《Magnum Opus》1.7

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, my past self was a Great Magus and most likely not concerning himself. With taking care of basic needs like showering, when you can use spells, to make all those pesky mundane problems disappear. Jarred by our sudden stop, I had been to lost in my thoughts to notice we had left — the more open and obviously communal area of the Marble Hall for a more private Corredor. Made of dark grey marble, lined by doors on both sides and enchanted lights across the ceiling, it was very muted.
Alfred silently waved at the door we had stopped in front of, obviously signaling me to enter. Looking at him for clarification, I said, "You want me to go in there, right?"
In a gravelly tone of disuse, He said, "Yes, I'll wait here, you can find a change of cloth in the locker, and you can just throw what you're wearing now in the bin."
Looking confused, I said "hold on, if there's a change of clothes in there why did Madison have to run and get different ones. Also, how do I open the door, there's no handle?" looking irritated He said, " It's not like she gave me a chance to tell her anything before she ran off. Do you really think Daphnia and Mancin don't know their daughter? By the second day, you were here and had to tell her where they kept randomly going off to. Knowing Maddy's previous stunts, they had you added to their personal invite-list for Marble hall, to save themselves some hassle."
Well, that explains a lot and isn't surprising, thinking about it they seem the type. Smiling at him, blatantly ignoring his irritation, I said, "Thank you, I hope I'm not keeping you from something important."

He didn't respond, but I wasn't expecting that anyway, already heading towards the door. I almost tripped, I wasn't prepared for it to ripple out of my way, maybe slide or open by itself. But Definitely not for it to turn to water and part down the middle, I don't think I remember an enchantment for that. But after so many let downs, I Mise well take it in stride. Entering the lavatory, as the door flowed back together, I took in the room, it's white marble backdrop and dark wood furnishings. Didn't match the hallway at all, quickly undressing I tossed my clothes into the tube-like hamper.
Heading for the shower stall, I caught my reflection in a full-length mirror. I wonder if I could use my talent on my reflection, turning to face the mirror. I tap into my talent, slowly raising my perception of mana. After adjusting to the ambient mana, I'm able to see my reflection overlapped by mana. The scarring left by the o.m.s isn't very vibrant, it's more like trails of shimmering dust flowing throughout my body. Following the paths, it's easy to see where the scarring has healed and where it's still a little raw.
After readjusting my perception of mana to a more bearable level, I head to the shower stall lining the back of the room. The minute I stepped into the stall, water started pouring from the ceiling washing over me. It smelt like lavender and mint. Not knowing this enchantment either but not caring as I lost myself in relaxation, it was just so peaceful.
Thinking about the third seal on my memories, I wondered how long I should wait to condense a rune inside my body. Knowing the steps is the easy part but the possible repercussions from unlocking the seal. It definitely made me worried, adding all that knowledge at once, especially while my mind is still recovering from unlocking two seals so close together. Just to be on the safe side I'll wait a month, that's not too long, and it gives me time to make sure my body is just as ready as my mind.

Getting out of the shower, I felt even better than I did this morning, my mind felt refreshed, and I felt less worried about my future. I had forgotten to look for a towel, leaving the tile section outside the shower to look for one in the cabinet. The minute I stepped onto the dark wooden boards, they flashed a bright white color. Bathing my body in their light for just a few seconds, leaving me perfectly dry. At least this enchantment is familiar, or at least its effects are. If I remember correctly it's called Desert-b1 a very common enchantment.
Opening the cabinet, I found a stack of clothes pulling out the shirt. First, I slipped it on, it was a little loose, but it felt so soft. Pulling on the pants, sure they were a bit baggy, but they were comfortable. Going back to look in the mirror, while they don't look bad, The muddy browns and beige tones didn't help me look healthy. Laughing, feeling content, I head towards the door to leave.

Dear Spellbook (Link to rewrite in blurb)
A rewrite of this story has been posted here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/49881/dear-spellbook-a-fantasy-time-loop-rewrite Live. Study. Repeat. Tal is a sorcerer in a world where they are killed on sight, traveling with a man charged with carrying out the task. Every night Tal must pretend to study his spellbook to maintain his disguise as a Wizard’s Apprentice. If his disguise slips and his charade is uncovered, it will be his death. Seeking answers to mysteries that arose after his parent’s murder, Tal must accept any allies, no matter the risks, to uncover his family’s secret. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself trapped repeating the same day, he has to overcome his challenges all on his own. This story is an adaptation of a D&D campaign I ran but never was able to complete. I tried to capture the feel of a table-top RPG session —tropes and humor— without relying on the mechanics. This is not a litRPG or gamelit story and no D&D mechanics or system appear in the game. It follows one member of an adventuring party as he deals with the problems with that arise from being an adventurer. Namely, getting roped into adventures. The story has a time loop element, but will eventually move past that. This story explores the magic systems, the history, and the lore of the world through the lens of Tal's entries in his Spellbook and interludes from other written works in the world. New entries on Mondays Credit to JackOfHearts for the cover.
