《The World of The Tower》Blood Bat 3

Ben exclaimed in surprise seeing the scene unfolding before them. Two meters above the ground the reason for their escapade was doing it's best to murder another bat. The fight was fierce and none of the sides seemed to be winning, as the time passed Arath's group slowly sneaked as close as possible, and looked for an opening or a moment of weakness. Unfortunetely for them, none presented iself, the fight kept on going and the bats were too high and too far away for anyone to do anything.
"If opportunity doesn't want to come to us, we need to create one." Patience was not a virtue Arath could boast about. "Anybody has any ideas?"
"I could attract their attention, while you sneak behind." Ben proposed, but his suggestion didn't really help.
"Yeah, because a bat will attack you head on if you shout at it, sure." Rym said sarcastically.
"I could freeze the waterfall for few minutes to make sure they they won't escape." Hearing this answer from Kanina, Arath thanked the Tower for at least one competent companion.
Having gotten thumbs up, she prepared her spell and waited for a signal, meanwhile Arath racked his brain trying to come up with the rest of the plan. The only thing that came to his mind was luring the creature inside of some chasm or a hole and block it's way out, but the question was - 'how?".
'How to taunt a Blood Bat?' He tried to remember any notes that the Heroes' notebook could have mentioned when a realisation stroke him like a lightining.
Blood Bats weren't named this way for no reason, just like Bloodworms, they went into frenzy whenever they caught even the slightest glimpse of odor of blood. The more blood they have devoured the stronger they became, it was a simple rule that applied to most monsters with a 'blood' before their name. This could be used as a tactic against the bats but it was a double-edged blade. Not only would the bat berserk and become stronger, the Bloodworms could come back too, no one knew how close they were.

'This is our only chance, we have to take the risk. We would have spilled some blood during the fight anyway, so if the worms are nearby, they will come no matter what we do.' Arath made his decision and announced it to the rest.
"I will do it, just tell me what to do." Ben volunteered to be the donor.
"Timing and precision is the key, walk up to that hole over there." Arath pointed at a space between two layers of stone. "The moment I give you the sign, quickly cut your hand with a dagger and throw it in there. Remember to cover the wound immediately if you don't wish to be eaten alive, these bastards turn into ferocious beasts once they smell blood."
Ben slowly crawled all the way, trying not to bring any attention to himself, and prepared for action. The rest of the team got to their respectable positions as well and waited for their leader's signal. Arath waited for the best opportunity and the moment the bats disengaged for a second, he threw his hand up, giving the sign to begin the operation.
Firstly, Kanina froze a huge chunk of the water curtain blocking the only way in and out of the stairs. Ben, who didn't even blink for the last half a minute worried to miss the sign, tried to cut his hand but to his surprise it was harder than it seemed to be. After few tries, he finally cut through his tough skin and a few droplets of blood poured onto the blade. In a blink of an eye, both eyes and red hair of the Blood Bats started to shine with an eery, scrimson light, they forgot about their fight and like hallucinated, blindly rushed in the direction of Ben.

Surprised by the speed of the events, he panicingly threw the dagger and bandaged the cut with some fabric he had earlier torn out from his clothes. He stopped the bleeding and covered the wound just a second before the first bat could tear him apart and thus, suceeded in his mission.
Rym and Arath, as soon as they saw the animals fly into the chasm, jumped forward and blocked the only way out, with not only their razor-sharp blades, but also Arath's shield. It was only then, when Arath noticed the inside of the hole. A two meters wide Giant Cave Spider was eating it's dinner peacefully, when suddenly it was intruded by uninvited guests.
"We need to act quickly. Get the red bat and get out of here." Arath shouted to Ben and Rym but it was already too late, the giant monster was slowly crawling out of it's nest.
Arath activated his ability and everything around him slowed down, giving him time to act. He thrusted forward in order to make shish kebab out of the bat, but to his surprise it was too quick. Having tasted Ben's blood, it gained abnormal speed and strength enabling it to contest with Arath's element. Attack after attack, he couldn't reach his target and watched how the beast got closer to him with each milisecond. Arath couldn't wait any longer and blocked the opponent with his shield buying himself few more seconds. Rym, trying to catch up to the speed of unfolding events attacked too, only to see his sword strike at an afterimage of his target.
"Help!" Arath could only yelp when the Blood Bat crashed at his last line of defence with the strength of an avalanche.
Having heard Arath's cry, Kanina turned towards his direction and saw the perilous situation, without waiting even a second her Scout's reflex awakened in her and she subconsciously mumbled some words.
Arath's mind went completely blank in panic and not a single thought entered his brain, it was one of the moments when he had no idea what to do, his only triumph card was easily defeated by the enemy, just as if it wasn't even there. He watched his shield break under the continous attacks of the beast and the moment it was supposed to fall apart, rocks around him started to shake and the chasm suddenly dissapeared under dozens of kilograms of rock.
He looked around completely dumbfound only to see the Blood Bats head sticking out of the rumble and Kanina breathing heavily behind him. He couldn't believe his eyes. Not only did he survive and left the fight unscathed, he also had a part of the monster's body just before him.

Re-Ordaining of the Chosen
Alea cheerfully hummed as she descended the steps, brimming in upbeat while her colleague, Quarren Leos, shot her a look of skepticism. “So… were you right about him?” he asked doubtfully. She came to a stop for a moment, her humming falling silent before she shook her head, waving her medium length light-blonde hair from side to side. “I was wrong about him.” Quarren raised an eyebrow in confusion at the convoluted response.“But you seem quite happy?” he asked again. “Because I am. But I was wrong about him. He was… so much more than I ever expected.” Alea looked at the sky overhead with a smile. “That boy… no, that man, is amazing. I firmly believe he will come to stand on top of any adversary he faces. He is destined. He is Chosen.” Quarren snorted as he stepped past, shaking his head. “Okay. Each to their own beliefs but you’re sounding like a nutjob. That skinny twig? Everyone calls him a cripple, you know,” he shook his head.“Rumours are always false, Leos,” Alea answered with a disapproving shake of her head. “You wouldn’t know. He is so, so much more.” “I saw him with my own two eyes. I didn’t see anything redeeming,” Quarren rebutted. “Well…” Alea chuckled. “You haven’t seen what I’ve seen.” In the year 917 of the Imperial Calendar, the Great War had just ended between dozens of nations. Farrien welcomed home millions of troops and warriors with the Archdukes of Aerianne and Kanaria leading them at the forefront. Since the founding of Farrien, the Aerianne and Kanarian Archduchies have been pillars upholding the Kingdom from enemies. It was common belief that they possessed special blood blessed by the Goddess Stecia, who gifted the lineage to the first King of Farrien when he first founded the country. All were ecstatic when the current generation of the two Archduchy's, after the war, agreed to let their children wed. The excitement was short-lived however when the Aerianne Princess proved to be a dragoness among men but the Kanarian Prince was worse than even mediocre. The Prince disappeared and the wedding was shortly forgotten as society lived on. Until one day the Young Heir of Kanaria returned to Farrien a changed man, bringing demise with him. Follow the story of the Chosen ordained by the Goddess of Time as he returns to the past to right his wrongs and set things back straight again!
