《A Side Villain’s Ballad.》011 Thoughtful Peace

When the capsule jolted to a stop, both Arrieta and Neidr had an urge to lose their lunch. Neidr looked more composed, though, as he was used to this kind of stimulus from his former life. Arrieta, however, was two seconds away from barfing. The capsule opened, showing a huge empty hallway. The dull colors of the wooden floor, ceiling, and walls supported by marble pillars left something to be desired. Dozens of suits of armor lined the hallway, seemingly ever on guard. Little wisps of multicolored light floated around illuminating whatever they could in this dreary space.
An old man stood opposite of them with an impatient look on his face. Neidr finally got the chance to get a better look at this grouchy old man. He had a white goatee and a full head of hair. His robes were light brown and lined with a darker brown. Seeing Neidr he clicked his tongue and said,
"Oh, you're alive."[Grumpy old man]He turned his gaze towards Arrieta and said,
"Somehow the peasant is too"[Grumpy Old man] He shook his head and muttered under his breath. Neidr ignored him, while Arrieta was looking indignant. She just didn't dare to say anything.
"Well, no use in crying now,"[Grumpy old man] he looked at the both of them and continued, "Usually, I would give new students a tour as this is a prestigious school. However, since you two dare to arrive late, I just don't have the time to take you, you know. I'm a very busy man, you know. Things to do, all the time, you know. Unlike you, who likes to dillydally, you know."[Grumpy old man] He reached into his sleeves grabbing two pamphlets handing one to Arrieta and Neidr each.
"Ok, there are no classes yet, I'll leave the registering to you as for your dorms..."[Grumpy old man] He scratched his head and snapped his fingers, Arrieta vanished,
"Oh, how lucky of her. She'll have a real chance to better herself there."[Grumpy old man] He looked at Neidr and gave a huge grin like he was pulling a good prank, snapped his fingers and Neidr vanished. Opening his eyes, Neidr found himself in a small room, 12 by 13 feet. Although this seemed roomy, it had two beds, two dressers, two desks and two closets. A handsome man, with almond eyes and straight black hair, was muttering in the corner. Sensing Neidr's arrival, he turned around and let out a small smile. He stood up and arched lightening across his fingers before he continued in a low voice,

"I needed a slave."[Cito Mors] Neidr not only didn't get angry, but he also smiled back. He was a noble, wasn't he? This kid probably thought he was a peasant and wanted to take advantage of him. Neidr knew to always take advantage of the system where you can.
"I'm Neidr Hyll, of the Hyll Barony, I can work with you, but nobles are hardly slaves."[Neidr] The handsome man's eyebrows shut up, and he said,
"A noble? Even better, "[Cito Mors] he smiled with sadistic glee and continued, "You damn nobles cause so much damn trouble for us poor peasants. I finally get to teach you a lesson, After all, Rotham is very ve--ry lax."[Cito Mors]
'For the love of Christ.' Neidr shook his head, and quickly bowed. He had no magic and wasn't the other's match at all. Even if he were, his injuries would have seen to his loss in any type of bout.
"May I know your name, Master?"[Neidr] The noble laughed boisterously and said,
"Cito Mors, and you would do well to remember it. Well, Hyll how does it feel to respect a lowly peasant? Huh, are you dripping with anger?"[Cito Mors]
'No, mostly exasperated.'
"Ok, mister noble man, give me your money." [Cito Mors]At this point, Neidr's face was filled with helplessness. He looked at Mors Cito and said,
"I don't have any." [Neidr]Mors immeiately slapped him across the face and screamed,
"Don't lie to me.!"[Cito Mors]
'Stupid fucker do I look like I have money on me?'
"I really don't have any, If I did, I would not be in a dorm." [Neidr]The man's face suddenly froze and he said,
"Yes, that is how you stupid nobles operate."[Cito Mors]
"Is there anything you need, Sir?"[Neidr] Mors slapped money and a piece of paper into Neidr's hand and said,
"Go buy me these things. If you don't..."[Cito Mors] He jammed his hand into Neidr's ribs and shocked him until Neidr was foaming at the mouth.
"You get the idea."[Cito Mors] Mors went back into the corner and started to practice spells diligently. Neidr left, asking around for directions to the market. Apparently, there was a portal that went straight to Rotham city. It operated free of charge, so although, Neidr was pissed that he didn't get to use it when coming here he still used it gladly.

Appearing in an all too familiar field, Neidr scratched his head he didn't see another portal so...
"How do I go back?"[Neidr] upon saying this he vanished and appeared in front of the portal in the Academy.
"Oh, that works."[Neidr]He walked through the portal again. Neidr scoured the town for the things on this list, and came out with some money left. Neidr smiled wildly and said,
"Well, this is probably a test, but that works to my advantage." [Neidr]Neidr scoured the city for rubber. Unfortunately... the only place where he could find what he was looking for was a sex shop. The attendants there gave him knowing smiles.
'My reputation, ah, shit.' Neidr then went to a shop and bought a bottle of booze. Neidr hid the rubber suit in his pants. His chest still exposed, only covered with bandages, was hardly a place to hide something. The day had passed by the time he returned to the dorm. Mors was still diligently practicing his magic and Neidr stumbled into the room drinking heavily. He slammed the things on the ground and said,
"Found and collected, master."[Neidr] Mors screeched, "You fuckin bastard! Did you use MY money to buy alcohol? I'll kill you! If there isn't exactly six coins there, I'll make you wish you weren't born!"[Cito Mors] Mors slammed a punch into Neidr's ribs, knocking the air out of his lungs. He grabbed both sides of his face and electrocuted him. Once Neidr hit the floor, he threw of flurry of kicks. Finally satisfied, he put the newly bought things under his bed. He sneered at Neidr and said,
"At least you're not wholly hopeless, you bought the right things. Sleep on the floor tonight. Maybe that will teach you to covet your master's money for alcohol."[Cito Mors] Eventually, Mors laid in his bed to rest, with Neidr cowering on the floor. Neidr waited an hour, then two hours, then three. Not moving, pretending to sleep. When he heard the snoring of Mors he smiled. He stealthily put on the rubber sex suit.
'I'm definitely going to burn this' Sneaking up to Mors's bed, he heard him talk in his sleep.
"Mother, Father, don't go... I'll kill you I'll kill you I'll kill you. Every noble, every damn noble ." Neidr did not pause for long, there was something Cito was right about, Rotham academy was very lax. Neidr wrapped his arm around Cito's throat and breathed into his chest. A sleeper hold. Cito struggled to breath. He woke up in panic. Scratching and clawing at his assailant, shooting lightening everywhere. Tears and snot covered his face, but he couldn't scream, he couldn't call out for help. The magic he was so proud of. The magic he struggled for all his life. The magic he was supposed to use to avenge his parents did nothing. Neidr smiled delicately and couldn't help himself, he began to sing in a whisper,
"Shhh, go to sleep
don't make a peep,
all is well
you did your best
so go to rest
I'll see you down in hell." [Neidr]
Cito Mors stopped struggling. Once Neidr knew he was dead, he released him and whispered one final,
"Goodnight."[Neidr]

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?
