《A Side Villain’s Ballad.》009 That works

Neidr just stared at this rampaging Rackler for a few seconds. He was too tired to fight it. Hell, even in top condition, he would just straight up lose. Don't even talk about running, either, there was no way to escape death. Giving out a long sigh, he turned to the side and started walking off the road. He sat down at a nearby rock, and waited for what may come. He watched as the Rackler ignored him entirely and charged forth into the great beyond. Heaving a huge sigh of relief, Neidr deflated and laid on the ground. He had been through too much today and decided the damn lizard would either kill him or it wouldn't. Not five minutes later, the hurried steps of the girl closed in. A short gasp and then,
"Holy shit a dead dude!"[Arrieta] Neidr just opened his eyes and looked at her,
"Wrong."[Neidr] The girl jumped back in surprise and shouted,
"A fuckin zombie, no way!" [Arrieta]
...
'How about some compassion for your fellow man? Why is dead the only option?' Neidr was irritated, but he replied calmly,
"try again."[Neidr] Soon, a look of understanding appeared on her face as she spoke,
"Woah, you're alive?"[Arrieta]
'I'm starting to wish I wasn't.'
"For now." [Neidr]Her face scrunched up, and she spoke with passion and clarity.
"Dontcha worry, I'm a pro at this!" [Arrieta]she pumped her fists and grabbed Neidr by the armpits, she continued to speak
"I'll have ya fixed up in no time!" [Arrieta]Neidr could try to get up and fight off this girl, but at this point that just might be more trouble than its worth. He wasn't exactly thrilled about this girl's so-called medical professionalism, but it was probably better than what he could do. She used all her strength to drag him to her carriage. She was strong, no doubt, but still dragged him over in spurts. It was a long distance, after all. It didn't help that her dragging put pressure on his wounds.

"What's your name?"[Neidr] hearing this, she stopped dragging him and touched her nose. She looked proud as she said,
"Want to know your savior's name, I get it, I get it well..." [Arrieta]before she could continue Neidr cut her off,
"No, I just need to know who to haunt once you kill me." [Neidr] The girl stuck her tongue and said,
"The name's Arrieta, haunt away sourpuss."[Arrieta]
Once she dragged him next to the carriage, she threw on a pair of gloves and grabbed a brown leather sack and immediately went to work, sporting a serious expression. She quickly felt around his torso for wounds. Finding the punctures in the front, she reached around and felt his back. Finding punctures there too, her expression began to grow concerned.
"How didja get these wounds?"[Arrieta]
"Paksi bite."[Neidr] hearing this her expression softened,
"Good good, alrighty I'll start right away."[Arrieta] Neidr frowned and thought, 'what's good about it? Are you cursing me?' Arrieta ignored him, opened the sack and pulled out a pair of scissors. She cut away what was left of his shirt and asked,
"Any other wounds?"[Arrieta]
"Small ones, on my arms and knuckles."[Neidr]
"Okey dokey, that means we can skip the embarrassment."[Arrieta]
"The what?"[Neidr]
Well, it'd be awkward if you had wounds on your legs wouldn't it? I am a girl, after all."[Arrieta]
"Arrieta."[Neidr]
"What?" [Arrieta]
"I think it would be more awkward if someone died because you thought it was embarrassing to treat a leg wound."[Neidr] Arrieta scrunched her nose and said,
"I've got nothin against it, some dudes are nervous bout that kinda thing, that's all."[Arrieta]
Removing his shirt, Arrieta couldn't help but exclaim,
"Who the hell shoved Bliz grape mush into the wound?"[Arrieta] Feeling that this wasn't anything good, Neidr deflected,

