《NO STRINGS ATTACHED》CH. 46

In a different world so far away that distance was not even worth mentionning, a human-like man was sitting on a pile of bodies. He had the appearance of a dashing young man with flowing long dark hair and the perfect chiseled face to go with it. He was wearing a long white robe and playing with a blue paper with strange yellow runes on it in his hands. He was doing so while sitting on that pile of bodies.
The pile of bodies was not the only one as all around him were more and more piles. Enough that it was the only thing one could see from he were was. In the distant horizon, he could hear the sounds of screamings as the wind was bringing the smell of death.
This was a random planet h went to explore in search of more seeds. Unfortunately, it seemed like it had already been plundered not that long ago. Not long enough for it to regenerate enough to be harvested once more. And so, to make sure this was not a complete failure of a trip, he decided to play a game with the natives.
Using his powers, he called upon the vengeful spirits of those who died unfairly in these lands. He gave a chance to the natives. "Survive for a year" was what he told them. It had been five years ago. And now, he was still roaming around this world with his army of specters slaughtering whatever lives were left. That was his way of entertaining himself.
But now...As he looked at the talisman in his hand, a savage grin could not help but appear.
???: I wonder who freed you from my seal~ Was it Lera?~ Or someone else completely random~ I can't wait to play our next game together~

As he finished, he jumped down from the pile and let go of the talisman. It turned to dust as it left the vicinity of the man. As he walked through the desolate lands, the screams began to stop. It was time to leave for a different game. He had played enough here. The specters were slowly dissipating along with his departure.
Considering the distance, he could not be sure of how long a time it was that the seal broke. However, he knew that it was broken. And since it was, it meant that one of the greatest players he knew was finally out. A new game, a new party, would soon begin.
???: Should I warn the others~? No~ Let's make it a hunting game~ Ahahahahah!
A creepy laugh resounded throughout the world as the man disappeared through a door. The very few natives left were crying tears of happiness for the demon that slaughtered their world was finally gone...
...
Atem: Are you sure about going alone?
Shen: Yes. It's fine. I will come back with the answers.
Atem: Alright, good luck.
...
Shen was led inside the castle by a dozen knights. The palace itself was decorated with very few items. It brought out a higher grandeur to the edifice. Instead of making it overly lavish, it made it seem noble. It was a beautiful architectural creation and Shen couldn't help but notice and appreciate it for what it was truly worth.
After walking through many halls, he was led into a room in which a simple table and chairs waited for him. He was told to wait here for the King to come. He sat down on a chair. One from which he could survey the door. There wasn't much in the room except the furniture. Strong wood and ornated. But not overly ostentatious.

Soon enough, the doors opened once more and a dozen men entered. The King was easy to recognize as only one had a crown on his head. It was very intriguing that in most civilisations the ruler was distinguished by something upon his head. Maybe it was an unconscious instinct to differientate oneself?
Regardless he was meeting the King as he hoped for. Without bloodshed. As for the other nine...Random nobles riffraffs not worth caring about. There was some polite introductions done before the King spoke:
King ???: I heard that you proposed to my youngest daughter, Sir Shen. I wanted to discuss about your bethrothal gift with you.
Shen: My gift?
King ???: Yes. I wonder what you have planned to gift us in exchange for our daughter's hand.
Shen: ...I am tired. King whateveryournameis, do you know where the door that's a window is?
There was a lot of rucus due to the innapropriate speech of Shen. However, he did not care. What he cared about though was the reaction of those who did not rage but instead frowned or such. Those who knew. And there was one indeed. The oldest man in the room and one of the counsellors to the King. As the King was getting irritated himself, proof of his arrogance, the old man observed Shen. Shen was returning the gaze.
As the other Nobles were still criticizing his conduct and even the King began to be displeased, the voices grew louder. This mannaged to irritate Shen a lot.
Shen: Enough. Sleep.
With a wave of his hand, everyone but the old counsellor in not just the room but the entire castle fell asleep. In pure shock, the frightened counsellor was trying to shout for the guards only to find a hand reached towards him and no sound coming from his throat.
Shen: Silence. A basic spell that has been useful since times immemorial. Supposedly invented by a tired husband...That aside, you know about the door. And I want to know too. So, we can do this the hard way or we can do this gently. What will it be, counsellor?
As the counsellor could feel the Magic disappear and his ability to speak come back, he only had one thing to say:
Counsellor ???: What do you want to know?
The old counsellor managed to live long because he knew that bowing down to the strong was the way of the weak and he felt no shame to do so. Not before and certainly not now when faced with such a powerful demon.
