V01 CH 02 : Awakenings

We then enter the chief daughters room. Inside it just a simple room with a dresser, a bucket filled with water beside it and a girl with a blonde hair and blue eye sitting on top up the bed. She is quite young, I think her age about 11 or 13 year old.

Marlow then said, “How your body, Diana?”

“I`m fine father, thank you.” She said with a bit of tired voice.

She then looks at me, smile draw on her lips, with a gentle voice she greets me.

I then answer her with a smile and a nod.

Marlow pulls a chair and place it near the bed where Diana are.

Marlow asks me to sit down, after sitting down, I then start check her body condition.

Basically, I check her body with the common knowledge of earth, I place my hand on her head to know if she has a fever, I ask her hand and check her pulse and ask the symptom of her illness. From what she told me and from my own experience, I`m sure 100%, this girl have a typhus disease.

Thanks goodness this is a curable disease.

Eh, how i know such a thing? Well, back on earth i used to have the same diseases you see, the symptom are fever, dizziness, headache, chills and other flu like symptoms. So, the moment she told me about it, i`m become pretty sure it`s typhus and not other diseases.

It`s probably can take someone life to, so immediately treatment are require.

After I explain all I know about typhus diseases, somehow, Marlow gets a surprise, I can see it on his face. I titled my head and say “Huh?”.

“Well, you see, I thought my daughter's illness is because the evil spirit, that's why I called priest from the capital to exorcist my daughter. Think it`s just a natural illness huh.” Marlow said it with a sigh.

“True. But, on your daughter's case, she has a disease that need an immediate treatment or the diseases could get worse and perhaps can take her life to. I think it`s a wise decision to call a doctor to treat her.”

“Well, if it`s a priest, we can afford to summon one. Because priest gets paid from the kingdom. So, when a priest come to our village, we just have to give them food and a place to stay. But a doctor is different, they work only for money, and the medicine they give also very expensive. A commoner like we are can`t afford it you see.” Somehow, I can see a tear come out of Marlow eyes.

Marlow that notice I have seen him cry immediately turn away and wipe his tear.

Meanwhile, there is no change in Diana expression, she just keeps smiling purely since we greet each other.

Huh, Doctor and medicine are expensive?

I have a meal with Marlow just before and from his meal, I don`t think that this family is so poor that they couldn`t afford to get medicine from a doctor though.

Now if I recall, this place is very remote village. There is no TV nor electricity. Maybe the doctor here takes advantage of that and charge them with an expensive medication huh, what a bastard.

“Father, please don`t cry. It`s couldn`t help that we can`t afford a doctor, but we still have a god who always with us, isn`t. He is very generous. If I keep praying to him, surely my illness will cure itself. so please don`t worry too much about it.”

Sigh, now it`s come to this, I don`t know what to do anymore. Typhus are curable diseases, but without medicine, no one can cure it.

Well, they though I`m a priest don`t they, guess I just have to give her a prayer like a priest do, maybe. Then I just get down with it.

“Well, there is only one thing that we can do. Let`s us start praying to God now. Pray together are better than just praying alone after all. Perhaps, if we pray together, God might immediately answer it.”

I said it while I am watching Marlow that start sobing now.

Diana chuckling when she sees her father sobbing while a priest tried to cheer him up.

“Yes, please do priest.” She said it while still chuckling. What a pure girl. I become more filled with guilty to trick this girl.

Diana then sits straight while closing her eyes, then she put her hand together. She starts to recite a word of compliment and the gratitude word to God that her worship.

I then stand up and put my right hand on top of her head. While closing my eyes, I then start reciting a prayer word.

“In the name of God, the infinitely compassionate and merciful. Praise only to God, lord of all the world. The compassionate, the merciful and the ruler on the day of reckoning. Guide us on the stright path. A path of those whoe have received your grace. Not the path of those who brought warth, nor of those who wander astray.”

Then suddenly, I heard Diana shout joyously. “Father, my body, I can stand up now. God has answered our prayer. The father looks, I can stand up now.”

“Eh?” (Musa + Marlow).
