《Airi in a Thousand Worlds》Flags Are Built Through the Efforts of the Cannon Fodder (2)

Rosenbell mansion, five years later.
Leila has grown up into a young child.
Seeing how her hair grew out as white as it was during her birth, the whole mansion has come to terms that the young lady will always be slightly different than the rest of them. However, there was little negativity shown by the people in the mansion regarding this matter.
It was because, she was still a normal child.
The white hair even highlighted her charms even more, making her look like a little doll.
The young lady grew up to be an extremely adorable child, with eyes the colour of the blue sky, inherited from her father. The young lady was so lovable and cute, even if a new staff came in, they would still be unwilling to mistreat or dislike her.
The family was also expecting another child along the way, perhaps two, judging by the size of the madam’s belly.
Every day, the young lady would drag her maids to visit her mother. With sparkling eyes she would stare at her mother’s growing belly with the fascinated eyes of a curious child.
“Would you like to feel them, Leila?” Her mother asked, laughter in her eyes as she gazed lovingly at her cute daughter, soon-to-be elder sister.
“Can I? Can I?” Leila hopped excitedly next to her mother. She was often told by the adults to be extremely careful around her mother, and thus ever since her pregnancy was announced, she was extremely well-behaved and did not dare to move around carelessly around her mother.
“Here,” the madam took her little hand, directing them over to a spot on her belly. After a short while, Leila could feel something bumping her hand, causing her to flinch in shock.
The madam laughed at her daughter’s silliness, “Did you feel that? Your younger sibling is kicking. It means they’re healthy,” she spoke, a soft smile on her face.

Leila glowed, happily giggling as she hugged her mother’s belly. Her mother laughed beside her, “That’s enough now; finish your snacks and go back to your lesson, alright?” She gently reminded her daughter.
It has been a few months since Leila’s home lessons started; as was required for every child in nobility. According to her teachers, she was a quick study, absorbing much of the content like a sponge. She even excelled in her manners and etiquette lessons, doing even better than other noble daughters the teacher had ever taught.
“Mn!” Leila nodded happily, nibbling on the biscuits prepared for their tea time. After finishing her biscuits and drinking her tea, she stood up from her seat as the maids dusted off the crumbs from her dress, preparing to leave for her lesson.
She bade her goodbye to her mother and started walking to the door. The madam rose up from the seat, intending to send off her daughter at the door, however—
The madam hissed in pain. She felt a wetness on her lower body. The familiar feeling that she had experienced twice before allowed her to handle the situation calmly. “Quick, call the midwife. I think I might be going into labour soon,” she instructed the maid.
Her maids paled at the suddenness, but moved immediately to call the midwife and prepare the necessary items for childbirth.
Leila looked at her mother worriedly; despite the calm look on the madam’s face, the beads of sweat trickling down her pale face showed that she was in pain. “Mother?” Leila called out worriedly.
The madam smiled, “don’t worry, everything is fine. Mother needs you to stay outside for a bit, okay?”
The child nodded hesitantly as she followed a maid ushering her outside of the room.

A flurry of maids came into the room in succession, soon followed by a middle-aged woman. A maid stood guard at the door.
A muffled scream could be heard from the room, and Leila had recognised it as her mother’s voice.
Leila tried to enter multiple times, but the maid at the door refused her entry. “Be good, young lady. You must behave for the madam’s sake,” she scolded gently.
Soon, her father came in a hurry, followed by the head steward and her brother, as well as a few butlers.
Seeing his daughter by the door with teary eyes, his gaze softened. He patted her head in reassurance.
“Frederick, take care of your sister,” he instructed the young boy beside him. The maid led the man inside, explaining the situation.
“Yes, father.” Frederick moved to his sister’s side, enveloping her in a hug. The little girl could no longer hold back her tears, “Motheeeer!”
Frederick patted her head, “Shhhh, Leila. Mother will be fine. Everything is alright,” he whispered, but it was evident that he was also scared.

Lin Jin never imagined he would ever transmigrate. And to such a peculiar world at that. Here, deadly beasts were regarded as sacred, and thankfully, he owned a museum for deadly beasts. “Master, this is just a dying little tortoise…” “What tortoise? This is a rare species that contains the blood of a Black Tortoise and could be promoted up to level seven.” “What about this shedding mongrel?” “Mongrel? How narrow-minded. This is a branch descendant of the snarling hound with a hint of Kirin’s blood. Take my word for it and sign the blood contract at once. Sweet Minds
"No one can see it, some can feel it, and only the few can use it. We belong to the few." Marith Merryfield felt anything but merry that morning. She found herself waiting for a delayed train on a deserted platform, in the freezing cold of the Dutch autumn. Just when the strangeness is making her consider turning around and going back home an empty train rolls into the station. For reasons unclear to this day she decides to get onboard. An unlikely, and quite impossible, train accident is about to hurtle her into a world she had always suspected existed. It was a dark and absurd place she had rejected and suppressed when she was young. Now she would need that dormant part of herself to survive. After a brief hospitalization she must choose between two continents and finds herself reluctantly boarding a plane to Oregon to be reunited with her shadows. She returns to the town she grew up in, which is where her father still lives and her childhood memories linger. By the end of the week the mysterious train accident turns out to be the least of her problems. Her life was never supposed to become this serious this fast. Through an improbable and unfortunate series of events she is soon introduced to a motley crew of characters that appear to be carrying the same struggles through life. They possess a familiar sense of inadequacy and insecurity. Marith realizes that for the first time in her life she has found herself a tribe, or, as they prefer to call it, a Chain. She is introduced to a world of Prophets, Runners and Mages led by an Oracle and a Watchmaker. Over the course of several weeks Marith learns that, together with her Chain, she is expected to save this fabric of reality, by fighting a mysterious and immortal creature and his aggressive pet. In order to have a chance at overcoming this force of nature she has to revisit the darkest and most desolate corners of her mind. ***** The total word count of the first 12 chapters amounts to about 85.000 words.
