Yun Fei moved back to his room, his mood elevated.
'If I had reasoned it out properly, I would've figured this out yesterday itself. Carving out a path for myself, that's one method that has to work.
It just doesn't make sense otherwise, this must be the reason for me being able to cultivate the eye technique left by Sun Ming.
It was quite hard to get started but once I was able to get used to it, I could circulate the technique without any problems.
Since it's also a human cultivation technique, it's foundation must also be based on human meridians and anatomical system.
I was able to replicate the pathways described in the technique, there's a high chance that I will be able to carve out meridians described in the book, inside my body.'
Yun Fei hurriedly entered his room and opened the Qi condensation manual. He looked at the page describing the first set of meridians for some time and then sat down with a determined look on his face.
Gathering the Qi saturating his tissue, He began to picture the flow, starting from the 4th rib on the right side of his body.
Concentrating the Qi there, he tried to mimic the path of the Qi described in the manual through his body, making imaginary meredians that the Qi followed.
Yun Fei's brow grew damp with sweat, and his face turned red from exertion. He had been trying to mimic the flow of Qi described in the manual for the last 6 hours but he made no progress whatsoever.
'This won't do, I just can't get that same feeling like I got when I started cultivating the eye technique.
Just what is different from back then? Is it the depth? Could it be the direction?' thought Yun Fei to himself as he once again tried circulating his Qi, this time with some more depth.
'Its working, but this feels a little off. The pain is too little compared to that day.'
Yun Fei once again experimented, this time by carving the path from outside to in instead of doing it from inside to the outside. Picturing the meridian seemingly imploding into existence.
Just as Yun Fei tried to concentrate the Qi he absorbed from outside to flow through the described pathway, he could instantly feel that familiar dull pain starting after some time.
Yun Fei kept doing this for some hours before he stopped, panting heavily, perspiration bathing his body.
'Is this the limit of physical pain? It's almost as if my soul is being seared little by little, to allow the structure of my body to change. It just keeps increasing without any limit, directly correlated to time.'
Yun Fei thought with a smile on his face.
'This pain is nothing if I compare it to the benefits that I can receive by going through it, only a fool or a coward would back off now and Yun Fei is neither.'
Tolerating the burning pain, Yun Fei didn't back off and kept trying to carve the meridians into his body structure.
As a dull pop sound sounded in the room, Yun Fei's face lit up with a smile and his mental state elevated, providing him with more hope and grit. His laughter echoed in the room as he shed all the gloomy mood from before.
He was finally able to open the first set of meridians.

"It was just as I thought, I do have a way. The Qi inside my body is circulating through the set of meredians I just created, However the chaotic flow in the rest of my body is not disturbed."
Yun Fei's motivation soared because of his preliminary success, he controlled his breathing and became determined to carve out the next set of meredians mentioned in the booklet.
Each set of meredians represented one level of Qi condensation, which meant that Yun Fei would be considered at Qi Condensation level one among normal humans although his combat strength would be far beyond that because of the total quantity of Qi in his body.
Toiling away for progress, Yun Fei took only momentary rests as he continued altering the structure of his body.
One month later,
Yun Fei opened his eyes and exhaled foul air from his mouth as he took a deep breath again, taking a break to rest his mind from his continuous cultivation, he tried summing up his progress inside his mind.
'I've finally carved the 3rd set of meredians, it has almost taken me a month to reach this level of progress. Although the first set only took a single day, the second took 10 days while the third took 20.
It's progressively harder to change the structure as the free Qi in the rest of my body keeps decreasing everytime I create a set of paths.
The registration date for the city guard examination should be near, I should take a break and continue with cultivation after registration.'
He exited his room and went downstairs to the hall. Just as he looked towards the bustling crowd, he noticed a familiar face.
"Devanshu!"
Yun Fei called out towards the boy mopping the floor of the hall with a focused demeanor.
His concentration broken, Devanshu looked towards the direction that he heard his name from.
Smiling with pleasure Devanshu called out while moving towards Yun Fei.
"Woah, master just what were you doing holed up in your room for the past month?"
"I was cultivating, but when did you get a job at this Inn?" Asked Yun Fei
"Master, I do a lot of jobs. There isn't a job that I've left undone, I provide services, the consolate handyman."
Yun Fei felt a little amused by the antics of this boy who had a different life than his own. He grabbed a gold coin from out of his space pouch and flicked it towards Devanshu as he said.
"Take me to the closest city guards office and that's yours."
"Oh!!, Is master also registering for the city guard selection examination. A person as dashing and strong as master will definitely get selected."
"Enough with the flattery, take me to the guards office."
Devanshu chattered some more as he asked for a break from the owner of the inn and walked outside the inn, guiding Yun Fei to the guards office.
"Master, this time a lot of people have come from the surrounding small cities and clans to apply for this examination.
Although I don't doubt master's skills, it would pay off to be more prudent while dealing with these people."
Devanshu was great at talking and he told Yun Fei things about the city and other mundane but interesting things from his life, Yun Fei didn't mind his blabberings and inserted a word or two to continue the conversation.

