Chapter 9: Demonic Hunting PART 1
2 DAYS AFTER MEETING HIS HEADMISTRESS
Currently Night time at Demon’s Forest of Death (Outer Part)
A youth clad in black-red coat is venturing deep in a dark eerie forest. He occasionally walks fast and slow trying not to disturb any hidden inhabitants of the forest.
“Shit! This forest has many demonic beast like the one we encountered before, it has even an aura of 6 th level of Master Rank!” Lucas wiped his forehead.
“Good thing those demonic beast doesn’t have the ability to hide their aura or else you won’t notice it before you rush in and you will be their dinner for tonight.” Riviera giggled.
“Oh come on, don’t scare me like that!” Lucas whispered.
“Stop speaking nonsense… Oh look at that one, it is a Wolf-type demonic beast with a spirit power 5 th level of practitioner rank! It’s good for your first kill, quickly kill it or—“ Before Riviera can finish her sentence, Lucas summoned his armament and quickly stabbed the throat of the Demon Wolf.
(Note: Wolf-type Demonic beast= Demon Wolf for short
and spirit power/ soul power)
“Can you at least let me finish before dashing straight?!” Riviera complained.
“It’s not that I don’t want you to finish, it’s just I already know what to do.” Lucas rubbed the back of his head.
“But next time, listen to me or we will both die!” Riviera yelled.
“Sure no problem!” Lucas said enthusiastically.
“Soul gems of Divine beast are located at their head, so maybe it is the same for demonic beast, extract it if it is there.” Riviera said.
Lucas nodded then he used his armament and pierced at the head of the Demon wolf. After doing so, he noticed a small shiny black orb with black fogs inside swirling violently. He picked it and examined it.
“Is this a Soul gem?” Lucas asked at Riviera.
“Yes it is. It is just a little different because there are no fogs on soul gems of Divine beast. All soul gems are round and they all vary in size and color. Surely you know the ranks depending on color right?” Riviera asked.
Lucas nodded then he quickly put it in his spatial ring and he walked out once more fearing the smell of blood will attract more Demon beast.
After a while, Lucas found another Demon Beast but just like the other one, it was slaughtered by him and got its soul gem.

After walking for a while…
“Oh I sensed 3 Demon Wolves in Practitioner rank ahead. Surely you can take them down, just use it as battle experience.” Riviera beautiful voice sounded.
After hearing it Lucas summoned his armament Sigmund and dashed once more. As Lucas dashed, the demon wolves noticed it and quickly evaded Lucas’ stab but unfortunately Lucas calculated it and used a technique.
“Wind blade.” Lucas said in his mind.
Green aura immediately condensed at the tip of his armament and he swung it directly at a Demon wolf quickly severing its head. Seeing one of its companion died quickly at Lucas armament, the other 2 wolves simultaneously barred their fangs at Lucas. Seeing this, Lucas used another technique.
“Lightning wave.”
Violet sparks appeared all over Lucas’ body and with a casual flick of his finger the sparks scattered at every direction stunning the 2 remaining demon wolves.
Lucas walked towards the demon wolves and slashed his armament quickly ending their lives. Lucas then extracted the soul gems.
“Mmm.. Not bad. You know how to use your Spirit Skills, no need to worry about your safety here at the outer area of this forest.” Riviera’s voice sounded.
“Eeh, so this is just the outer area, huh.” Lucas walked towards deeper into the forest.
“Hey hey! Do you want to die?!” Riviera said worriedly.
“No, I just want to experience more. How can I become strong if I can’t experience danger and hardships?” Lucas said to Riviera.
“Ok fine! Just don’t be reckless and if things get dangerous just run.” Riviera reminded.
“Ok miss beautiful” Lucas chuckled.
“Wuu!! Stop it you damn bastard!” Riviera furiously said.
The two then ventured deep in the forest.
(Inner Part)
Lucas now was in the inner part of the forest. After walking for half an hour, he noticed some movements behind bushes but when he carefully looked at it he can’t find anything. He felt something doesn’t feel right, he examined his surrounding but he didn’t find anything so he asked Riviera.
“Hey, Riviera don’t you feel something was off?” Lucas asked while keeping his alertness to the max.
“Why ask me! Use your spirit power to scout the surroundings. Don’t tell me you didn’t scan the surroundings while walking?” Riviera said.
“Hehehe, I don’t know how. I only used my senses earlier.” Lucas laughed bitterly.
“Just say SCAN then you can check your surroundings.” Riviera sighed.

