《The Broken System: What Bred the KING》Even I don't deserve this much happiness

"Ahhhhhhhh" That was all that came out of my throat. To begin with, the vocabulary of my world didn't mean a thing here. There was no way to communicate and even if there was I don't think I could say anything else when someone chopped my leg in front of my eyes.
I don't know what happened but their attitude towards me changed. It may 10 days or maybe 20 days ago, I don't have any clear idea about the time but it all started when that old man stopped coming.
The old man would always try to communicate with me, take blood even try to teach me. But who knew that was VIP treatment. The change happened on the very first day he didn't come.
His replacement was vicious. On the very first day, they drew enough blood to force him senseless. It was the same routine for the next couple of days before they chopped off one of his fingers. The number continued to increase each day. For the last couple of days, they even chopped off my limbs.
There are a few things I understood. They are researching me as I did on various lab animals. They have no regards whether I live or die.
And I am going insane. I didn't remember whether it was there when I first wake up but its voice continued to increase with the torture. I am not sure about what that voice in my mind is talking about. To say the least, it is not happy.
More importantly, I don't know what I am. I am not a human, to say the least. No human can survive with the loss of such amount of blood or without a limb. But what was most intriguing was I continued to grow the lost limb or blood in the span of one night.
"#£&@&£&£#@£" The voice in my head continued to increase after those people left with a bountiful harvest. The pain was still there, so was the lightheadedness. Eyelids were heavy, it was even hard to breathe, I don't remember when it happened but I lost consciousness.
****************
*Boom*
The assaulted table disintegrated under intense force. Even then those around the table didn't dare to breathe.
"Give me one good reason why I should not fire you." Unlike the project leader before him who was a pure mage, Aryu was a magic knight. So none dare to question his authority.
"Specimen of Saint Kaijosh wasn't so easy." He couldn't complete his sentence when a cup slammed on his forehead. Blood was running down on his face, still, he didn't dare to voice his pain.
"I don't want to hear excuses just give me the solution." Silence enveloped the room again.
"The heart." It came from someone standing at the back. Any other time one would have missed such a low voice but…
"Come and explain."
"What even that sample 27 is that is not a human. We didn't get any trace of elements in its blood neither it had the property of a magical beast. But…"
"Get to the point." The voice startled that young mage but he continued.
"Whatever it is, it had magic in it. And the only place that could act as sources of magic is his heart. So if you study…"
"Good. We will do it. You will be in charge of the part." Aryu didn't have the clam to listen to the end, but those sitting in silence became agitated with his words.

"Lord please reconsider, the heart of a magical beast is not some trivial thing. We have to be very…"
"Can you give a better solution?" Anyu's voice sounded more like a growl of a ferocious beast.
"But that the sample could die."
"What value does it have while living."
A silence followed. None dare to talk, none dare to look at Anyu. Without results, they could only accept the order.
"We will extract the heart tomorrow. Make all the necessary precautions."
"Let's hope that we don't repeat the disaster of Teian province." The old mage was sitting at the edge of the room and left without waiting for their response.
******************
"Is that true?" The black metal armour was glowing with a blue hue. Along with it, the soldier was standing with a longsword in his hand. There wasn't just one but ten of them. With twenty mages standing around to strike a moment's notice.
Still, the young magic knight couldn't help but feel nervous. The being who was hanged by the limbs is not a human after all. No matter how proficient in magic, even a dragon couldn't regrow a limb in just one night, much less survive.
"Yes, I heard that the Teian province incident happened because they tried to extract the heart of a sample."
"Whatever? We don't have to worry about an outbreak. This island is a long distance away from the mainland, so…"
"Hurr… who is worrying about the outbreak? If something similar happens then will be any survivor?"
A chill ran down the spine of the young knight but before he could respond, "Knight take your position. The magic circle at ready, ready your scrolls, be ready to act with a drop of words." Anyu entry restored the order in the room.
