He looked to be in his thirties, from his overall getup he looked like a fierce general from ancient china.

The fierce general noticed Zhang staring at him, he wanted to say something, but the moment he saw Zhang's face, he almost jumped.

Zhang saw that the general guy wanted to say something, but the moment he saw his face,that guy lost his composure for some reason.
