《Restarting life as a peasant》Chapter 15

Next morning Breakfast table was filled with awesome food. Sausages, eggs, mash potatoes made with a lot of milk and butter, peach marmalade, relatively expensive white bread and as a beverage warm milk. We usually eat good but that was some other level. Then Charlotte and Ellen come to the table with new fabric on their arms. Those were fancy fabric for us peasants. My father came in holding a new pipe, an expensive thing made out of pottery. Then my mother smiled at me. She was holding some fabric too. I know where things are going, mother said “Yesterday a traveling merchant caravan passed through here, sadly you weren't here. And you know Charlotte was very sad you forget her gift.” I said “Sorry Charlotte” She gave me a very big smile. “Let me guess, you are not angry because I bought you that fabric and mother is going to make you a beautiful dress.” She nodded while smiling naughty. I turned to Ellen “I promised you nothing, why do you too have fabric? She said “ I am the sister of the richest man in the village and you think I am going to go to Eva's wedding next month with these?(she pointed to the dress she was wearing) How mean are you?” I looked at my father and he said, “Son, thanks for the pipe, you know I needed a new one, you are a very considerate son.” I wasn’t going to say anything to my mother, she deserved every good thing she got. She blushed and said “Thanks son” she wasn't as shameless as the rest of the family so to make her a little more comfortable I said “Your welcome mother”. I asked “Where is Tim and Sam?” Father said “They got early and went to the barn, you know. They are riding the horse you bought for Them” I said “A horse?” Father said “He is a strong and young stallion” I said “How much?” with a defeated expression. He said “50” I replied “For all of the stuff?” Father said “80” I said “I hope at least that includes the stuff you put in the cellar?” Father said “Yes son, we bought a lot of good food too. As your guests tined the cellar, It was appropriate for you to refill it.” I said “With food only lord Marcus can afford around these parts?” Mother said “Sorry son, I really wanted some spices” I turned to my mother “Mom, that is ok” Father said “Look son, Tim told us how you sold the knifes and quadrupled the money on the gabling table with proving other prayer is a cheat. So don’t give us a hard time over easy money.” I got outside, Tim and Sam had quite joyful expressions on their faces, and they had a handsome horse with them. Father knew it’s stuff when it came to animals and I was sure that was a good horse.

When they came close to me Tim looked at me worried “Sorry bro, When mom found the sack of gold under your bed I had to invent a story, I told you made high quality steel knives and sell those to some shady guys at high prices. Then we gambled and you played the other guy by showing he was a cheat.” It was close enough to reality without saying my future dealings. I said to him “Good save bro. But that horse is mine.” They looked quite disappointed. I said “You can ride it as much as you like” Their smiles returned and we got to the table, enjoyed a great breakfast.
After breakfast when I got my mine I found a nice surprise. Trap holes were filled with goblins.