In the middle of the room, at the very centre of a giant magic circle was the body of a human child. Nobody would believe that it was the same specimen no 27. Each time it grew back one of its limbs, it will grow younger.
This was the very reason many have begun to believe he is the key to unlock the riddle of immortality. Willing or not most of the mages was eager to study the specimen. The specimen, who was hanging in the middle of the magic circle wasn't awake. Without that beating heart, many would have believed that the cold body didn't contain any soul at all. It was at that very moment.
*****************
"What's more do you want? Do you want to kill me? Just kill me." I howled like crazy but was sure that they didn't understand me.
Whether they understand me or not isn't a matter to me. Last time they cut off three of my limbs. I wasn't sure how I survived but recovered in just one night. Starting from the body of the twenty years old I now have a body of an infant but that necessarily a good thing and...
"@#£#@&£#" the voice in my mind was screaming like crazy. Mumbling in intangible language the voice was driving me insane. I wasn't even sure did I shouted on my own will or not, it has its effect.
The shield on the hand of those armoured soldiers now have stronger hue, so was the magic circle.
'Is that knight?' I had never seen one before, so I wasn't sure about it.
'That shouldn't be my concern now.' as the man in the back mumbled something four people started to close in. Despite their weird dresses, it was their weapons that had me worried.

"That thing could kill," I shouted again. They hesitated but another shout from the back forced them to move. I looked at the back, the person who was leading all of it was staring right at me.
Before I could understand his order, a pain spread from my chest. The sharp blade-like object had pierced through my chest, hot blood was trickling down from the wound.
The intention of struggle was forgotten as the tattoo at my wrist and the throat was glowing with piercing pain. The pain was forcing me to lose consciousness and on top of that voice in my head reached its peak.
'I am going to die again?' Looking at the beating heart in front of my very eye couldn't let me think about anything else. 'What had I done to feel such pain?' I couldn't think straight anymore.
'Just let me in peace.' I could only sigh and accept my fate.
"Do you need my help?" All the sounds vanished from my ear. For the first time, I had heard a language that I could understand. In the moment of surprise, pain and anger busted out of me.
'I want to live.' I wanted to scream but words never came out.
And the last thing I remember was the heart right in front of my eye caught fire. In a blink, the blue flame turned the body of the man in ashes and I lost consciousness.
*******************
"Please forgive me." The face looking at me was the same one that was giving orders. Surprised, I wasn't sure what was happening around me.
Bodies littered everywhere, blood had dyed the ground red. The building around him was in ruins and was burning in bright red. But what stunned me most was, most of the bodies were scrambled around me.
"Did I do it?" I couldn't help but mumble. I wasn't athletic, to begin with, even though I have dissected small animals in labs, the human is of my species and only insane people can stay steady with the massacre of this level.
But the person in front of me wasn't so compelling. He jumped at me as soon as he had observed me absent-minded and a dagger plunged into my chest.
'Didn't you take the heart out my body and am not I still alive?' Right at the moment the thought appeared in my mind I understood how silly I was. Next moment an excruciating pain spread from the wound. The something in deep red had started to slither out of the wounds.
"Ahhhhhh"
"Haaaaaaa. At last, I have got you, you devil. Who would have thought that bastard Kaijosh had created a devil? If I can control it then…"
'Even when standing in the sea of dead bodies the man could fantasize?' But I did not have the free time to observe the crazy knight. That thing was spreading through my body and I was screaming like crazy. The pain was...
*Boom*
The heart, my heart exploded like a shot fuse bomb. Sending the dagger, that was stuck in my chest, flying. The happy face of the knight darkened. He turned and run without hesitation.
"Do you know how hard it is to recover this body and you are destroying it non-stop." With the voice in my head, the blue flame spread through my body. Everything recovered in a blink. There was billion of thing I want to ask, just the moment a known language appeared in my mind. But…
"What you want to do that one?" The voice was asked without a shard of emotion.
