《Mutant Farmer in the Apocalypse》Little chick

Yang Zhang was surprised when the chick suddenly pecked the Mana bead as if the small chick wanted to eat it.
Of course, he didn't want to use a small chick as his new companion because what could a baby chick like this do? Launched itself into zombie's mouth and be their snack?
After knowing the amazing power of Dynamic Fire from the Mana bead, he didn't want to give it up to a random animal. He wanted to give it an animal with superb agility, maybe a deer or at least a monkey.
"Hey! Don't eat that!" Yang Zhang yelled to the chick, but the little chick ignored and continued pecking, starting to create a dent on the Mana bead.
"Hey!" Yang Zhang was about to snatch the Mana bead, but the Little Chick pecked his hand. "Ouch!"
He thought a chick's peck wouldn't be painful, but the pecked spot actually started bleeding.
"Holy shit, this little chick is aggressive!" Yang Zhang tried to snatch with his other hand, but the little chick quickly kicked the Mana bead away from Yang Zhang and continued pecking.
Yang Zhang tried to get up to no avail. He was spent after using way too much energy against the jungle fowls. Thus, he ordered, "Chestnut, Ivy, catch that chicken!"
"Vii!"
"Squeak!"
Chestnut quickly jumped out and chased the little chick. But the Little Chick quickly dribbled the Mana bead away from Chestnut.
Chestnut tried to tackle the chicken, but right when the squirrel was so close, the little chick jumped out and stomped Chestnut right on the back.
"Squeaaak!" Chestnut laid weak on the ground in pain.
"Oh, no, Chestnut!" Yang Zhang glanced at the little chick who continued pecking and making an obvious dent in the Mana bead.

"Damn it! Ivy, catch that little shit!"
"Vii!" Little Ivy unleashed four vines lashed towards the little chick. But the Little chick faced the four vines that could break rock without fear and then gracefully avoided one vine to another before pecking the vines without mercy.
"VIIII!" Little Ivy wailed in pain as the vines were ripped, and it was even worse than before when the adult jungle fowls pecked her.
She retracted the vines quickly and showed the damage to Yang Zhang, "Vii…."
"Damn! What kind of chicken is that?! How could that little chick hurt Ivy this badly?!" Yang Zhang yelled. "Hey! Don't waste that good Mana bead—"
Crack.
"GYAAAAHH!" Yang Zhang was hysterical when he saw the Mana bead had cracked split to half by the little chick.
The little chick had little to no care and started eating the Mana bead by pecking the Mana bead bits by bits, just like a regular chicken.
Yang Zhang, who couldn't move at all, could only watch his dream of some cool helper had been shattered as the cracked Mana bead was slowly consumed by the little chick.
After eating the Mana bead clean, the little chick stared in Yang Zhang's direction, and slowly, there was a fiery red aura engulfing its body.
Of course, it was a small fiery aura befitting the chick's size. But it was bright enough and acted like a flashback in Yang Zhang's eyes.
"CHIIIRPP!"
Yang Zhang closed his eyes when there was an explosion and a flash from the little chick. He thought the little chick was a goner, probably turned into a bite-sized chicken wing at this point.
But the moment he opened his eyes, he saw the little chick's body had turned orange, and he had literal Goku's Super Saiyan 2 hair on its head.

"What the—"
The little chick walked towards Yang Zhang's spot, stood right in front of his face.
"Oh no!" Yang Zhang closed his eyes again, bracing himself if the little chick wanted to burn his face, maybe as an act of revenge because Yang Zhang tried to snatch the little chick and all the siblings before.
But surprisingly, the little chick just chirped before jumping and landed on Yang Zhang's head.
The little chick rested peacefully on his hair, and Yang Zhang opened his eyes slowly.
"H—Hey, what are you doing up there?" Yang Zhang asked the little chick.
"Chirp, chirp!"
"Huh? You want to stay with me because you don't like your family?"
"Chirp! Chirp, chirp!"
"And you've been planning a coup d'etat towards the rooster commander all along because he is a dictator?"
"Chirp!"
…
"I didn't know that a little chick can stage a treason to its own dad…." Yang Zhang didn't want to think much about it, and he started negotiating with the little chick. He didn't go easy with the little chick because he remembered how the rooster commander could command an army of jungle fowls. Now imagine the offspring…
"Listen, little guy, when you're with me, you cannot leave, and you shouldn't stage a coup d'etat at me, understand?"
"Chirp!"
"In exchange, we will go on an adventure of slaying zombies and exploring many places!" Yang Zhang said.
"Chiiirpp!"
"Hehe, well, if you are willing, then we should give you a name. Of course, I cannot call you little chick every day. We need a proper name!"
"Chirp! Chirp!"
"Huh? You want to be named Torchic? H—Hey, that's forbidden. We would get copyright trouble if you used that name."
"Chiirp… Chirp!"
"What? Do you want to be a military Lieutenant? Sure, but you need a name to follow that title…."
Yang Zhang was thinking of a proper name. He wanted a name that would show the little chick prowess, although he hadn't seen the little chick showing off its power.
"Chicken… wings… wings… hot…." Yang Zhang mumbled, trying to find a good name, then he found one!
"How about… Lt. Spicy Wing!? You know, Spicy wing means you're a good menu—I—I mean, you're fiery and strong!"
"Chirp! Chirp!" The little chick hopped on top of his head a few times, showing its agreement.
"Hehe, okay then! Your name is Lt. Spicy Wing now! Let's embark on a dangerous but fun journey, okay?"
"Chirp!"
"Okay, I've found a new member! Time to plan on another journey to find more Brain bead and Mana bead!"
"Chirp!"
"Vii.."
"Squeak."
Yang Zhang looked at Little Ivy, who was still whimpering in pain, and Chestnut, who lay on the ground, just like him.
"Alright, we will move… right after I can get up."

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