As they walked along the street, a grating voice bleated out,
"MOVE, MOVE, MOVE. Get out of the way."
Yun Fei turned around to look and what greeted his sight was a single horse carriage adorned with lavish furnishings which seemed too ostentatious, completely overdone.
"MAKE WAY FOR THE LORD, Whitesky family's young lord, young master Deng Bing is coming through."
The skinny man with yellow skin who was the jockey called out loudly towards the completely wide and empty street which just had Yun Fei and Devanshu walking along its edge.
Yun Fei was completely perplexed as he looked on towards the solo act of the jockey as he called out the name of the passenger again and again while he shouted towards the completely empty street in front of him.
"Is this guy retarded?" Yun Fei asked Devanshu, seriously.
"Master, stop, you can't say that they'll hear you-"
"You, what did you just call my servant, do you dare to say it again."
Cutting Devanshu's voice, a shrill voice echoed out from inside the carriage.
"He's the big eared Deng bing, he has superior hearing ability since birth."
"You!!!!, Who is big eared. You bastard, you dare to insult me to my face."
The voice resounded again as a short man stepped out of the carriage. The man looked completely normal except for his ears which were as big as an elephants.
The short man drew long breaths, which made his ears flap a little. The jockey stood behind him staring with a threatening gaze towards Yun Fei and Devanshu.
"Master we could be in big trouble, although the Whitesky family has declined, they still hold some clout a ways away from Sungon.
Big eared Deng bing is actually the heir to the family, he is known to take stupid and rash decisions."
"You dare call me big eared, stupid and rash to my face. I'll feed you to the pigeons."
The yellow skinned guy hurriedly whispered something into the big ears of Deng Bing.
"I meant crows, not pigeons. I'll feed you to the crows. The black ones."
The absurdity of the situation felt somewhat comedic to Yun Fei as he suddenly started laughing.
"You, how dare you! I will definitely get your ass when I'm free. I just have something to do right now or you'd be dead, I'll kill you bastard."
The lackey once agained whispered into the ears of Deng Bing which made him fumble a little as he called out.
"I'll call of this matter for now, just wait for me to get back at you. Bastards" saying this Deng Bing once again sat inside the carriage and the clown show moved forwards.
"Master, the good thing is that Deng Bing is actually a coward, he never actually does anything because he's always afraid of unnecessary consequences which might not ever come to fruition.
That guy doesn't even break any laws in the city, every body knows that he's all talk. I thought it was just a rumour to slander him. Who would've thought that it was actually true."
As the carriage moved along the street by passing Yun Fei and Devanshu an angry voice echoed from the front.
"I'm not a coward, you moron. I'll kill you."
Yun Fei stopped laughing as he thought to himself that there really were all sorts of people in the world.
After walking for some time, they finally reached a wide street on which stood a grand building. The traffic through it was enough to make clear its purpous.
Some people who were exiting the place had sour looks while some carried neutral expressions. Yun Fei figured that simply registering for the examination might have some qualification criteria too.
"Ok master, that's the place to register. I have some more work to do at the Inn so I'll be going back. If you have some other job, don't forget to call me."
Yun Fei separated from Devanshu and entered the establishment. What greeted his sight was a large hall with some desks set up with people queuing up in front of them.
Yun Fei went and lined up to the place with the fewest number of people.
As the process was relatively fast, Yun Fei was at the front of the line in just 10 minutes.
"Write your name and age down and enter the room on the right for a basic test to register."
Yun Fei followed the instructions of the official and moved towards the room on the right after he entered his name in a list.
As Yun Fei opened the door, he didn't even have any time to properly assess his surroundings when his field of view was covered completely with a foot that was coming closer and closer to his face.
This kind of surprise attack wasn't really effective on Yun Fei as it was too slow to catch his eyes off guard.
'Is this the basic test?'
He thought to himself as he ducked down to allow the kick to pass over his head and then tried to sweep the leg of the kicker with a kick from his left leg.
"Ohh!!"
A surprised sounding voice echoed in the empty room as the attacker jumped to avoid Yun Fei's sweep.
"Kid You're good, you are the first one today to dodge instead of blocking my surprise attack."
The man quipped as his big toe lashed out in another kick to Yun Fei's lowered face.
Usually if someone gets attacked by surprise, they don't have enough time to dodge it and can only block, but Yun Fei's superior motion vision allowed him enough time dodge and execute a counter attack.
"Take this and enter your Qi inside it to verify your cultivation level. Only people at and above Qi condensation 3rd stage are allowed to register for the main exam."
Said the man while moving backwards as even the second kick was effortlessly dodged.
Yun Fei relaxed his body and raised his hand to catch the thing that was flying towards him when he suddenly changed the trajectory of his arm and moved as if he was going to slap the air.
"Ting!!"
A crisp noise echoed as a small knife was slapped out of the air and then fell to the ground.
"HAHAHAHA, you survived this too. Good, you're good ."
Yun Fei looked towards the tall and bearded guy in front of him as he caught something like a stick flying through the air.
"Concentrate and circulate your Qi through it for some time."
Yun Fei poured in his Qi inside the stick using the meredians that he had created with a month's hardwork.

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
