《A Side Villain’s Ballad.》063 Fighting

Neidr travelled deeply into the swamp, though rather than escaping his enemies, he seemed to have come across one of their villages. Small wooden shacks were built on stilts, standing in the murky water of the swamp. People travelled from home to home on small boats and they wore wooden masks hiding their faces. Neidr could see at lease forty or fifty people down there. He relaxed and watched them as he bandaged his wounds and scoured the trees for anything with medicinal properties. Resting there for a day, we watched their movements like a hawk. Despite this, he started to hear things from behind. The sounds of footsteps. Whether they be animal or man he didn't know. Regardless, he began to chant while keeping an eye on the village. As he disappeared, shouts were heard. He appeared on a faraway branch as he watched multiple masked men come out of the bush and confusedly circle the tree. Neidr sighed, he began to chant and started to shoot ice shard at them. One went through a man's throat, while another pierced through a thigh. Upon the first hit, the men began to scatter, hiding in the underbrush.
Neidr chanted and appeared atop the straw roof of a building in the village. Why chase these men into the swamp? Force them to come home instead. Neidr began to fire ice shards at the residents. Sure enough, the men that scattered in the thick greenery rushed out to meet him, but between him and them was water. This bogged down their approach and allowed Neidr to kill them off one by one. The killing field did not last long though, Neidr's waist was constricted by a vine rising up from the water, then he was flung at the approaching enemies. The men positioned themselves where neidr would fall and raised their spears. Threatening to make him into a pincushion once he lands. He had no time to teleport, so he chanted and curled his body behind his shield. The shield blocked the points, and he crashed into them like a pin would hit bowling balls. In close range, he drew his knife and slashed at a man's throat. Out of the five men, two of them dropped their spears and grabbed onto Neidr's arms. The other two made their distance and prepared to thrust. Neidr decided to use an old trick. He violently shoved his body weight to the left, the man on the left pushed him back into place while the man on the right pulled. Just as the spears were about to hit, Neidr reversed his movement. The man on the left-hand side was impaled with two spears and Neidr immediately drove his knife into the man on the right's throat.

His knife got stuck in the spinal column, so he let go. Fortunately, the spearmen had also stuck their spear points into their body. Neidr drew another knife and slammed it into the closest man's eyeball. The last man, upon seeing this, dropped his spear and grabbed towards Neidr's knife, trying to immobilize him. The man successfully grabbed the knife arm using both hands. He spun his back to Neidr, trying to judo throw Neidr into the swamp. Little did he know, as he turned his back, Neidr drew another knife with his free hand and forced it through the man's ear canal, killing him. The dead man did not lose momentum, and Neidr's body slammed into the swamp.
Neidr moved to get up, but a vine wrapped around his neck, pulling him deeper into the water. Unable to chant without speaking, Neidr desperately sawed at the vine with his knife. Just as he was about to lose consciousness, he cut through the vine and burst out of the water. He immediately started to dash away from the settlement while chanting. He turned into mist and appeared in the center of the village. As far from vines as possible. From what he could spell, the spell did not create a new vine, just controlling ones already there. Therefore, he went to the tallest and most open area he could find, hoping that he would be able to see any attack coming. Not seeing the attack arrive, he shot an ice shard at a scared inhabitant. He cut through their foot, pinning them to the ground. They screamed out in anguish, and Neidr yelled,
"Meet me or more die!"[Neidr] Suddenly, some men tried to rush out of the village to escape, Neidr fired ice shards at the farthest ones first and finished with the ones closest to him. Then he shouted,

"Anyone that tries to leave will die! Mage! Appear in front of me, so we can negotiate!"[Neidr] A young voice sounded out,
"Do you promise not to harm anyone else if I appear?"[villager] Neidr nodded saying,
"Yes, you must prove it is you though, I shall not negotiate with any non-magic user."[Neidr] Neidr wanted to present himself as arrogant as an excuse to see the mage. If he asked specifically to see the mage without reason, that could be suspicious. Sure enough, a small child climbed up upon a nearby thatched roof, their eyes covered in tears. Neidr immediately shot an ice shard through their chest. An angered voice cried out,
"You said you wanted to negotiate!"[Villager] Neidr retorted,
"You said you'd send the mage!"[Neidr] He didn't actually know whether they sent the mage or not, he was going to kill them either way. However, if they were testing his intentions, he would say he killed out of anger because they didn't follow their word. This is another reason the arrogant personality was important. If they continued to play, he would continue the cycle.

AND there's plenty of comedy and comedic moments in it but i could only add so many genres. NOTE: I have every intention to finish writing this novel in a proper way. Where the story is going, is clear to me. The image is a concept art of a creature from an online rpg game long forgotten. Text added by me using paint 3d.
