《Romance of the Three Beasts》4.2 - Wolf Warmed Up

Though Wolf preferred to hunt together, he hunted his prey alone. He knew how much Tiger enjoyed his solitude, so Wolf left him be.
His enhanced senses allowed him to know the location of any creature within a short distance without necessarily being able to see it.
He stopped on the branch of a tree and then hopped down. He landed with an audible thud and stared at the creature in front of him.
He had made his presence smaller, not wanting to scare away any prey he could have encountered. However, this was not a prey he wanted to actually hunt.
Ahead of him was the long, slender body of a Silver Deer.
‘Magnificent…’
It had a long mane of it’s namesake, silvery hair that sparkled even under the dim shade of the trees. It’s antlers were even more audacious, revealing it’s presence even under completely darkness. The creature was quicker than most others, and knew magic to escape if it needed.
Wolf bowed his head towards it.
“Wonderous creature, forgive my intrusion.” Wolf turned before he felt a tingle. He paused his movement and then turned to face the creature, which stared at him with golden eyes. He could feel the intense presence it gave off.
He stepped forward with it’s permission. His heart was pounding within his chest. It had been some time since he last met a wondrous creature, too long.
‘You are of Wolf.’ The creature spoke directly within his mind.
Wolf bowed his head, kneeling onto the ground. “Yes.”
‘Been too long… since last met.’
He looked up at it curiously. It returned the curious gaze.
‘How is mistress?’
“Well.” Wolf continued to bow his head, eyes closed.
‘Send regards.’
“As you wish.” Wolf looked up and then nodded.

The creature returned the nod and bounded away. Wolf remained in place for some time. His heart felt as though it had almost stopped. This particular wondrous creature had been on a level beyond him, though that was the same as most others. He waited in place for so long that Tiger, dragging the corpse of the Selt Bear, arrived onto the scene.
“Ho!” Tiger grinned as he displayed his defeated prey, tossing it forward.
“ASelt Bear?”
“Yeah, better than nothing. Speaking of which, where’s your-” Tiger grimaced and then sniffed the air. “What’s that…” He looked around. “What a funky smell…” Tiger winced.
Wolf nodded and then silently walked off.
A confused Tiger followed.
“Wondrous creature?”
Wolf didn’t reply, but Tiger understood.
“Eh. Weird.” Tiger looked around, catching traces of whatever wondrous creature it was. “I don’t like them. None of them.”
Wolf glanced back.
“Oi… she doesn’t count.” Tiger dragged along the creature behind him.
“A Selt Bear…” Wolf repeated, which was rare in and of itself.
Tiger smirked.
Wolf recalled the time when he was younger, when Tiger and he first met. He was barely beyond a toddler at the time, and he had trained with his uncle for some time. It was right after his father’s death, so Wolf had been a broody little thing. The first task they had together was to hunt a Selt Bear. It was difficult, and they almost died, if it hadn’t been for Dragon who came in to secure the kill.
Well, they had viewed it as stealing their kill, but that was then. They were still children at the time. Wolf shared a glance with Tiger, and they both nodded as they reminisced about it together.
The pair eventually cooked it and feasted on the Selt Bear. They parted it out between one another. They cleaned it and then Tiger wrapped it around with some branches he had fashioned into some rope using strips of the wood after soaking it in the fat of the creature.
“Alright. Are you good for a couple of days?” Tiger asked as he fashioned the creature’s pelt into a large sash that wrapped around his stomach.
“Yes.”
The pair then bounded away together, refreshed.

Two Sides
Heroes and monsters are the staples of fantasy. Swords and magic, fairies and dragons, adventures and death; all things went hand in hand in some worlds not our own. Elaine Dawn grew up listening to those stories as a child, imagining, aspiring, yet as she grew she slowly lost her dreams and became detached from what the world could be, slowly becoming one with the world that was. Yet one night she found herself in a dream that became reality, and oh there they were; heroes and monsters, swords of steel, magic of tales, fairies and dragons of old, and adventures that held riches and death both. She had no fantastic magic, no supernatural strength. All she had was herself, her coin, and her life. But that was enough. As she stared into the distance, to the mountain-sized horrors of the night, she smiled and tossed her coin once again.

Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.

Captain Critiques: A Grumpy Pirate Review Book
(CURRENTLY OPEN)When it comes to reviews, I'm probably as harsh as the hellhole most story ideas crawl out of. I'm blunt, sarcasic, to the point and I know what I like in a story. As you can probably guess, you don't wanna take my advice if your like an overprotective mother about your story. Who am I kidding, EVERYONE is like that about their stories. But, if you could find the courage to pry the story out of your cold, crabby hands so I can give my brutally honest opinion then be my guest. Just don't try and start a fight once I provide it. You DON'T wanna fight a pirate. .................................. I reserve the right to decline stories as this will be taking up quite a bit of my time and if I say no, I mean NO. If your blurb is unreadable I will decline it. If it includes the genres mentioned in my 'Hell No' section then I will send it back where it came from.Do NOT critique the Captain.
