《The Sacred Beast Sect》The Exams Nears Its End

The following few participants all tried to at least match up to Li Huo and the others, but those three were just insane geniuses. Lady Feng hadn’t passed anyone after Li Huo and among the ones she failed were important officials children. Because of this many noble families were disgruntled but against the force of the Sacred Beast Sect how could they talk back.
“Sis, maybe you should pass a few more” Lord Hei sent Lady Feng a message through thought transmission. Lady Feng so far had only passed 3 people and all three of them were super geniuses. However many of the peoples failed are scions of important families and considered geniuses so failing them might have the consequence of sowing bad blood with important families but also turn away new disciples as they would feel the requirements were too high.
“What? Why?” Lady Feng was confused, she’d done her job as she though most appropriate, all of the people she failed and most of the remaining participants don’t meet up to her standard.
“Sis, don’t you see the nobles are getting agitated? Many of these participants are considered geniuses and failing them would set the bar of our recruitment too high” Lord Hei was now really regretting letting Lady Feng do the testing.
“Big brother Hei, our Sacred Beast Sect have always been strict in our disciples. Even during declining times this standard could be considered low.” Lady Feng of course didn’t agree with Lord Hei’s arguments, after all Sacred Beast Sect only allowed the best even during the time of their predecessors.
“Sis, you haven’t been out much but much but in modern times we need the large amounts of new disciples. Besides a lot of them turned out great, didn’t that one crystal crab become a god?” Lord Hei retorted.

“You Talking about Xia Hai? Isn’t he still a Demigod after all these years.” Lady Feng argued.
“He’s junior sister Shuidi’s disciple and there are plenty like him. Come on its just a few, pass maybe every 2 in 5, sound good?” Lord Hei countered back.
“Ah fine, if I don’t do as you say you’re nana nag me to death” Lady Feng finally agreed. Of course his entire argument took place through though transmission and happened in less then an instant. This technique isn’t considered advanced and any half baked cultivator could do it, powerful ones could even eaves drop on the conversation. Of course no one was even able to hear this, not even Wan Kun’s Immortal King master.
The subsequent few participants had an easier time getting in. Since Lady Feng stopped being so strict more people were recruited. This outcome eased many peoples hearts as they believed Lady Feng’s standards were too high, but that was understandable seeing as the peoples passed are almost guaranteed to become immortals. However the people she failed were just too many, out of the 120 that participated 56 passed the first stage and more then 20 were already eliminated. while this is a lot compared to previous years it still isn’t too much that its a big deal.
“Pass” “Pass” “Pass” “Fail” “Pass” “Fail”
Young men and young women one after another through or at least tried to fight Lady Feng and with her standards lessened, many were able to pass.
“Hey quite a few people got in after all” “Yeah they were all really cool out there” The crowd chatted amongst themselves on the many battles. Many of the participants demonstrated many magic arts and weapons art and there was even a someone who used a Zither as a weapon. Music instrument users were quite rare after all so of course the young lady got in.

