Ultimate Frontier》Chapter 217 End Of Tournament part 6

Xuan Feng, Lun Hu, Jie Zi Fang, Jiang Yan, and Li Guang were still having a discussion with each other about the state of their different factions.
(LG) “So, it’s a real shame that Baron was done in by you guys, I was wondering how far they would go.” Li Guang repeated.
(XF) “Well, what’s done is done. Plus, they likely would not have survived much longer as the Bair fighters became really active along with all of the other top factions. They would have lasted a month or two at most.” Xuan Feng guessed.
(LG) “True enough, how is Lian Po?”
(LH) “Our master is quite well, I do believe he performed the best out of all of the leaders of the Yellow Wang faction and for that he is quite happy.” Lun Hu answered.
(JY) “Indeed, we have spoken to the other all-stars of the other 3 leaders and it looks like they were quite upset about that.” Jiang Yan added in.
(JZF) “I must say, Li Guang, that you and your Sun Alliance elders are quite something even without Sun Tzu by your side.” Jie Zi Fang commented.
(LG) “Well, of course. We are the most powerful faction within the Chinese community. It would be a real shame if we were nothing without our leader, if that were the case, the faction is nothing more than riding on the coattails of their leader and can’t really be said to be a truly strong faction.”
(XF) “Well said. You may be one of the only all-stars that Sun Tzu picked, but he sure picked a good pupil.”
(LG) “I appreciate the compliment.”
(LH) “Say, Li Guang, when will your master return? He has been gone for quite some time now, I’d say a couple of hundred years?”

(LG) “That I am not too sure of either, your guess is as good as mine, and honestly I predict it will be soon. Maybe in another few decades?”
(JY) “Mind if I ask what he’s doing all this time? Usually, most expeditions to the other communities range from a few years to a decade, yet he has been gone so long that some factions are getting a little rowdy.”
(LG) “Last I heard, he was at the US community.”
(JZF) “What confuses me is that the US community has only recently taken over the fifth place power position. A few centuries ago, they were nothing, now they climbed their way to fifth place? Terrifying.”
(LG) “You should really do some research, Jie Zi Fang. Many of the more advanced blueprints that are in my faction’s treasury belong to the US community. They will likely be even more of a threat in the strategist reincarnation death match. Their climb in rank is unofficial, but since there is rarely ever a mistake on the rankings, we must be careful once we enter into the tournament.”
(LH) “Agreed. What do you think of the mysterious Bair fighters, Li Guang.”
(LG) “That is a tough question. No doubt they are really powerful, haven’t you guys been beaten by the, before?”
(JZF) “Twice, in fact, you may not have been there but we were bested in the aerial tournament as well as what happened a few months ago in this tournament.”
(LG) “Then what is your impression of them?”
(JY) “I’m not sure about my allies, but they never fail to show us something that we have never seen before. Whether that be a strategy or strange weapon… Hold on, I had completely forgotten about this until now, but didn’t they have some contraption that flew in the skies and was capable of raining bombs on us?”

(LG) “Good god, did the explosion make you all forget about this? This information is critical! Wait, I just thought of something. If they are able to literally rain explosives down on us, aren’t we giving them exactly what they want by all being gathered here?”
(LH) “How did we let this get past us until now? We need to inform others.”
The 5 of them rushed to their superiors and hastily explained what they had figured out. However, just as they had finished what they were trying to convey to their allies, they heard thousands of explosions go off outside the capital base. Exactly where they were housing their armies. Apparently, their superiors already knew about this via a few soldiers who were in the midst of the first attack by the Bair fighters’ mysterious aircraft. The top brass knew this was coming and they were waiting for this exact moment.
From what they could see from their place, there was really only one large aircraft in the sky that was about 20 times as large as the largest plane that they had ever seen. Except, it wasn’t exactly what they had envisioned it to be. Instead of the regular plane shape that every strategist was familiar with, it was more in the shape of an overweight circular disk? No one was sure. Even so, only a brief moment later, a lot of military aircraft could be heard heading for the mysterious enemy.
(LP) “Not to worry, my pupils. We have been preparing for this ever since we formed the coalition between the four remaining factions.” Lian Po reassured his all-stars.
(XF) “How many?”
(LP) “We have used every single one we have in our arsenal to fight them. Easily over a fleet over 200,000 bombers, fighters, helicopters, attack aircraft, and some experimental drones that frankly aren’t very good.”
(LH) “I don’t think there has ever been an instance where the top factions were able to cooperate so well with each other besides the strategist reincarnation death match.”
(LP) “Haha, Lun Hu, that is certainly the understatement of the century. A great opponent brings out the best of the Chinese community, there is absolutely no doubting that, that should be the case for any group of people. From what our estimates suggest, this will be extremely costly to even the best of us.”

Paternum: A Superhero Story
When Quinn finds an experimental superpower-granting costume in their parents’ attic, they didn’t expect to be drawn into a web of superhuman intrigue, but their discovery serves as the catalyst for that conspiracy to slowly unravel. At it’s heart, Paternum is an extended coming-of-age story for the main character as they become a superhero, in a world with more reasonable stakes and less powerful heroes than many superheroic worlds. Themes include what art means to different people, and what it means to be a patron, whether as a sponsor, a parent, or a supporter. I consider Paternum‘s primary influences to be the various versions of Spider-Man, J. C. McCrae’s own superhero story Worm, and Drew Hayes’ story SuperPowereds. I hope that fans of such stories can find something to enjoy in mine as well. Paternum is primarily hosted on my website (thevoidwrites.com) where it updates weekly in groups of scenes totalling approximately 2000 words. Here on Royal Road, it will update once daily with one scene at a time, but only after each act is completed on the home site - the next batch of updates is scheduled to begin on February 5th. There is a discord channel for discussion (discordapp.com/invite/QFMM6yA), and you can vote for Paternum on topwebfiction (topwebfiction.com/vote.php?for=paternum) as well. Finally, you can buy the first book of Paternum, The Swift Uplifting Rush, in a couple different ways - as an ebook through Amazon, or directly from me for a discounted price, or as a physical paperback from Amazon. Buying the book will give you access to Drawing Hands, an exclusive arc that won't ever be published on either my site or Royal Road.
