《Romance of the Three Beasts》13.3 - Dragon's Training

Dragon made his way towards the waterfall. He stripped down until he was in his barest form. He then stepped over the cold stone.
The underground waterfall was formed by the river that run through the mountains. Dragon didn’t know the source of it, but he heard that it had the same source as the lake they normally basked in. This meant that it had great healing properties within it, as well as a great source of maximising one’s own ki.
Still, Dragon didn’t intend on fixing himself at first. He wanted to go in whilst his inner ki was still shattered, this way he could improve the strength of the shattered ki, and it would translate over to when he finally fixed himself. At least, that was his theory.
He sat under the waterfall, the force is it rushing down atop his head and his shoulders. He closed his eyes and then clasped his fingers against his knees. He clutched for a moment, wincing under the force of the waterfall, before then finally relaxing. He inhaled deeply.
Every so often the water would press harder against his body, causing him to shudder, but he remained vigilant and still.
His eyes opened as he stared into his memories, watching everything burn around him. The screams, the wailing, the terror filled him. His lungs expanded wildly as he clutched onto his knees, causing his knuckles to whiten.
The rage built it within him, but he forced it out of him. Inhaling the rage, then exhaling it. Yet it kept creeping back, into him, into his heart, and then deep into his soul.
He continued to repeat the nightmare, again and again. It lasted for seconds, then minutes, then hours.
Eventually, it turned into days.
The continual assault of the nightmares caused him great distress, but that was the point. He needed to go through it, over and over, so that he could find out more about what happened at the time. Did he miss something that could tell him who the true enemy was?

He wanted to know. There was a quicker way to know, he could always stab himself to find out, but he was too weak for that at the moment. He continued to plague himself with these nightmares until he had enough. Then he tried to find that place, the same place he always went to when it was all too much, the place with no noise, only a field of flowers.
He could feel it, the petals under his bare skin, the stems that tickled his sides. The warmth of the sun against his skin, he could bask under it for an eternity. Then he snapped out of it.
No.
He had to stop thinking. Whether it be darkness, or light, he needed to stop. That’s what his brothers were doing. They needed to stop thinking to increase their strengths. So did Dragon. Yet it was tough.
Still. Just because something was hard, that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
Dragon’s muscles were beaten down by the water. It continued to crash against his body, and though he could feel himself grow weaker with each passing moment, he knew Tiger would be there right at the end to save him.
Just like he had not weeks ago, and just like he always did. So Dragon stopped thinking, he stopped thinking until Tiger woke him.
Yet… every now and again, there was a ping in the back of his mind. It was a question he had asked himself for a while now.
Why did Black Calamity kill Raging Tiger?
There was one thing his mentor had told him.
It was his responsibility at the time to do so.
Would Dragon have to kill Tiger in the future?
Could Dragon kill Tiger?

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5

Wild Steam
Get on a train. Head east. Get on a ship. Travel further east, in style. See some wonders of the world. Find what was lost. Find where home is. How hard is any of that?Well, for Jake Ranger, pretty damned hard. The world being a wild, crazy mess from a global altering event called the Shattering doesn’t help much. Nor does being a famous folk hero. That last one really sucks, because people always run up to famous heroes and beg them for help with all their problems. Then there are the actual outlaws and monsters. They don’t help much either. Mostly they just get in the way and make everything way worse. And in a world that is so screwed up decades after the Shattering, there is a lot of variety to both outlaw and monster. Then there are the more civilized, (read: sane), non-human folk, and good old humans as well. They all get along just spectacularly. Totally best friends, on every level, for life. Of course getting to the east coast is only half the battle. Once there, he must contend with the so-called “civilized people.” Then there’s the ship ride; pirates and sea monsters are a thing too, after all. Should have read the brochure. But when the chips are down, the bad guys are winning and the wild winds of chaos are blowing, it helps to have a fighter on your side. Even if he is a little wild. After all, that’s not really a problem. That’s what beautiful women and lots of gold is for. Proper motivation is always key to success. Welcome to a Steampunk, Wild West, Victorian era, Lovecraftian infested, fantasy, shoot ‘em up world. Complete with a slow build harem of badass beautiful women, crazy adventures, and fun, monstrous villains. Welcome to the world of Wild Steam. Do enjoy your stay.

Monstrous Path
This story is both dark and lighthearted, it will have a lot of deaths and gore scenes but not just for the sake of being edgy or something like that. Every being comes from someone’s life — a womb, an egg, the world, a God, and from itself. Then what about me? I came from a container, so what does that make me? Am I still a being? “I do not know — I want to understand — why?” This was my driving force to live when I opened my eyes, I had no need for food, I only needed to satiate my curiosity. But as I learned early on, life was not as simple as it seemed. Note: The Characters in this world would always have a reason for living, and the world moves not just because of the MC. This would also have a lot of tearjerking scenes (or so I would hope) Culture, Race, Government, and Language can and will be different and though some Races like Elves and Dwarves are present, please do not think that they are the same as every other.
