《Grasping for the Heavens》Chapter Eight

Hmm… After running at the people… It seems like it’s a bad idea… But I’ve already charged forwards… It would be awkward to suddenly stop and backtrack… Going with a quick uppercut, I punch the first guy to jump at me into the building in front of me. Turning around and sweeping my legs out I catch two guys just as they attempt to jump me. They both fall flat on the ground and I smash their necks and absorb them. I can always convert them later.
These upgrades… Even though there is an improvement, the change isn’t very large… Should I test out my battery? No… No point in showing all my cards at the very beginning. Right? Right. Yes… That’s right...
Swinging towards the remaining men, I point my finger at them and the I slide my finger across my neck. That should be a good indication of what I mean. And if they don’t run away, I can just beat the crap out of them.
Hey! Hey wait! Slow down! Hey! I’m not ready yet! Waving my hands at them, none of them give me time to defend myself. Is this what I think this is? This isn’t fair at all! I can’t even get a punch in! How am I supposed to do anything?
“Hey… This guy isn’t dead yet… What the heck?” Says a guy.
“Hey! I think… Is that metal under his skin?! He’s not human!!” Says another.
This shocks all of them into stopping their smacking around. Damn… I probably look like the terminat*r with all the skin peeling off or something. It’s probably not a pretty sight… I can see why they’ve stopped smacking me. NOW! NOW IT IS MY REVENGE!
Lashing out I tear one person's face right off their head and then I immediately pounce on the guy right next to him. Without stopping a puncture his heart with my toe blade and leap onto the next person and do a quick roundhouse kick to the head sending it flying. By now, the rest of the men… Are still as brave as before. Even though they realize I’m not human, they still continue to fight me. Is there a reason for this? I’m not sure… Oh well. I still have to deal with them.
Did I mention that the girl I’m in charge of has black hair? I’m not sure if I mentioned that. Whatever. Back to the fight.
This time, we have another staring contest. And the people on the other side seem to have come to a consensus. And that consensus is run. No? It’s run towards ME?! Wait wait! Didn’t you just see your comrades get murdered? Are they thinking of something along the lines of, ‘if we hit it enough times, it’ll break’ or something? Cause I’m pretty sure that won’t work...

But this time I’m prepared. Raising my hands up and getting ready, I enter a boxing pose, or something similar to it. And I lunge forwards punching my arm out. But I miss, but that isn’t a problem! Forcing my wrist blades out, I manage to catch the guy in the artery. See? I knew putting blades from my wrists to my elbow was a good idea.
But even seeing a blade pop out of my arm didn’t faze any of the other people and they continue to charge at me. Why? Shouldn’t this scare them? I don’t understand… Oh well, MOAR MATERIALS! Yeah…
Blurring through the group of attackers with punches and kicks and a flash of metal every now and then. The group is decimated, leaving only 10 or so left. But… My skin is still getting shredded to bits and my clothes are tatters right now… I really do look like an evil robot… Should I just get actual armor so that I won’t have to regenerate my skin? And more importantly. If I have armor, I won’t have to use money to buy clothing.
Actually. How did they fit so many people into this alley? Oh wait. Where are the buildings? Where’s my charge? Where’s the city? Now that I think about it… Don’t those 4 guys over there look awfully similar to someone I’ve seen somewhere? But... Who?
Oh! I know who they are. Those guys are the people who gave me my contract. But if the city is gone, do I still get my money? I do need money after all… Should I extort money from them? I don’t know… I would like to know what happened to this city. If memory serves correctly, this city was supposed to be surrounded by walls. Where did they go? It couldn’t have been from! All I did was fling people all over the place… But after I started throwing people… More and more people started to join in on the fight… Did I really look that hideous?
“I told you we should have terminated that thing!” Shouts an enraged fourth dude of the council. “I knew he would destroy our beautiful city!”
Wait! I wasn’t the one who destroyed it! All I did was throw people! It was the people’s fault for getting thrown in the direction of the walls and buildings! Actually, wouldn’t that be my fault? NO! It’s the people’s fault. Yup. Definitely… Should I just make sure that no one hears of this? Actually, if I could take on so many humans, I wonder just who took out the frontline base way down south? I really don’t want to meet the monster who did all that damage… Actually, I recall getting smacked by a missile. Why don’t these guys have missiles? I don’t understand why the people here don’t have missiles… Is it only for a certain empire or kingdom? So confusing… But now I don’t have a place to stay… That means I have to keep going on that path huh...

But before that, let’s get all the materials… And should I silence the remaining 10 people? Probably. Don’t want them spreading word of a creepy blue haired black eyed freak after all.
“By my will, cease the flow of blood in the 10 people in my sight!” I chant.
There. Problem solved and no blood on my hands. Actually, I never got any blood on myself except for the first few kills. Then the fight just devolved to throwing people… Let’s just get the materials...
I… Have a dilemma right now. I had everything I owned converted into pure mana. The problem is, should I use it all up to make some type of bio armor? Or should I use the pure mana to make actual pieces of armor. Hmmm…. If I go with bio army, I could have something like arms attached to it, with scythes on it… And when I don’t need it, I can switch it out with actual clothing… In this way… The armor could substitute for another weapons… Then I would have to make neural links with the armor… And I wonder if my battery could handle it? I’ll just have to improve them and hope for the best with what’s remaining…
In the end. My bio armor ended looking like platemail with two ominous looking scythes looking over my shoulder. The scythes can rotate and bend any way I want them to. After that, I modified my leg part so that it was more like that of a kangaroo's. Why? Because they jump better. And my fighting style is more like ‘I’m gonna charge in your face and smack you!’ So it obviously works. At the end of my ankles I’ve placed blades there that reach all the way to my knees. And they don’t get in the way when I bend my knee because I put them to the sides of my foot! HAHA! But I’ve kept my hand claws and wrist blades along with my toe blades. Because, obviously, they’re incorporated into my fighting style. And don’t even say the claws don’t help. They help me grip things before I throw them. Helpful, right? Right. I colored the scythes red, because red looks cool! And who wants scythes that are pink anyway? I colored the blades on my ankles red as usual. And I made the platemail a weird black pulsing color. Because everyone knows that bio armor has got to look black with creepy movements. Right? Right. I feel like I deserve a guidebook to how to improve myself. Actually, I think that’s what 666 did when I discovered myself in this world… Maybe I should’ve paid attention then…
But damn. This path is really boring… I’ve been walking for the past 30 minutes and a bandit hasn’t tried to murder me. No cute girl has been screaming for help. That… Makes me really sad… Oh yeah. I left my head out in the open because I moved my brain or whatever the robot term is to the certain of my body. This way, people will aim at my head hoping to kill me, but failing. Imagine the surprise.
But I really wanted my job as a guard though… I guess that next time I enter a city, I shouldn’t apply for the job of a guard, but as an adventurer?
Hey look! A wrecked carriage! And… There seems to be a weak heat signature buried in the wreckage… It looks like the carriage was attacked, and then something significant collapsed and the people were trapped inside...
Hey look. The sole survivor of this carriage is a baby.

The captain of the ship there comes into the room and tells the woman to get her hand looked after. He tells Drusilla that is his wife and he has to tell her often not to steal from people on the beach. They eventually go to bail Comotos out of jail, not before he meets Lance, another prisoner. He is there because he practically destroyed the very place he was meant to protect. A fellow soldier broke his glasses right after he was knighted and Lance lost his temper and ended up in jail.