“Only two left” “Who do you think is going to to better” The exam was already coming to a close after all. There were only to participants left, naturally they were Zi Cheng and Wan Kun.
“Definitely Zi Cheng, he’s a duke’s sons and already at Spirit Severing at 19. Who the hell’s even Wan Kun?” This was the common belief through the crowd’s thoughts.
“Alright which one among you wants to go first” Lady Feng looked to the two remaining participants ‘based on what I can at least somewhat remember from my previous life, the protagonist will go second and trump everyone else’s performance. With an Immortal King for a master he just might’.
“I will” Zi Cheng walked nervously in front of Lady Feng, the performances of many other participants have at least humbled him. He could recognise many of them were equal and greater to him, he was pampered and arrogant not stupid.
“Get ready Senior” Zi Cheng then began his assault.
‘Cheng’er be careful’ Zi Yahui was too nervous for his son especially after seeing the other participants. Zi Cheng maybe well known but majority of the experts wanted to keep themselves anonymous which is why majority of the crowd did not recognise them, even Da Chang and Li Huo were the same.
Zi Cheng charged towards Lady Feng and threw punch after punch all of which were hard countered by Lady Feng who proceeded to kick him back.
“Gah” Zi Cheng tumbled several metres back. Getting up he began attacking again.
“This Zi Cheng is quite good” Lord Hei couldn’t help but say. “Yes Yes, of course Lord Hei. My son Zi Cheng is amongst the best” not missing the chance Zi Yahui shamelessly bragged about his son.
“Yah” Zi Cheng was hit with a palm form Lady Feng. ‘Oh god it feels like being hit with a hard rock while simultaneously being burned’ Zi Cheng flew back once more. His many consecutive attacks have all failed, he couldn’t eve get in once, not even the elders at the imperial academy could do this.
‘This Zi Cheng is a good seedling, he maybe spoilt and arrogant but he is a good worker. It seems his jealousy over Li Huo was over the fact that he himself was not that talented’ with a scrying technique Lady Feng was able to grasp Zi Cheng’s entire history, in fact she had done this with everyone she tested. Making up her mind “Very well Zi Cheng, you passed”.
“I passed” slowly Zi Cheng smiled and looked over at his father who in turn smiled back at him. “You did well son” Zi Yahui transmuted to his son.
“Duke Zi it seems your son is quite good” Shi Wan was also slightly impressed with Zi Cheng’s performance, while it was not on the level of Da Chang, Li Huo or his own son Shi Xuegang it was impressive.
Lord Hei then got up and escorted Zi Cheng off to the others, he too was quite impressed. While he lacked power Zi Cheng made up for it in skill and technique. He certainly had more finesse then many others in his own age group.
Lady Feng turned towards the final participant Wan Kun ‘Lets see what the protagonist archetype could do’.
Wan Kun also acknowledged Lady Feng ‘alright, lets give them show they’ll remember’.

Immovable Mage
What do you call a mage incapable of casting spells? In this story, we usually call him Terry. When the boy is accepted into Arcana Academy, his talent in the pillars of mana foundation awes everyone. All the bigger is the eventual disappointment when Terry turns out to be an utter failure at spellwork. Diagnosis? Major aspect impairment. No cure. Ever. Faced with expulsion, Terry is blessed with the unexpected kindness of others. Terry loses his spot in the Academy but in exchange, he finds a home with a family. Terry starts to train as a pure mana cultivator but never stops looking for his own path as a mage – day after day, season after season, always searching for compatible spellwork… Until finally, Terry’s perseverance earns him a single spell – the only spell he will ever be able to cast. Disclaimers: Chapter Frequency: I aim for one chapter a week. Chapter Length: I try to keep chapters between 3000 and 6000 words. Binge Preference: I plan for 30 chapters per arc. If you want to binge a complete arc, then that is the number to wait for. I will also add a line to chapters indicating the beginning and end of an arc. Advanced Access: I have created a patreon page with early access to four chapters for patrons. What to Expect: Progression fantasy with a western fantasy setting and with eastern fantasy elements. A main character that is forced to explore a very narrow path of magic due to a permanent condition. A main character that is a part of a larger cast. A main character that is growing but won't become the strongest around anytime soon. A story following a single main character but with introduction or theme setting scenes without the main character. What Not to Expect: Edgy grimdark characters – I will never write a sexual violence scene or gory descriptions of torture. I hate reading it and I would hate writing it even more. Romance – romantic relationships will never be the focus of the story and only appear in the background. The main character is preoccupied with other stuff. Other forms of relationships (family, friends, companions) play a bigger role. Cover: The cover art was commisioned from redditor Linh-Nguyen87. The font is alita brush by Inovatype Typefoundry. Overview: 001–030 Arc 1, Cultivating Perseverance: complete. 031–060 Arc 2, Undying Defiance: complete. 061–090 Arc 3, Unyielding Fury: scheduled for publishing. 091–120 Arc 4, Savage Hope: scheduled for publishing. 121–150 Arc 5, Self-Made Fate: first draft in progress. 151–180 Arc 6, Heretic Style: sketching in progress. Further Arcs are still in the sketching and idea collection phase.
