《Tourism Record of the Origin Dragon》Record 029: Misunderstandings

How did it work? I was just teasing him and now he gets a name he likes and also the spear. The 'spear' keeps following him as he flies around, the brown blade pointing at him but the entire pole phases through him harmlessly when he abruptly stops. It's a weapon which can't hurt its user... or it simply can't touch Spirit. The red blade seems to be repelled by the wolf so the brown one is always pointing at him. It would look better if the pole can float vertically or paralleled to him...
As he flies around the yard, he notices the cheer of the town folks. Why are they cheering a monster? Now that Glutton notices you, I won't be able to help if he eats you all! I wouldn't complain about free Exp though.
Glutton grins as he looks at them. Because he is semi-transparent, I can see his feral grin from behind. Is he planning to eat the town folks for real? Well, I don't really have problem with that, but if those fanatics enjoy it, I'm going to puke!
He flies toward the town folks. They become noisy as they fall back. The knights barricading there doesn't know what to do. They looks at the high priest but the priest is also baffled. Well, he still hasn't recover from realizing my wolf just 'ascended'.
When he reaches a few meter away from the knights, Glutton abruptly flies upward, attracting the brown blade of the twin-bladed pole. Because of momentum (Did I create Momentum? Probably some deities did...), the pole continues to fly forward while rotating. It almost scratches the knights armor but I doubt a Lv1 could do any damage to them.
As the pole flies upward, the wolf performs a somersault, landing on the ground behind the pole. It keeps rotating faster and faster as it chases him, making an arc then phases through him before striking the ground. A good performance, but too bad there is no explosion nor earthquake as the blade strikes the ground.
"Have you done playing around?" I shout at him. He turns his head to look at me with an annoyed face. "Get back here before I have to chance the Obedience setting!"
The wolf frowns then flies toward me while growling. The pole shakes a few time before leaving the ground and following him. He isn't thinking of attacking me, is he?
["You promised to not order me around."]
"..." I hate it when he wins me in arguing.
["I'm tired."] He says then lays down beside my cage, closing his eyes. The pole stands beside him, the brown blade obviously in the ground. ["Call me when you start moving."]

"You didn't eat them?" I feel a bit regret. There go some delicious exp plus silencing the witnesses of my embarrassing moment.
["I don't have the appetite."]
"I don't think a Spirit can eat physical beings." The priest says as he looks at the sleeping spirit. He seems to regain his composure, standing beside the cage. "They live on Mana itself." Saying so, he turns to look directly at me.
"So I have to let that Glutton sucks my Mana dry?"
"How much MP do you have?"
"You got a point." The third argument I lost today.
In an alley near the yard, Rector and Neon are standing together.
Neon escaped into the crowd by jumping down the building. Although he took some damage, he didn't have much problem leaving the scene because the knights paid full attention to the Genesis Dragon. While he ran away, the two group noticed each other.
"I'm back." Argon returns to the group from the direction of the yard.
"So?" Rector impatiently asks.
"You won't believe it! The Genesis Dragon revived that wolf!" Argon says in excitement. Resurrection Magic is just a myth in this world.
"Brother liess again!" Neon immediately dismisses it. Rector doesn't know what to say and keeps staring at Argon. "I ssaw the sstatuss dissappear!"
When they regroup earlier, Neon briefed them on what happened in his incompetent tone. They immediately understood that the Wolf's death caused the strange ripple. When the flash of white light happened, Argon, who is confident of his Speed, volunteered to mingle into the crowd again to see what was happening.
"The human..." As Argon says, Rector frowns. The lizard realizes his unappropriated use of word. "The town people said that the warrior, who killed the wolf, disappeared in a flash of light."
"Teleportation?" Rector interrupts.
"I'm not sure, but the Genesis Dragon said something before he glowed and disappeared..."
"He killed a Holy Knight with a spell?!" Rector exclaims in surprise. To him, this is the most logical conclusion. The Origin Dragon seems to favor his wolf servant pretty much, so this is obviously an act of revenge. There is one thing he doesn't understand though: Last time the Origin Dragon was merely Lv5. Only a few days passed, how could he kill a Lv60?
"I'm not sure about that either. Anyway, when I came there, I saw him with his eyes closed. Suddenly he opened his eyes and blurted out a word. In the next moment, a brown Wolf Spirit appeared! It looks exactly like the died wolf whose corpse is still there, however its Level is 1."

