Shen went back to his mansion on time for lunch. Atem and Adeline were already eating. Adeline herself seemed depp into her thoughts.
Shen: So? How did she do?
Atem: She grasped the creation theory. I gave her an assignment for the afternoon. She will be making five different variations of the Light Orb.
Shen: I see. Starting from the basics with the principles of variation. I thought you would have gone straight towards the study of her divine element?
Atem: No, even I can't just cross that many steps. She has to learn the basics to understand what coems after and to properly show me.
Shen: Alright. Tell me if you find anything.
Atem: Did you find something?
Shen showed him the books.
Atem: And that is?
Shen: The only history book that relates the truth of our time. The official history is bullshit and biased. You're a demon emperor by the way.
Atem: A fitting title in a way, don't you think?
Shen: Well...Not far off but they pinned onto us all the blame for everything that wasn't going well. They also slaughtered our descendants. All of them.
Atem: ...It explains why we haven't seen any of those races.
Shen: Yeah. Also, they have banned our professions.
Atem: Oh? So we ended up being regarded the same as those nasty necromancers?
Shen: Yeah...No. These days, necromancer is reputable profession. It seems they work alongside churches. Saying last goodbyes, solving crimes and such. Isn't that right, Adeline?
Adeline: Uh? Ah? What is it? Oh, hello Shen!
Shen: ...Adeline, necromancers. Are they working at the churches?
Adeline: Necromancers? Of course they are. They help the people with everything related to their dead families and friends. They research cures for sicknesses too. They are very helpful!
Shen: See? Nothing like those back then who raised armies of smelly corpses.

Atem: Does that mean that our professions are considered worse than Necromancers?!
Shen: No. Worse. They were banned as heresy. Let's try to keep it secret for the time being, no need to makes things complicated.
Adeline: What are you talking about, guys? Wait, no that i think about it, i don't recall hearing about your professions?
Shen and Atem looked at each other and shrugged.
Shen: Wouldn't matter much if we told her, only make her an accomplice, right?
Atem: Yes, it is fine. She's in the same boat since she is aware of 'creation' and 'variation' now anyways.
Adeline: ...What do you mean? I am getting scared.
Atem: Miss Adeline, what i taught you about Magic is...How to phrase it...Dangerous. Many powerful people wish to keep such knowledge to themselves. It would be best if you were to not share those with anyone.
Adeline: ...Eh?...Eh?! Am I in danger?!
Shen: Not while you shut up about what you learn from us. So, anyways, you wanted to know our professions, right?
Adeline: I don't think I want to anymore.
Shen: Wouldn't change much to your position now.
Adeline: ...Please, tell me.
Shen: Atem is a Mind Magus and I am a puppeteer.
At that moment, Adeline froze from shock. Then she screamed. Then she froze and screamed some more. She ended up joining a team with three people. Out of the three, two were following heresy professions. If it were known, she was dead. She would be brought to the scaffold and beheaded as an acompplice of heretics!
Adeline: Why didn't you tell me before I joined you?!
Shen looked at her while holding his laughter.
Shen: Why do you think?
At this moment, she felt lost. What did she ended up doing?! How could she have been so naive?!

Atem: Miss Adeline, do you regret meeting us?
She looked at Atem who was staring straight into her eyes. Was he trying to use mind magic on her? No. She couldn't detect the slightest fluctuation of magic. Why was he looking at her so seriously? Is he expecting an answer? That's...Too much for her. She was not in a state where she could. This was seriously too much. It was beyond her scope of understanding.
Since she joined this group, it had been surprises after surprises... But to think those people had been the worst of the worst of criminals: "HERETICS".
Adeline: I-I'm sorry...I-
Atem: That is fine, Miss Adeline. You should go work on your magic and organize your thoughts first, we do not need an answer right away.
Shen: Just remember one thing though. It is the power itself that is evil but how it is wielded. Even with only what you learnt this morning, you can become a powerful and important person tomorrow. At that time, if we aren't there, remember those words.
Adeline: I-...I will be in my room.
She left the room.
Atem: If she is reacting this way, i can't even imagine how bad it is.
Shen: Yeah...Those fuckers really tried their best to make it hard for us.
Atem: By the way, why did you not tell her about Tempest's?
Shen: Well...His profession has it worst.
Atem: How so?
Shen: There can only ever be one 'Apostle of the Glaciation' so they consider that if someone ever got this, he would be considered like the resurrected demon emperor and dealt accordingly.
Atem: ... You made the right choice.
Shen: Yes, well, testing the waters this way was a must. I plan to say that I am a ".".".".".", what about you?
Atem: I guess I could go with ".".".".".".", what do you think?
Shen: Sounds good.
Atem: Should we warn Tempest?
Shen: Whoever sees him first gets to do that. I plan to return to the Library first. I am curious to see if there are any works on Magic and what changed in the veryday lives of people.
Atem: The developpment of this world...I don't see much changes.
Shen: We are considered 'commoners' now compared to before. Do you understand?
Atem: Oh, I see. Instead of reasearching further, they strove to share the ressources?
Shen: I think so. I plan to make sure this afternoon.
Atem: Then, I guess I will keep an eye on the girl.
Shen: Ok. And take out the trash. It heard us.
Atem: Of course, Master.

When Plush comes to Shove
An: So the last synopsis wasn’t really all that good, it was just some mumbo jumbo with no actual point to it so I decided to make a new one that’s a bit more accurate. Leo Lush, just your average everyday (slightly chubby) schmuck, or at least he would be if he didn’t carry around a stuffed toy everywhere he went.I mean, he was a man who could read the atmosphere a bit so put it away in his bag whenever having a stuffed toy out would be rude but other than that he brought it with him all the time, it was a memento from his girlfriend who had died three years ago and keeping it close made him feel better. That’s also why his classmates gave him the nickname “Plush”, though that's neither here nor there. One day at the train station he’d lost his dearest stuffed toy, one of his classmates found it and lobbed it towards him, something that they’d already done many times before, but this time something went wrong and Leo found himself falling in front of the train due to the force of the throw. Now follow Leo as the spirit that developed in his stuffed toy and killed him forces his ghost into another world to possess a different stuffed toy. He doesn’t know much about the world or why he’s there but what he does know is that according to a magic book his girlfriend was also sent to this very world when she died in a plane accident three years ago. An: For those who want to know a bit more about what kind of story this will be: I want it to be a chill feel-good story and stay as far away from those despair-fest stories as possible (No offense to people who enjoy them, I’m just not one of you)Let me make something clear; I’m not writing this story with hope of it becoming really top tier among RRL (Though it did get above rank 500 once which I’m still very proud of even though it’s gone back down to ~850 at the time of writing this) I just want to write a story that I would enjoy reading, that’s why I’ll be mostly skipping over a lot of the parts that I skip when I read other stories, such as stats, the exact value of money and other such precise statistics that no one(as far as I’m aware) really cares about all that much. Just feels like a lot of effort for something superfluous. There’s a single exception and that’s one of the battles, it’s not a despair-fest or anything but it’s got a different feel than the rest of the story due to me being in a funky mood while I was writing it.
