"How dare you touch her! Die!" Chad rushed towards the enemy with an ax in his hand, ready to strike at any moment. The giant spider didn't stand on the spot either but moved half of its legs forth in an attempt to swat the human away.
Bang!
Ax and spider's skin collided, causing a loud bang. Unexpectedly, the weapon didn't even leave a hint of damage on the beast's skin and was instead pushed away. Unprepared by such development, Chad was flung backward again.
This time, however, he was also raked by several cobwebs that caused his movements to be entirely postponed. Although Chad was quite a sturdy man, he was unable to free himself from the nets even after using all the Qi he could.
"What the hell do you think you're doing? Get back here!" Chad saw the spider turn its back on him and focus on Eva.
"Chad! Save me! Use your divine power!" Eva screamed at the sight of the approaching beast.
Without further doubting himself, Chad let Qi flow into his body as he closed his eyes. The entire area instantly tensed as the dungeon's ruler looked backward in alarm.
'A divine power'
For the first time since the battle began, Cale was impressed. He had originally thought that this huge man would be killed in a matter of seconds, but he was proven wrong.
"Ahh!!!" Chad roared loudly as his entire body grew in size. The silver armor that previously covered Chad's muscles fell to the ground with a soft thud.
"Poof...poof" After a few more seconds of complete silence, Chad reopened his eyes. This time, they were filled with unexplainable confidence.
Rip! Rip!
Facilely, Chad tore apart the cobwebs as he once again grabbed the ax and lunged at the beast. Spider, while somewhat confused at this human's sudden increase in power, did not simply wait for Chad to approach him.

Pew! Pew!
Spider incessantly emitted webs while Chad proceeded to advance, deftly dodging each of the attacks coming at him. After a few more seconds, Chad was already right in front of the beast as he swung his ax at one of its legs.
Thud!
Unlike last time, the ax severed the leg smoothly, causing purple blood to splatter all over the perimeter.
"Screechhh!!!"
With a loud shriek, the spider furiously began pouring more webs at the small creature. Suddenly, a thick energy layer covered one of its legs as Chad subconsciously leaped away.
"What are you doing! Kill him!" Eva shouted after seeing Chad helplessly dodging each attack.
Boom!
Distracted by the sudden scream, Chad was rammed into the ground by the huge leg. Blood spurted from his mouth, while the bright red glow in his eyes soothed.
"Bastard..." Chad muttered weakly, trying to knock the beast's limb away from his chest, but instead, he was slammed further into the ground.
"Don't you dare die, Chad! How am I supposed to get out of here then?!" Eva was aggravated by the scene.
Pew!
Chad's vision was blocked by a thick layer of nets as he continued to be compressed. No longer able to breathe nor see, Chad's Qi flow was disrupted, making it easier for the beast to crush him.
'It's time'
Cale, who had been hiding all this time, moved when he saw the opportunity. One of his hands was covered in rusty bronze paint as he appeared right behind the spider.
Boom! Boom!
Catching the spider by surprise, Cale landed two continuous hits on the spider's back, and while it didn't leave too much damage, it was more than enough to distract it.
As soon as Cale saw the spider turn around, he promptly rolled under its limbs until he appeared by the sturdy man, who was still struggling to get the web out of his face.

"Don't even try, your fate is predetermined," Cale rustled before plunging the knife into Chad's bare chest. Because of the lack of oxygen, it didn't take long for Chad to pass out and eventually die.
"Who the hell are you!" Eva saw every movement of the suddenly appearing person, but couldn't stop any of his actions since she was still stuck on the ground.
Cale, on the other hand, completely ignored the golden-haired woman's shouts and instead focused on the spider's approaching leg. Unfortunately, Cale wasn't fast enough to dodge as he was sent astern. Sticking the sword into the ground, Cale managed to stop himself after a few seconds.
'What a monster,' Cale cursed internally, feeling inexplicable pain in his chest. Despite having a few bones broken, Cale's inner smile didn't fade away.
Hiss! Hiss!
A ball of light that was already slowly dissipating hovered over one of Cale's hands. After preparing himself for the impending pain, Cale let it flow into his body.
Initially, he wanted to absorb the energy of the dungeon's ruler, but under these circumstances, he couldn't even attempt to do it. The difference between their powers was too huge, and Cale could only hope to breakthrough right now, getting at least some chances of survival.
Boom!
"Screech!" The spider was getting angrier and angrier at its continuous failure to kill the human. Mats once again formed on its face and darted forth at an inexplicable speed. Since the absorption began, Cale's movement was somewhat restrained due to the itchiness all over the body.
"I can't let any of this hit me!"
Cale shouted as he continued to dodge every incoming attack by a hair. However, after a few seconds, the entire area around Cale was covered in sticky cobwebs, leaving no escape routes.
Pew!
At the same time when the last mat was shot out, two screens appeared in front of him, indicating that the absorption had ended. Unfortunately, it was too late to react as the webs fell on Cale, knocking him to the ground.
"I need to get out fast!" Cale cursed and tried to rip the webs away, but after being spewed by the spider two more times, that was no longer possible.
"Damn it! What am I supposed to do now!" Cale's vision was completely plunged into darkness, and the only source of light was the shimmering blue screen on the side.

Sexy Sect Babes
“One in a billion.” Jack kept repeating the mantra in his head. “One in a billion.” That was the number the Omni-Corps liked to cite whenever someone stepped onto one trans-mat pad and then simply… never stepped off the other. “Safer than a car,” he repeated as he slogged through the snow, his mining overalls doing at least a passable job of keeping out the cold as he brushed aside a tree branch. “Safer than a plane. Or a starship. Safest form of transport in the Star League.” He slammed his fist into a nearby tree, exo-empowered strength shattering it into little more than scattered bark and kindling. “Yeah, well I never heard of a car ride stranding some prick in another dimension!” He roared, his voice echoing through the seemingly endless forest around him. Then he kept marching. He’d seen the fire off in the distance. And given all the snow around, he sincerely doubted it was natural. Which left the unnatural. Which meant people. He hoped. Because even if the trans-mat had screwed up, he doubted it had dumped him too far off the central finite curve. The fact that the air was breathable and that he could recognize the trees around him as oak told him that much. And if the dimension he was in had trees native to Earth, chances are it would have animals too. Of which humans would hopefully be no exception. “Because I’ll be damned if I spend the rest of my days talking to goddamn squirrels.” No, if there were humans on this mudball, he was going to find them. One way or another.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
