《Escapia: A VRMMO》Chapter 13: The Soulhunter

Teleporting to Floor 5 Daemon couldn't see anything. It was pitch black. Meanwhile, Nyaru was terrified, holding Lockheart's hand.
In an instant, the floor was illuminated with blue lights. The players were on a floating circular platform made of black marble.
Daemon looked away and saw more circle platforms on Level 5 connected by staircases made of white marble. Then he looked at the sky and saw the blue glowing constellations in the sky. Some of the constellations were moving and floating slowly across the sky. Some just stood there.
In an instant, the stairs disappeared, leaving only the circular platform on which the players were standing. The boss named [Floor 5 Soulscapes: Soulhunter] spawned in the middle of the platform.
Boss was wearing a black cloak, only its left hand made of bones, and the long, wooden handle and long iron-headed sickle it was holding in this hand were visible through its body.
Soulhunter took its sickle in its right hand and began to spin it. Meanwhile, tiny red circles formed on the ground. For those who couldn't escape the red circles, Soulhunter threw them to the ground with the back of his boss sickle.
But HP Bars rarely dropped. While Daemon wondered why humans were unharmed, several fell off the sides of the platform from the impact of the hit. Screams rose from the void.
When Daemon realized the purpose of the boss's attack, he shouted to the other players:
"Guys! The Boss isn't meant to do damage. He's just trying to knock you off the edge. Stay away from the edges!"
Daemon's advice was more effective this time as there were Level 40 and above people in the Floor Boss event this time.
The other players nodded to Daemon's idea. Those with high range and standing behind approached the center of the platform.
Along with Daemon, five melee players sprinted towards the Boss, while Lockheart and other buffers used their debuff spells toward the Boss. Nyaru and other healers created area healing spots around.
Daemon and other melee players tried to attack the Boss. Daemon jumped up and tried to thrust his sword into Soulhubter, but Boss blocked the attack with his sickle. Daemon slammed to the ground as Soulhunter hit him in the back with the back of its sickle. Daemon fell to the ground and narrowly avoided falling off the edge of the platform. Nyaru called out to Daemon with the tension of the battle:

"Brother, are you okay!"
Although Daemon was hurt, he smiled at Nyaru:
"I'm fine, Nyaru. Just heal me"
"Okey brother!"
Nyaru opened his hands and a red light engulfed the Daemon from her hands. Daemon felt refreshed as light entered his body. His HP Bar changed from orange to light green.
As He stood up and sprinted towards Soulhunter again with his sword, he called to Nyaru:
“Every day your healing spell is improving Nyaru!
He raised his thumb and winked at Nyaru:
"Keep going like this!"
Nyaru smiled shyly.
Daemon raised his sword and pointed it at Soulhunter. The Boss was distracted, blocking the hits of melee players and spells thrown by soulmages with their wands with its sickle, then throwing away players who approached him with it.
At the same time, when Soulhunter turned its sickle to block attacks, even more, red circles appeared on the ground, with even more players falling off the platform.
Daemon started to tremble when he heard the screams. Then he took a deep breath, closed his eyes:
"I have to wait for the right time," he said to himself.
Just as a player was falling to the ground from above and Soulhunter was about to push the player with the back of his sickle, Daemon jumped up and struck the Boss' sickle with his sword. The sickle disappeared and split into wood-colored and silver particles. A frightening reddish glow flashed from Soulhunter's eyes.
[Floor 5 Soulscapes: Soulhunter has enraged]
When the boss was enraged, deathmages and buffers were able to hit him because he lost his sickle. Soulhunter's health was declining rapidly, but he wasn't doing anything, he was just raising his hand and a blue glow was coming out of his hand, but this had no effect in the battle whatsoever. The Boss's HP Bar slowly changed from light green to green, then yellow, then orange, and finally red. Another player killed the Boss and he got the final hit reward.
[Daemon obtained Kud x10,000]
[Daemon obtained EXP x25,781]
Each party member leveled up to:
Daemon: 49--> 51 (Dual-swords unlocked!)

