《The Legend Of Drog》Chapter 8: A Shack

"What … did you just say?"
"You heard me Go, I am not going." Drog walked passed the dumbfounded Go and left the building through the door behind him.
Ro and No both turned their eyes to Go. "What do we do now, brother Go?" Ro said and No nodded.
Go furrowed his eyebrows, "Before we leave for the sword sect, we have to show Drog what happens when he doesn't listen to me. It seems the previous two lessons were not enough for him, and he needs the third one."
"Yes brother, Go," Ro said and No once again nodded his head.
"Do we go and teach him the lesson now?" Ro said.
Go shook his head, "We can't, if Big Sister Ri catches us while we are teaching him a lesson then we will be the ones to get into trouble. She made us apologise when we called him trash, who knows what she will make us do if she catches us as we are teaching him a lesson. She might even make us kowtow to that trash. We have to do it so no one sees it."
Ro nodded in understanding and No said, "Big Brother is smart."
Go smirked, "Of course I am, that's why I am the leader."
"Drog is stupid for not listening to big brother," Ro added.
Go nodded, "Yes, he is stupid." He laughed.
"So what do we do now?" No said.
Go nodded, "We will have to make him come to our usual place, if he goes there, we will be able to teach him a lesson."
Ro tilted his head in confusion, "But how? He refused big brother earlier. How do we even make him come out to our place?"
"I will do it!" No shouted out.
The two turned their heads to No. "You think you can do it, No?" Go said.
"Yes, big brother, I will do it," No said with confidence.
Go nodded, "Alright. Then I and Ro will go to our usual place. We will wait for you."
"Yes, big brother. I won't disappoint you." No excitedly ran out of the house.
"Do you think he will be able to do it, big brother?"
"I don't know but he is one of us. Let's believe in our brother. Let's go to our usual place and wait for him."
"Alright, big brother."
Go and Ro walked out of the building and once outside they looked around but they didn't see No nor Drog. "Do you think No has succeeded?" Ro asked.
"I don't know but let's go to our usual spot."
"Alright, big brother." He thought, "Maybe No had already succeeded and is now leading Drog to our usual place? But if that is the case then we have no time to waste!"
"Big brother, Go, I am running ahead!" he dashed ahead of Go.
"Why are you running!" Go shouted out to Ro who moved away from him.
Ro turned his head, "If No had already succeeded, I am sure he will need our help!" he turned his head back and rushed into the distance.

Go furrowed his eyebrows, "Only a few moments passed, could No already succeeded?" Once his thoughts concluded he saw that Ro was already quite a distance ahead of him. He shook his head and ran after Ro, "Wait up! I am coming too!" Go sprinted towards the distant Ro.
Ro stopped and waited for Go to catch up; after he caught up, the two children ran to their hangout place which was to the west and two kilometres away.
…
After leaving the building Drog looked around and after not seeing anything interesting thought, "What do I do now? The elder of the sword sect will only arrive in four more days. Do I cultivate until then?"
Drog sighed inwardly, "Might as well." He headed straight for the area where he cultivated the entire last night. When Drog stepped out of the village - No rushed out of the house.
"Where is Drog," No thought as he looked around. Two breaths of time passed and he furrowed his eyebrows. "I can't see him anywhere but he must be somewhere in the village," he thought before heading deeper into the village to search for Drog.
…
"Here it is." Drog walked over to the tree where he cultivated the night before.
"You are going to cultivate here?" Liu Ri said.
"Is there a problem with this spot?"
"You should go find an even more remote place than this. This is an open area, who knows when someone might come over here. For cultivation, it's better to find a place where no one can disturb you."
"What happens when others disturb me while I am cultivating?"
"It will cause damage to you and depending on what were you doing when you were interrupted the damage may differ. If they interrupted you while you were guiding the energy through your meridians then your meridians might get damaged and your cultivation might get pushed back. If they interrupted you, while you were in the middle of breaking through a bottleneck then the damage would empty all the Qi you had accumulated and if they interrupted you while you were learning a skill then the effect would be the same as when breaking through a bottleneck."
"So I was taking a risk when I cultivated here last night?" Drog breathed a sigh of relief inwardly, "I was lucky that no one found me while I was cultivating, I should be more mindful of the place next time I cultivate."
Drog furrowed his eyebrows, "Why didn't you say anything last night?"
"Because it was night and not the day."
"What does that have to do with anything?" he asked with slightly irritated voice.
"Humans don't usually walk around in open fields at night. Because of this, this place was relatively safe last night."
Drog sighed, "I see."
"I should go and find a more remote place before sitting down to cultivate," he thought before walking away from the tree and into the distance.
After walking for a while, a forest appeared before Drog and before the forest stood a lone shack. "A shack?" He thought and walked up to it; once closer, he got a chance to get a closer look.