"Friend of mine."[Neidr]
"Friend, my ass!" [Arrieta]she exclaimed, "More like enemy, Bliz Grape makes ya bleed faster, thins the blood!" [Arrieta]She took out a small water basin from the tipped over carriage and began to wash out his wounds. While Neidr was reevaluating his life decisions, Arrieta cleaned the wounds. Neidr cocked an eyebrow when she started to use soap, but he didn't say anything. She seemed to know what she was doing after all. Done with the front, she flipped him on his side and started cleaning the back.
"Okey dokey sourpuss, wounds all clean." [Arrieta]She admired her handiwork for a moment, and then pulled out a needle and thread. Arrieta stitched up his wounds one by one, while Neidr started to wonder whether she was a doctor or was treating him like an old shirt. After stitching the wounds, she busted out some thick cloth strips and began to bind his wounds. After ten minutes, Neidr became half man half mummy.
She took off her gloves and rubbed her hands together, she reached back into the sack and grabbed a trowel like tool whose blade was shaped into a half circle. The backside of the tool also had a large compartment jutting out the back. Arrieta placed the blade against Neidr's bandages and pulled a trigger. Immediately, and sharp chill radiated into his body, shocking him at first and then relieving his pain. Seeing Neidr jolt, Arrieta spoke up nervously,
"Ah, I mean, it might be a little cold."[Arrieta] Neidr looked at the girl begrudgingly and said,
" A little late."[Neidr] She let out a little laugh and said,
"Well, no more dreams of haunting people for you. Wait a bit and take them stitches out when they're ready."[Arrieta]
"Thanks,"[Neidr] Neidr said, " but how long is a bit?"[Neidr]
Arrieta pointed her nose into the air and said, "Well, you're very welcome, er a bit is until it looks good."[Arrieta]
"Ok, when does it, you know what, never mind."[Neidr] Neidr didn't know how it was supposed to 'look good,' but he had a feeling asking her wouldn't help very much. Ignoring this, Arrieta spoke,
"You know, you're pretty lucky. It isn't everyday someone survives a Paksi attack. Even then, you don't have any wounds to your major organs. You should thank the gods up above. You have it good."[Arrieta]
There was a small moment of silence, Neidr refused to comment on him having good luck, and Arrieta didn't seem to have anything else to say. Neither person moved, just looking at one another. Neidr broke the awkward silence first and asked,
"Aren't you going to catch that Rackler?"[Neidr] Arrieta immediately widened her eyes and exclaimed,
"Shit I forgot!" [Arrieta]Jumping up, she slammed her head into the wheel of the carriage.

For Grass and Glory
Being old is difficult. But losing the love of your life to natural selection and being left in the dirt is even harder. Join Walton in his final journey as he figures out if his principals are just as important when there is nothing left to lose. Combating hypocrisy, youth, bad diet practises and a general lack of respect towards humanity, Walton's struggles are the true adventure of the everyday man. A story about unlikely friendship, being old, unexpected beauty, and the obsession of kicking a round leather ball in the best way possible. A story about a new world, and its possibilities. A story about the grass, and let us hope, a small bit of glory? Author note: This is a project of mine I started in 2016 and recently been writing for again. Writing for me is something I love to do, but can't always find the time for. This is also the reason I have not finished (or come close to) Ethereal Space yet. I get distracted. I started this novel intending to create something else, to break a bit with the current go to's story wise in the litRPG or virtual reality communities. So, this is my attempt at "Something different" I would love feedback or just your general opinion. But most of all, I hope it entertains. Enjoy!

Shrike
He wants to play the latest and greatest VRMMORPG game, but he can't muster up the cash for the fancy new proprietary hardware and membership license. After months of saving up cash and arduous work, he has built a behemoth of a machine relying almost entirely on seedy old technology and a DIY guide by some dude named "Jimmy Bob." This is the story of his entry into the game. This is also a story of intrigue, exploration, introspection, batshit crazy game design, and unintended but entirely predictable consequences. This is G.C.O. Undergoing a total re-write, mostly because I think things were too rushed rather than any content or direction changes. If you are one of the few who tried Shrike when it was briefly updating, consider giving it another shot. Of no relation to either The Great Crusade or the recent (in 2017 lol) Shrike book for Warhammer by Games Workshop. All similarities in these cases are superficial; please don't sue me. Feedback welcome and encouraged, never be afraid to review or comment. HQ/Kindle-Grade cover art. Book Cover 2.0: "From the Dark"