Lockheart: 43-->46
Nyaru: 42-->46
The people happily picked up the teleport crystals and lifted them into the air, but they couldn't teleport. Daemon frowned as Lockheart ran from the back of the platforms to come up to Daemon and shook him on the shoulder:
"DAEMON! ENEMIES ARE COMING!"
"H-huh?"
Lockheart pointed away, Daemon squinting to see tons of white figures hovering over the players, in the center of the platform. Meanwhile, the in-game message came:
[Floor 5 Soulscapes: Soulhunter, Phase 2/2]
As the white figures got closer and closer, Daemon realized they were skeletons.
Players panicked as the skeletons approached the center of the platform. Daemon furiously wielded 2 swords at once. The Mythril Sword and the Volchr Sword touched each other. Yellow particles and blue particles mixed.
As Daemon was running towards the skeletons, Nyaru suddenly stopped Daemon and pointed at the fighting melee players:
"Brother, look!"
Daemon stopped running, and the screams of Swordmaster, Blademaster, and Assassins abruptly arose as they approached the skeletons.
Daemon saw skeletons exploding when they were out of health, throwing nearby objects off the platform. When Daemon noticed this, he patted Nyaru's head and shouted:
"Do not approach the skeletons closely! Stay in the center again! Deathmages stay in the very center, remove your shield if Swordmasters is level 50! Blademasters pull out their second sword! Get around the Deathmages and protect them! All that remains, just stay away from the skeletons, do nothing else."
Daemon took a sigh. Players wouldn't listen to him and they would run after the skeletons for EXP. Rolling his eyes and grumbling, he walked over to the Deathmages in the center.
But something happened... A Swordmaster came alongside the Daemon, then a Blademaster, then five more, then ten more…
The Deathmages sprinted behind Daemon and other melee players.
People were listening to Daemon. From the front, the melee soldiers held their swords and shields against the skeletons, reducing the effects of explosion damage from the skeletons, from the back Deathmages killed the skeletons.
The beams of light the Deathmages created made a pretty sight with the explosions of skeletons.

[Daemon obtained Kud x2,500]
[Daemon obtained EXP x3,650]
After the last skeleton exploded, Daemon ran towards Lockheart and whispered in her ear:
"Maybe you're right, Lockheart! Maybe it's early to lose my faith in humanity."
Lockheart nodded while giggling. The sudden happiness and pride on Daemon's face were pleasant.
Daemon put his hand behind his head and proudly screamed to the other players:
"YOU ARE WELCOME GUYS, YOU'VE DONE A GREAT JOB!"
Daemon closed his eyes, waiting for a round of applause from the other players.
But other players took out their teleport crystals and rolled their eyes, some turned to Daemon with a cold stare, some didn't even look.
A few laughs came from behind:
"Bro, don't get too excited, just because you ALSO thought about some strategies and said it out loud doesn't mean you're leading us!
"We thought about those too, idiot"
"Do you seriously think we're babies or something, we're all level 40 above, almost all of us are experienced players!"
"You're just embarrassing yourself!"
Players continued teleporting.
The smile on Daemon's face suddenly turned into a blank expression, Daemon suddenly collapsed to the ground and looked at the floor. Lockheart called out to the Daemon:
"Daemon, are you okay!"
Daemon shuddered and replied:
"Do I look okay to you, Lockheart?"
Lockheart ruefully patted Daemon's head:
"Oh, don't worry about them. I and a lot of other players have followed your tactics."
Daemon stood up and looked Lockheart in the eyes:
"Seriously?"
"Yeah."
"Ok, at least I'm still somewhat important in here, I guess..."
Daemon swung around for a bit, then turned his head back to Lockheart:
"By the way, Lockheart, my faith in humanity is still none. But I guess, I have faith in you and Nyaru now."