"It's Ascension!" Rector exclaims again. His face shows a bigger shock than before.
"Ass..asscen...ssion?" Neon hardly re-pronounces that word.
Human's average level is around 20 to 30. To archive Ascension, one must reach the Max Level of 99. Ascension is also dubbed Rebirth because it construct a younger new body of Lv1 while leaving behind a corpse of the old body. It perfectly fits what happened to the Wolf so he quickly concluded that the Wolf just went through Ascension.
"Wait, are you sure that its corpse is still there?" Ignoring Neon, Rector voices his doubt. He heard that one can't bring the corpse out of the Ascension Hall so he has always thought that the corpse would disappear.
"No, I saw it disappear in a vortex and leave behind a two-bladed weapon."
"So that's what happen to the corpse after Ascension..." Rector mumbles. He never could have imagined that Ascension would leave behind something like that. Were all Legendary figures in the past get their Artifact like that?
"Wait, are you saying that the Genesis Dragon can Ascend other?"
"Ass..send?" Neon tries to pronounce it, again.
"Well, you come to a God's temple to Ascend. He created all the Gods so it's nature that he could do that." Rector says while nodding. Pausing a moment to think, he continues. "Does that mean.. the highest reward in serving him would be becoming his Artifact?" He says then imagines himself.. as a knuckle on Origo's claws...
Argon returned before seeing Glutton using the Pole so naturally he imagines something similar. However he shakes his head.
"No, I'd rather be his Exp!"
"Ar..Arti..fact?" Neon still has hard time pronouncing what the other two said.
I feel a sudden chill. It comes from the direction of the crowd. Did those town folks imagine something fanatical?
"Gluttonous Dragon's Toothpick..." The priest's voice comes from the Wolf's side. Hearing the weapon's name makes my face feel warm.. Am I blushing? This name is surely embarrassing. I have to get rid of the witness!
"When did you get there?" I turn to look at the priest. He is looking up and down the pole next to the wolf. The sleepy head doesn't seem to mind.
"Such Artifact... I can feel two clashing powers suppressed by the Holiness in the middle... You created the Gods, so does this.. Artifact count as one?"
"I hope not." I don't like those lofty deities. "Now can you tell the knight to let the town folks enter?" I say in a raised voice, aiming at the crowd of fanatics. Did I just lick my fang?
The crowd, hearing what I said, becomes more energetic at pushing the knights, though they can't even budge the Lv60 barricade. It's probably midnight and they still has a lot of energy, huh?
The priest looks at me in concern, then looks at the crowd. He lets out a long sigh before casting a barrier on the cage, blocking the spaces between the metallic bars with a veil of white light. Then looking at the confused knights, he gives a nod. He is pretty easy to me now, huh? I might consider letting him serve me... or not!
The knights have the town folks from the entrances forming three orderly lines. Some people tried to break the line but the knight easily pushed them back, so none tries that again.
My two hearts are beating faster and faster. Am I nervous? This is the first time I voluntary allow fanatics to come near me. The closer they come, the clearer their prayers be. Most of the prayers are for the Gods, but some of them still pray to me... What should I say? What should I do to stop them from leaking out Toothpick's name?
As I dwell in thought and before I know it, the crowd has flooded the yard, though the knights prevent them from coming too close to the cage and the wolf. A lot of people is coming out to the street and moving toward the yard (I'm tall, so I can see pretty far). I don't even know who heard Toothpick's name and who isn't anymore. I can't 'silence' them all!
As I was panic and not knowing how to deal with these people, a loud roar breaks my messed train of thoughts and also silences all the town folks. It was my servant's. Although he is Lv1, it seems stats have nothing to do with Roar.
Now that everyone calmed down, I glance at them. I can notice some aren't even human. I take a deep breath, their scent seems to be blocked by the barrier. Calming myself down, I glare at the crowd and say:
"I'm going to eat you all!" The feeling of nausea swells up inside me after I say so. I couldn't even growl nor grin as I planned. Why did I say that? Ah, I blame the Recording; I think I used to call it Personality Leak...
However, that feeling is soon replaced by a much worse feeling by the quietness of the town folks. They keep looking at me, their eyes open wide in surprise and disbelief.
"I think you misunderstood something..." The high priest softly says.
SO EMBARRASSING!

Outlook: The Stars (Consciousness Unbound Book 1)
The year is 2152. Rune Yahui is a nineteen-year-old failure, not having gained entrance to college or the military, with no significant prospects in life. Even worse, Rune is the poorest of the poor, hailing from the mega-slums of New Southern Chicago, the lowest pit of America. In a desperate last-ditch attempt to gain a future more lustrous than toiling the rest of his days away in abhorrent conditions in one of the near sweat-shop level factories that dot the megapolis, Rune signs up for the Virtual Citizen program, a program to cull the excessive world population by transferring just their brains into a video game. In a stroke of rare luck, Rune is admitted into the program and happily submits himself to the surgery and digitization process. Unfortunately for him, he wakes up several hundred years later than he expected... or does he? **Author's Note** This isn't a type of story typical to RRL. You may have noticed LitRPG in the tags, but it's a relatively minor element in the story until later. You may also notice Slice of Life is in the tags. This story is going to be slow and there won't be any power tripping until way later if at all. The focus will be on character development. That doesn't mean I won't still have action/excitement, however. I encourage you to give the story a try. Maybe it will be your thing, maybe it won't. Thanks for even taking the time to read this, and if you do give my fiction a try, I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, well, I hope you find something that you do enjoy. Happy reading!
