《Chaos Realm; A VRMMO Tale》12. Crazy levelling system?

'But why?' Gene couldn't understand the reason she was forced out of her class. Others had done much worse. Was it just because she went against the morality of a pacifist? But then, Dragon God wouldn't be that bother with such a petty crime. No matter how much she tried, she couldn't figure out the logic behind it.
Looking at her bedside table, there were countless papers of research laying waste. All the quests she had marked and were perfect suddenly became sore in her eyes. Without her previous exp boost, doing quests suddenly became a chore. As she kept thinking about it, she suddenly felt enlightened. 'I can pick up bounty quests!'
A new world immediately opened in front of her eyes. All those great quests she threw away, those she had dreamed of completing, suddenly became viable. With the renewed spark, she tackled the forums and started compiling a new list that she would follow praying in mind that nothing will go wrong again.
'Maybe this wasn't as bad as I thought.' Gene looked at the mirror and smiled before climbing back on the bed to sleep. She slowly drifted off to the night thinking of how to progress the next day.
The next day, Gene was seen happier than the regular self. She was happily browsing through the history and list of quests in Olahal City. All players lower than level 80 were stuck in the region where they spawned. She needed to progress faster and get out of that prison. There were enough incentives. As long as one tried to advance, it was an easy target to achieve.
Her interest was all in the chain quests. Most of them were kill quests but considering her low strength, thanks to her previous class, she wasn't in a suitable position to complete them. So she turned her focus to level farming. And she knew the best place to do that. 'La-Dalia' town.

The place was isolated and barely anyone would visit it. Since it had nothing of importance, no one would stay back in that shit hole. But to the back of the town was a perfect hunting ground for beginners. A hunting ground filled with level 1-5 monsters which were extremely easy to kill.
Thanks to the lack of players in the region, the place was always filled and it would be the perfect spot to mass farm. Well, it was created with a level 1 beginner in mind and the difficulty would only be so much but Gene had a decent armour to help her. With the gold she made from her 'sin', she could afford to buy a level 10 sword or dagger, whichever gave her more strength boost.
From the calculations, she needed at least 10 more points in strength to efficiently start completing the chain quests.
The classes were boring as usual. Most just attended school to keep their attendance. No one cared about the score and most people slept through the classes. After picking up lunch from the campus cafeteria, Gene went back to the dorm room preparing to join the Chaos Realm. After chatting with a few dorm mates, she walked back into her room and logged in.
Gene immediately left for the town after hiring a horse. Time was extremely precious to her. As she entered the town, she remembered a certain someone working in the town hall. Looking at her badge she smiled and walked in.
"Hi, I'm back." She walked over to the reception and shouted at the top of her lungs trying to startle the receptionist.
The vulgarity that followed was too strong for Gene's brain to handle. The proud hero of La-Dalia was reduced to a little girl covering under the front of the reception desk. After the flood of abuse, the receptionist calmed down and scorn appeared on her face as she recognised the little girl.

"Why are you here?" The receptionist's voice remained harsh.
"Can I get some kill quests please?" Gene looked at the quest board and saw the same old quest she once saw the same receptionist place.
"Sure." As if wanting to get rid of her fast, she gave a few requests to her directly.
"You forgot to stamp it."
Walking out to the fields, Gene was excited. She had no skills that could help her attack the monsters and so was forced to make up some of her own. The dagger she brought was sturdy enough to penetrate the skin of the small rabbits that proliferated in the region.
Seeing one of them getting slaughtered, the others started running around frantically. The rabbits were very agile creatures but had very little strength and health. The current Gene could easily stomp on them and kill them had they not been as fast as they were. The experience trickled in as each one gave her 10 experience points. Once she made herself familiar with the fighting, she went on forward, looking for more aggressive monsters.
The pastures were filled with monsters but being a beginner stage region, most of them were docile and ran away immediately when someone attacked. Even then the experience she was receiving was too little for her to enjoy the process. The experience Gene needed was too much making the smaller mobs worth too little. Gene walked over towards the end of the grasslands where the stronger level 5 monsters reside.
Shadow wolves. They always attacked in packs and the packs usually were high in numbers. These were the favourite levelling ground for new teams who joined the game. With good teamwork, any team could easily destroy the packs. This was later awarded as the best team building activity for upcoming beginner teams since it considerably increased the team's coordination.
The wolf pack contains alfa, 2 betas and a total of 12 adults. There are usually anywhere between 1 to 12 cubs depending on the season. Gene walked into the middle of what appeared to be a pack meeting. The neutral wolves didn't suspect anything. The many encounters in their previous lives don't seem to have taught them much.
Slash…
The wolves immediately recognised they had an enemy in their midst.
And then Gene waited for the pack to be reborn again sitting on the elevated rock beside what's left of the alfa's body.
