《Abnormal》Chapter 39 The meeting

"How much did you get for the math test?" I asked.
"Don't ask." Sean said, he sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Tell me." I said with a sly grin.
He groaned and muttered, "42-----"
"AWESOME! YOU HAVE IMPROVED!!!!!!!" I yelled.
Sean jumped back, he clapped his hands on his ears.
"Millie! Shhhhhhh! "
The students who walked pass glanced at us as if we were living giant potatoes.
I nodded, "So, what time are we meeting your parents again?"
Sean waved his hands in the air, "MILLIE! This is the FOURTH time already."
"Sean! Shhhhhhhhhh! " I shushed him.
He frowned, "Are you copying me? "
"Yeah?" I said.
He rolled his eyes and laid back on his locker.
"After school, 6:30 p.m, royal H.W."
I scribbled the words on the back of my hand just in case I forget the address.
"K, thxs."
"Meet me at the gates at 4:30." He said, giving me a pat on the shoulder.
I smiled and returned to my locker.
I forgot to exchange books for my next class!
History book... I think we were studying Greek? Meh, history was too boring, it took me two punches to wake myself up.
I still have the burn mark on my right hand, those couldn't be removed... Yet.
I have to be careful with that.
Sean's parents might say I'm a bad influence to Sean if they see this.
Tap tap*
"H..huh? Oh ! Yes ?" I said, quickly turning around to face the person.
"Class already started, why are you still here? " It was a teacher, with a board and a pen in her hands.
" Oof! S..sorry! I just spaced out, please don't report me, I will head to class immediately! " I said, giving the teacher a bow before rushing away.

"It's 4:40 already." Sean complained, he looked at me from head to toe.
"You said that as if you were always early." I said, and attempted to whack his head with my hand.
"You already changed into your dress? " He asked, barely dodging my hand.
I nodded, "You should too."
"Later."
I looked at the burn mark on my arm and sighed.
"You should be careful with that." Sean said, stepping into his 'not so fancy' car.
"You think I don't know?! Ow, this still hurts." I said, and tugged my sleeves lower.
It was a one hour drive to the restaurant, but due to traffic, we reached there at 6:20 pm.
*************
"QUICK! " I screamed outside the men's bathroom.
"ALMOST JEEZ!!! " Sean yelled.
I looked at the time on my watch, 6:32.
We are officially late to Sean's family reunion dinner.
If that's how you say it.
"SEEEEAANNNN!!!" I yelled.
Sean ran out from the bathroom, still struggling with his tie.
I fixed his red tie and stuffed it behind his suit.
"Come on, quick! " I said.
Suddenly, something flashed by my right eye, a beam of light...a reflection.
Just ignore it.
I pushed open the door to the restaurant.
Sean and I stared in horror.
Well, Sean is ok with it, but it's me who he might need to be worried for.
White walls, white ceiling, white tables.
Almost 80% of this place is white.
Well, at least the chairs are golden.
A man stood up and waved at us, Sean grabbed my hand and walked towards the table.
He looked at me in a mixed expression, I gulped.
He pulled me closer to him and whispered , "Remember what I said, don't and never bring up topics about rank in front of my mom."

I nodded.
"Hello son, you are 3 minutes late."
"Sorry, traffic." Sean said sheepishly.
I straightened my dress as I sat down, if it was not for the music, the restaurant could be completely silent, nobody apart from us and the waiters are here, it was...empty.
Sean's dad looked at my expression, " We own the restaurant."
"Apologies, Mr...?" I said, waiting for him to fill in the blank.
"Just call me David." He smiled.
"Sean, can you introduce us to her? " The lady sitting across me said.
"Of course." Sean said with a smile.
"Millie, this is my mom, Anna, that's my dad, this is my little brother, Sha-----"
"BIG BRO-------" A little boy jumped from his seat.
"Shawn! Sit down this instant! " Sean's mother, Anna, said.
The boy, Shawn sat down quietly, his little cheeks puffed up, clearly not happy.
"Yep, that's Shawn." Sean said.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, my name is Millie." I stood up and did a little curtsy.
"No need to be so formal dear." Anna said in a warm smile.
A waiter walked up to us, "I will be taking your orders for today."
David smiled, "Bob, you know what we want."
"056?" The waiter said.
Sean's dad nodded.
"Alright, 056, coming up."
I hate these kind of number calling, and I am sure y'all know why.
In less then 1 minute, the waiter came back , pushing a trolley.
"Hasselback Tomato Caprese, Balsamic-glazed steak rolls......." He said, placing plates after plates.
"And! Mediterranean shrimp." He said after placing down the last plate, "Smorgastarta for dessert? Sir?"
"Of course." David said.
I stared at the food, they look..... Shiny....for some reason.
Oh shoot, which one is the salad fork again?
I carefully looked through the forks and picked up the one in the middle.
Anna...it's so werid calling them by their name, let's just say, Mrs. White was looking and observing every move I'm making.
"Can you slightly tell us a bit more about yourself?" Mr. White asked, he seems like a kind person.
"I am 17, I come from Perizanda, Sean and I have been best friends since last year." I said.
Shawn, Sean's little brother beamed at me.
"Do you like ice cream?"
I smiled, "Yes, I like ice cream."
We talked and chatted through out dinner, everything went smoothly, they were really friendly and all, until.
"Millie, may we know your quirk? " Mrs. White asked.
Sean and the others frowned.
"Honey, I don't think we s-----"
"David." The lady said sternly.
What was I suppose to say?
Sean was really shock as well, he was trying to tell me something through eye contact, but I didn't get what he was trying to tell me.
"I...well..."
Mrs.White looked at me eagerly.
I bit my lips and shrugged to find the words.
"I'm a cripple."
Wow.
Out of all the proper lies I can make, I chose the most pathetic lie.
And the most 'honest' one at the same time.
Kang*
Mrs. White dropped her spoon, Sean and his dad looked at their plates.
Shawn looked at me with his mouth open.
Wait, am I not suppose to say that?
Or...they don't know that Sean is pretending to be a cripple...
"You're a cripple, and you still have the guts to befriend my son."
Yep, I definitely messed up.