A chill ran down my spine when I thought about the red field around me. Even my body had done did it still it wasn't me. And if I say the voice will kill him without hesitation but still it about a human life… But he tried to kill me. The moment I thought about the bone-chilling memory of the last three or four months resurfaces in my mind. Blood rushed to my head, I could feel the anger surging up inside me.
'Is the voice trying to induce me? Even if he is doing me…' With a deep breath, "If I have to survive, he has to die." Next moment my body moved like a bullet and he appeared in my view again.
"Let me go, I can make you a…" He couldn't complete his words before my bare hand plunged through his chest. Before blood could come out of his chest, blue flame spread again and he was reduced to ash in a blink.
Even when killing my first human I felt clam. Maybe because I had hatred, maybe due to my fatigue mind I was calm but it was short-lived.
"Ahhhhhhh" Another set of scram escaped my throat. There was no wound or blood, neither there was any flame but my body was burning like crazy.
"Everything has its price." The voice was there but I couldn't respond, I couldn't even stand. Someone inside my body was trying to shrink and I struggled to stay conscious but failed as my thoughts were starting to get diluted.
"Ahhhhh" the scream escaped from me not because of pain but due to intense hunger and it came casting a giant shadow on me. Not one but two.
"Look he is awake."
"How cute?"
'What cute are you talking about? A man drenched in blood couldn't be cute. Wait a moment' A chilling thought appeared as I rose my hand. 'This is the hand of a child!'
"Who left the child in the forest?"
"Does it matter? A child couldn't survive on his own on the island, can it?"
'Is this the same island? Where else would it be? I couldn't leave the island, to begin with. Could it be the voice that took me away? Even then they might be able to find the place. I have to leave the place before they find it.'
"Let's raise him. He will be our first child. We can raise him." At the woman's words, the man gave a silly smile.
"We can't leave the child die. Don't you want to raise him? I won't let you…" before the woman can continue her angry argument the man stopped her, "Would I have taken it here I am not willing to raise him?"
The woman was stunned for a moment then broke in a bright smile.
'This is good too.' After what I had gone through, the heart-warming sight felt good. 'Even if they found that sight, who would doubt a child who couldn't even move on his own. But… still, you should get a room' Looking at the couple, in each other's embrace, I couldn't help but smile. Unfortunately, the stomach growled at the wrong time.

Five years ago, Owen became a Court Wizard in search of his father who was lost to the unknown three years prior. But that wasn't the beginning of the story. Maybe it began twenty-three years ago when Ronald Bell and Joshua Ruze saved the Illyer family. Or perhaps, it all started twenty-nine years ago, when Ronald, the son of the wealthiest merchant, became a Court Wizard. Well, it doesn't matter anymore, for the story five, twenty-three, and twenty-nine years ago shall now meet its end. 2nd book written in the Wizards of the Otherworldly series. Read Wizards of the Otherworldly Court: Alicia first. This story is split into two 'Collections,' Ronald's Collection and Owen's Collection, each centering around those Court Wizards. Crossposted with WordPress site, Wattpad, Sufficient Velocity, and Rainobu. Wizards of the Otherworldly Court is a fantasy story about the Otherworldly Court, an inter-dimensional (or world-hopping, you get the idea) organization made up of people of all ages, gender, and race from many parallel or different worlds. They are granted elemental-like magic powers and called themselves 'Court Wizards'. They are tasked to watch over the many worlds they come across and step into these worlds on 'missions' to preserve the balance, life, order, anything to make said worlds better places in the shadows but may reveal themselves if necessary. However, these missions may partially or even fully oppose their nature, personal interests, and ideals. Yet, most of the Court Wizards are aware and willing to complete even the worst missions that would shatter their true selves that they will never cast aside regardless, either growing or regressing because of it. Basically, it's isekai to multiple worlds but each book after Wizards of the Otherworldly Court: Alicia focuses primarily on one world while also discussing its lore in detail. Book Alicia is the introduction containing the essential worldbuilding of the Otherworldly Court universe you need to know while shoving in as many characters and worlds as I can. Also, each book will have a different main character, sometimes more than one in a single book, like Jojo.
