《Saer Servitude》Chapter 40

"And kill these two as well." Commander Evar said. Their lives and horse’s life was same in his perspective. The beheader also paused to see whom Evar was referring to but resumed slicing after getting to know.
Saer dropped his sword and elbowed Fierlo to do the same but Fierlo was too scared to understand the sign language. By the time Fierlo dropped his sword in surrender, the soldiers were close.
"We were not here to attack you!" Saer said to the man approaching towards them.
"You shouldn’t have been here in the first place." Commander Evar said as the soldiers brought them down by their chest.
One soldier pulled Saer's hair to expose his neck. His neck cracked due to the strong stretch. He knew well that beheading was the method which Wernh’An’s soldiers preferred as an execution method.
"We are worshippers of Lord Wernh'An." Saer said when panic set in him.
His effort went in vain. Commander Evar didn’t even hear him.
Evar walked to the armors parts, picked its glove and smelled it. He spoke after hitting it with his finger, "This was a living armor. Look around, there must be the two femur bones which control it."
"Femurs?" the confused soldier asked.
"The bones they tap to fill life in the armors." Evar frowned, "Search for it."
Saer praised Wernh'An more for getting his attention. Evar pretended there was nobody speaking to him and, himself, kept searching for the bones.
"Tadeas told us something before he died!" Fierlo yelled as the sharp edge of dagger touched his neck. He could not imagine how painful it would feel against his trachea.
Commander Evar didn’t exchange words but the soldier about to decapitate him said, "Rather die silent than by spilling out lies."

"Slice us up and you will regret this for rest of your days." Fierlo got courage to say, "By days, I mean days."
Saer glanced at Fierlo then at Commander Evar. Evar somehow had decided to listen what Fierlo had to say. Saer didn’t know if he should be taking it as a miracle or just stretching of anxious time.
Commander had signaled the soldiers to stop. Saer felt more scared than ever by realizing how close he was near to death.
A guard came there, holding a broken femur, "Found this one only. Even this is broken. Tadeas must have thrown the other bone away so that nobody else takes it."
Evar nodded after listening to him but did not reply.
"What did Tadeas tell you?" Commander Evar spoke to the captives.
"He said he had weap-"
"I am not asking you." Evar knelt towards Fierlo, "You tell me about the weapon your friend was talking about." He asked Saer.
"Weapon? Err.… Tadeas had weapon- No! Nortze has a wea-" Saer struggled to compose lies.
"They are lying." Commander Evar stood up, "They have lies for their defense."
"Nortze has a weapon which can kill any enemy." Fierlo screamed, "Tadeas even told us what it is before he died."
"You two look familiar." Commander Evar said, "You must be among the cut-throats sworn to protect Calajhans."
"Nortze killed our friends. Why would we protect him?" Saer said in soft voice.
"So the bodies here…." Commander Evar scanned around.
"Yes. Our friends."
The soldier who was told to behead Tadeas' corpse came with the head and showed it to Evar.
"Neat cut." Commander Evar said, observing the fleshy part, "And you two. Did you murder Tadeas?" he questioned while his man was putting the head inside a sack.

"First we tricked him to speak the secret then killed him so that nobody else could get wind of it." said Saer.
"Death with such lies. What a shame-"
"I think he has killed Wernh'An already. Otherwise he would have been here with you." Saer interrupted him.
Commander Evar's pupils expanded.
The soldiers listening to him looked at each other and somehow found agreement written all over their faces.
"Tie them." Commander Evar said, "They are going to Hilcastle."

I am quite busy and write this during breaks at work. This is one of those goon-squad stories with a million characters, so "dizzying" might be a good way to describe the energy. Much of what builds up to the first arc happens in the first ten chapters, which are quite long. For that reason, if you have difficulty getting through the story, I understand, though things don't really start happening until Chapter 8-10.