The shack was one storey high and was made entirely out of wood, however, It was old and abandoned. The door was broken down and the windows were shattered. "It looks like it was abandoned quite a while ago, it might be a good place for me," he thought.
Drog walked up to the door but before he could pass through the broken down door, Liu Ri said, "You are going to cultivate here?"
"It seems like it was abandoned quite a while ago, so I can cultivate here without worrying about getting any disturbances."
"You are right, it has been a very long time since anyone has come through here."
"How do you know?" Drog asked with curiosity in his eyes.
"When your cultivation base is as high as mine, you will be able to tell."
A corner of Drog's lips rose, "I see."
Drog walked through the broken down door and entered the shack; once inside he looked around.
Inside the shack there were no doors – the entire shack was made up of a single room. The floor of this room was littered with scraps of wood. There was not even a single piece of furniture left intact, all the furniture was reduced to scraps. Besides the scraps of wood, in the corner of the room laid a single skeleton.
"It seems there was a fight here and because of this fight the furniture was broken down and someone was killed," he thought after looking around.
"Master, does your cultivation base also allow to know what's happened here?"
Liu Ri harumphed, "You don't need a cultivation base to know what has happened here, you have figured it out already haven't you?"
"Yes. The attacker came from outside and broke down the door, then entered and killed the person in the corner of the room."
"Yes you are correct, it was just a situation concerning two mortals who never awakened their dantians. Nothing interesting."
Drog walked to the middle of the room and with his legs cleared the area of any scaps. He then sat down on the ground and closed his eyes. He sensed the energy flowing around him. Drog grabbed hold of the energy and absorbed it through his skin; moved it through his meridians; into the dantian.
His eyes only opened late in the evening. He saw the setting sun through the window, "I should return back," he mumbled.
When Liu Ri heard that Drog wanted to return back to the village, she furrowed her eyebrows, "Drog, you should leave this village and join a sect of some sorts. You need to get access to various materials that cultivation world can give you, as you are now, you are just wasting your time."
"I will leave after four days."
Liu Ri frowned, "Why would you wait four days?"
"The elder to the sword sect will arrive in four days."
"You are planning to join the sword sect?"
"I don't really care about this sword sect but I have to teach Go a lesson. He needs to learn the difference between me and him."
"From his words, it seems like he wants revenge against Go but he doesn't want to kill him, he just wants to teach him a lesson. That's not really the way of my sect," Liu Ri thought.
"If he has offended you in any way, you should just kill him and be done with it."
Drog's pupils constricted, "Kill him?" He thought, "Such a thought never flashed my mind but what would killing him achieve?" Drog shook his head, "No, killing him is out of the question. He has to live his entire life knowing the difference between us."
Liu Ri narrowed her eyes and thought, "Out of question? Does he mean killing him is out of question or killing, in general, is out of the question? If it's the former then I can leave this remark slip but if it's the later then I will have correct his way of thinking."
Drog walked out of the shack and headed back to the village.
…
Ro and Go only stopped running once they arrived at their usual spot.
"There is no one here," Ro said after not seeing anyone else.
Go caught up to him and stopped, "Yes, there is no one here."
"I thought that brother No succeded or were we too late?"
Go looked around the area and shook his head, "I don't think so."
The two children sat and talked until evening came; once it came Go furrowed his eyebrows but before he could say anything he heard something from the east. He turned his head and saw No coming alone.
He frowned and thought, "So he has failed."
Ro saw No as well, he ran up to him, "Where is Drog?"
No shook his head, "I couldn't find him."
Ro frowned, "What?"
No lowered his head in shame, "I have searched the entire village but he was nowhere to be found."
Go nodded, "Let's go back, it's almost dinner time."
Ro nodded and No said, "I am sorry for disappointing you, big brother."
"Don't worry No, we will get him tomorrow. Now let's go back."
No raised his head and nodded, "Yes, big brother."
Ro nodded as well, "Yes, big brother."
The three children walked back to the village together and once they returned they saw Drog sitting at the table.
"Go, Ro, No go sit down, the dinner will be ready soon." Big Sister Ri said before any of them could open their mouths to speak. They all looked away from Drog and all in unison said, "Yes, Big Sister Ri."

Ten Thousand Sallys
Imagine waking up in a hospital room, you can barely move. No one comes when you call. The only other person present is a little boy, who is, surprisingly, more help than you would expect. What would you do? This is the exact situation Sally finds herself in. Almost immediately she discovers that nothing is what she thinks it is. Not the boy, not the hospital, maybe not even herself. She is in deep trouble and the consequences will be dire if she can’t find a way out. She is a fighter, though, and just doesn't quit. As a baseline human, she starts as the lowest of the low and has to claw her way up in spite of being tangled in a shifting web of schemes and plots. She has to do her best, and maybe her best is pretty good. As Sally uncovers more about her situation, she finds that she has to be smart and tough and that in this place she needs to depend on her friends, who are using her as much as she is using them. This book contains themes concerning life, death, and body functions, light swearing, minimal nakedness, and should be suitable for most. Some pertinent info: Ten Thousand Sallys is a complete novel of approximately 140 pages in 20 chapters. Around 80,000 words. not too long, and maybe too short. Give it a read and let me know your opinion.