Lucas said Scan in his mind but when his spirit power scattered at the surrounding, he couldn’t help but sweat because there are 6 Demonic Beast surrounding him.
“Hey you told me that they can’t hide their aura, why didn’t I felt it earlier?” Lucas asked nervously.
“You idiot! This is their home so they know how to use their surroundings to hide their aura. And I thought earlier you were scanning the surroundings before we go into the inner part!” Riviera angrily said.
“Well I can’t escape this so might as well test myself to improve my battle experience.” Lucas gulped.
Lucas drew his armament then he assumed a defensive stance, unsure when the demonic beasts attacks he can only Scan the surrounding to see their movements.
Not long enough, the Demon Beasts started to move. Lucas seeing they move quickly, he followed their movements until it went on his line of sight. He saw a black- cat like creature with red glowing eyes staring at him.
“Damn luck! These Demon Cat is very agile and it is hard to strike at them. What’s more they are 6 of them and they are also at the 7 th level of Practitioner rank..” Riviera cursed.
“Hey little miss, you should not curse, it doesn’t suit your appearance.” Lucas laughed but he didn’t lower his alertness.
“Can’t you stop joking? We are in the middle of the fight you know!” Riviera yelled.
“Hahaha.” Lucas laughed but seeing the Demon Cats have completely surrounded him, he gripped his armament tighter.
Not waiting for the enemy to do the first move, Lucas used another technique called Mirage Step. Dark aura circulating his whole body but he didn’t move in the slightest. The Demon Cats pounced at the unmoving Lucas but who would have thought that after hitting Lucas, the image suddenly disappeared and they only hit the air then they heard a faint growl. As the Demon Cats look at where they heard the sound, they only saw Lucas’ armament stabbed at the throat of their companion. Seeing this they growled in anger then surrounded Lucas again.
“This kitties doesn’t learn.” Lucas grinned but he didn’t move, he only pointed his sword towards a Demon Cat.
Once again the Demon Cats pounced but the same thing happened again they hit nothing then they only heard another painful cry coming from their another companion. Turning to look at the origin of the sound, their knees couldn’t help but tremble because Lucas swiftly severed the head of their companion ending its life once again. After seeing this, the Demonic Cats quickly scattered and escaped not wanting to see Lucas again.
“Ehh, why run away?” Lucas grinned.
“They are no match for you. Just find something stronger.” Riviera sighed.
“Really? I am at 3 rd level of Practitioner Rank yet they can’t kill me?” Lucas said.
“Hmph! Don’t get too confident. Soon you will find your match.” Riviera said.
Lucas once again walked deeper in the forest.

Aegis Academy Main Branch
A girl seated in a chair, staring in the sky, seemingly lost in deep thought. She once stood up but seated once again. After a while, a figure suddenly appeared behind her.
“Hehehe. Little Lily, thinking of something?” The figure called out.
Precisely Lily, the so called Lucas’ little sister. Lily turned her head to look then once again stared at the sky. The figure walked closer to Lily then asked her again.
“What are you thinking little Lily?” asked the figure.
“Hey aunt Celia, why did you let Lucas go at the Demon’s Forest?” asked Lily.
“To test if he is worthy for you and also for the benefit of the Academy.” Celia said, Celia who is Lucas’ Dean or headmistress.
“You don’t need to do that and besides, he is my first friend and also he is a mysterious person.” Lily argued.
“Lily, we should find the most suitable person who can accompany you to the Divine Realm to meet your Clan. Even though you are almost in the Saint Rank, we cannot guarantee that you will be safe. There are many dangers in the Divine Realm.“ Celia sighed.
“Hmph if something happens to onii-chan, I will not call you aunt anymore.” Lily said unhappily.
Hearing this Celia only laughed bitterly. But deep within their hearts they hoped Lucas to be safe. They felt that Lucas was something extra-ordinary but they can’t tell what makes them thinks so. But one thing is sure, they were worried for Lucas, because in the Demon’s Forest there resides a being strong enough to cause the destruction of a city.

Ph. D. In Sorcery
Follow Anastasia, the unlucky physicist turned wizard, as her reality gets turned upside down and she is plunged into a world of gods, magic, swords, and adventure. Short and sweet description, anything more would be a spoiler and I detest those. Now, what you can expect from reading: This is my first time writing, or better said allowing someone else to read that mess so don’t raise your expectations too much. Still, I will try to keep the story flowing, while also devoting as much time as I can to editing. In my opinion, the story is written at a faster pace than normal with time skips here and there. I will do my best to not allow the faster pace to ruin the story by using those time skips to raise the skill of the main character. I am mainly looking for feedback while I test myself in new and unexplored waters. I did put a lot of thought into worldbuilding and the magic system, it is something that has been mulling inside my head for years before I sat down to write anything down. First and foremost I am an engineer and not a writer. I will try to do my utmost to make the world logical and consistent, but sometimes I might not express that in a way that’s clearly understood. I have a rough outline with several possible endings, but the story will change and evolve as I do. But in case I have to stop for whatever reason, the story will get an ending. It will be done even if I have to send coded messages from a bunker. I am a big fan of the Dresden Files so you can be certain that everything mentioned will in most cases be used, with a few red herrings sprinkled in the mix. But that also means I will enjoy putting the main character through the meat grinder while I eat popcorn and laugh from my evil lair. Physics, and to be more precise electromagnetism, quantum field theory, general and special relativity are very interesting topics for me that I research in my spare time. That means that the premise of the story will be using that research to bring logic to magic. Stupid I know, magic is magic, but to me, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be a concrete set of rules there. But it is still magic and that allows me to play with some things that shouldn’t normally be possible. I will focus on evolving the main character and having her react as anyone normal would, from my perspective. There will be scenes of battle, gore, and sexy times, but I will not go into too many details, counting on your imagination to fill the gaps. There will be plenty of combat, even battles ranging from a few dozen, a hundred, and thousands of participants. I could go on but there isn’t much to say that would convince anyone to read, either you thought the title was cool or you liked the poster. Or not, but after several days in photoshop, that’s the best I could do. And the title was originally Sorceress with a Ph.D. The new one makes a little less sense but I like the ring of it more for some reason. I just hope someone enjoys what I write as much as I do. In the end that is the reason, I am doing this, because I enjoy putting my thoughts on paper and seeing the outcome. Credit for the art: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/e0o8nw
