"Catch me Arthur san!" Alluka shouted as she prepared to jump off the tree.
"Wait Alluka chan, I'm not ready!" Arthur yelled, but it was too late. Alluka had already jumped and Arthur knew that he couldn't catch her in time.
"Alluka!" an unknown voice, seemingly another child, resonated throughout the forest. Arthur was shocked by the voice before realizing that it might have been Killua, Alluka could still be caught! Just as Arthur finished that thought, an aged man with white hair and clothes that spelled out 'A kill a day' flashed in front of him, ready to catch Alluka.
"Its Zeno! Fantastic! That means Alluka will be fine. albeit a little scared."
Zeno, with perfect timing, stood directly under where Alluka was falling, stretched out his arms and caught Alluka smoothly.
"Alluka chan, are you alright?" Arthur asked, deep concern seeped from his words, "You should have waited until I was ready to catch you before you jumped Alluka chan. Even then, you still shouldn't have jumped from such a tall tree. It's almost 12 meters high!"
"I'm sorry Arthur san, I should have been paying more attention." Alluka replied with an obvious tone of remorse.
"Alluka, are you ok?!? What were you thinking? Jumping out of a tree from that high is crazy! You could have gotten yourself seriously hurt or even killed if Jiisan wasn't there." cried the newly arrived boy. Arthur assumed that he would be Killua. The boy then turned to Arthur and began to rant, "And you, how could you let Alluka do something so dangerous! Aren't you smarter than that? You shouldn't even be here to begin with, how did you get past the gate and Mike san? You don't even look like you could beat Alluka in a fight for crying out loud. What do you even want with us anyways? You do know that we are the Zoldyck family, don't you?"

"I'm sorry Killua nii-san, Arthur san was just playing with me, you shouldn't yell at him for it. I didn't mean to worry and scare you or hurt myself. Could you please forgive me?" Alluka pleaded, feeling remorse over her actions.
"Hush Killua, you're frightening our guest over there. Alluka, don't ever do something like that again unless you have Tsubone san or Goton san with you, you could get yourself hurt." Zeno stated in a loving but strict tone. He then turned to Arthur and inquired, "So you're the one that Killua mentioned earlier, Arthur san right? What business do you have here? Do you plan to hire one of us or did you want to be trained as a zoldyck family assassin? Either way, I have to take you back to the mansion for questioning."
"I'm not really sure how or why I am here sir. The last thing I remember was a flash of light and then I woke up here next to Alluka san. In fact, I can't remember much of anything, it's all one big blur sir." Arthur replied in a respectful tone. There was no way he wanted to offend someone powerful and influential like Zeno. Arthur took a breath before continuing, "I think I have amnesia sir. If you would be so kind as to let me stay here until I recover my memories I would be forever indebted to you."
"We'll head back to the mansion before we decide on something like that. Come on everyone follow me." Zeno said, striding towards the family mansion.

"Silva, come over here! I have something to show you!" shouted Zeno, "It's Important!"
"What do you need father, I am busy. I am still the patriarch of the family you know." Silva retorted as he walked towards mansions entrance where Zeno, Alluka, Arthur, and Killua stood.

"Who's the kid?" Silva asked.
"That is Arthur san, he is what I wanted to show you." Zeno replied
"You called me out here for this? What is so important about him that even I'm needed?" Silva asked, "Is he here to hire us? If so, you could have dealt with that yourself, or better yet, you could have left him at the gate. We don't need to speak to everyone in person unless they pay the fee to hire us. Just send him off to wherever he came from, we don't take in strays unless they have potential."
"Silva, let's talk in private for a second." Zeno told his son. The two of them walked into another room, leaving the doors open, before Zeno continued, "He isn't here to hire us Silva, he appeared inside the forest when Alluka found him. He said that he has amnesia and wants to stay with us. I think we should let him. If you just take a very close look at him and you will see what I mean."
Silva proceeded to focus his eyes and take a close look at Arthur. After scanning Arthur with his Gyo, Silva assumed a stunned look for a moment before regaining his usual stoic, calm demeanor.
"So am I right to assume that you want to train him?" Silva asked his father, "Or do you think that Ojiisan or myself should train him instead? You said that he has amnesia, that means this is the perfect time to cultivate his loyalty to us."
"Silva, you need to be patient. We don't really know if he is telling the truth. Even if he has a lot of potential, that doesn't mean that he is loyal. I think that we need to test him before we train him in assassination." Zeno glared at his son's impatience before continuing, "I say that we allow him to stay here as a guest and observe him for a week. If he does anything suspicious, we kill him. However if he is truly clueless and has no other intentions, then we can train him."
***
"What do you think they are talking about, Killua nii-san?" Alluka asked in a concerned tone.

Fall of Jupiter
What happens when the most powerful man in the world loses his soulmate to a heart attack? What happens when an innocent woman is dragged into a world of magic, and superheroes? Who is the true hero of the story? Note: This is the first book I ever wrote seriously. (I even had a cover made before I decided against publishing it) I'd like to think my writing style has improved with practice, and the multiple other books I've worked on. It felt wrong to leave a nearly completed book gathering dust in my google docs, but I don't think it's good enough to be officially published. As a result, I'm putting it here instead where it at least won't be totally wasted. Eventually, I'll put in the last 10 hours or so to finish it for you guys. Hope you like it :)

The Villain's Double Life
“The Villain’s Double Life as the Hero’s Mentor," “Demon Nobles Want to Live Too: A Hero-Raising Simulator for the Transmigrated Villain," “Just Because I’m a Villain Doesn’t Mean I Want the World to End!” Cyrus Calvide was the second son of an aristocratic lord; haughty, vain and power-hungry. One day, when his ancestral inheritance manifested, he discovered he was able to steal other’s powers and abilities using demonic magic. Taking this as a sign that he was destined to rule over others and become the new king of this land, he poisoned his father, killed his elder brother, and embarked on the path to greatness, taking advantage of a demonic invasion to consolidate power and harvest the abilities of others in a cruel and bloody fashion. Until he was summarily defeated by the Hero as a mid-game boss battle and executed for his crimes, of course. When a dedicated fan of the RPG “Next to Eden” awakened in the body of the cruelest future Count, four years before the beginning of the game, he pledged to live humbly. He would let his brother lead and support the Hero from the shadows to ensure the demon invasion would be defeated and he could enjoy life in peace. Rather, he would have, if he hadn’t gotten the Hero’s mentor killed in a freak monster attack before the Hero’s training could even begin. How was he supposed to live a life of peace and luxury if the Hero couldn’t stop the end of the world!? Donning a mask, Cyrus took up mentoring the Hero himself; how hard could it possibly be? . . . Four years later, the kind jack-of-all-trades hero Leon had become a twisted powerhouse: alienating his party members, clearing enemy encounters in a single magical blast, and coldly ignoring the affections of the girl whose love would have allowed him to clear the final boss. He seemed to have plastered himself to his Master’s side, instead. Cyrus bit back his despair while the hero reached out to grasp his hand. “Please stop ignoring the saint, Leon; you can't beat the Demon King by grinding stats! You need the power of love, remember?” “Don’t worry, Master,” Leon smiled as he traced the lines of Cyrus’s palm gently, almost reverently. “I have all the love I need.” VDL is two parts plot and worldbuilding, one part slow-build gay romance, starring a man far too proud to admit he's in over his head and the hero who loves him. Should be updating weekly.
