《Dark Chronicles》Ch 12 Alice

The girl and I start walking away from the scene I made. I take a few closer looks at her, she has strawberry blond hair and emerald green eyes that make her look very attractive.
We find ourselves in the room with the other women she moves towards one of them
"Don't! If you see that, you will never be able to unsee it so just leave it'
"But what if there's people who need our help?"
"I already checked there... No one is left to save in those rooms..."
Her face was struck with pain when I said those words. After a few seconds, she opened her mouth to try and fight what I had just said but she quickly closed it, and kept on walking.
I walk to the room and turned on my [Dragon Mark] then using that, I sent a fireball inside setting the place on fire as the girl quickly noticed.
"What are you doing? There are people in there!"
"No, there are only corpses in there."
"But why set the place on fire?"
"To destroy everything, create a diversion and give these people their final rest..."
"But what about the evidence of what he did here?"
"What evidence? A bunch of dead women and nobles... How does that incriminate Brentton? And all his rich noble friends and partners have to do is pay off some city guards, and spin a tail and it will look like I am the bad guy then they will start hunting me, maybe even you so it's best just to burn everything."
"But that's not right! That isn't justice for me or my friends!"
"Exactly... This world is not filled with justice, it is filled with the strong and the weak so if you are strong, you are the justice of any world, best to learn that now than later on."

She hanged her head in silence. I thought I could hear crying but I didn't have time for that.
I had to keep starting the fires, once I was done, I headed for the exit when something grabbed my arm it was the girl.
"Can we at least say a prayer for them?"
"Fine, you do it... I don't know any prayers."
She nodded her head and turned to face the burning room.
"Oh glorious god of light and heavens, [Aventus]. Please guide my friends in there way to the blissful afterlife and protect them, no matter what path they may stray on the Heavens. Oh great and mighty, bless my soul."
"It was a nice prayer but I think we should leave before the fire gets us."
"Thank you, my mother taught me that."
We start walking up the stairs. Along the way out of the mansion, I start more fires on the way out.
We quickly leave and reach the wall where I entered but how can we leave? I can't break it down, people will notice, I can't just leap over, just to leave the girl here, and I could jump over with her but I don't know how she would feel about that after what she's gone through.
But the fire is spreading and that will draw a lot of attention. Damn... What do I do?
"Ah, sir. How are we going to get over the wall?"
"I have an idea but you might not like it..."
"What's the idea?"
"I’ll jump over the wall while carrying you but I thought you might object to that idea."
"No, I trust you after you rescued me. I have no reason not to trust you."
She smiles at me. I can see it's a little forced but I can also see the emotion behind it. I guess there's no reason not to.

Now, I walk over and pick her up in a princes carry, then I deactivate my [Dragon Mark] to activate my [Sword Mark] and jump over the wall and onto the street on the other side.
Once I land, I make a dash for the closest ally and put her down then I turn off my [Sword Mark]. She looked a little sick, I wonder why.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes, yes, just fine... You just moved faster than I expected... Way faster, but still thank you. How are we going to get back to [Extasy] from here?"
"Easy... The sewers."
"What? Is that even possible?"
"Yes, just follow me..."
"Okay."
We begin walking down the alleyways, avoiding the people as we go. I hear some people taking about a fire at Mr Bretton's house but nothing else about it though then we finally arrived at the grate.
She looks down and backs away, then looks at me... What? Is she afraid of the dark or something?
"We can't go down there. It could be dangerous or something..."
"Are you just scared of the dark or something?"
"NO, I am just afraid of all the dangers down there."
"The only remote danger is the rats and they don't come close unless you smell like cheese. You don't smell like cheese, do you?"
"... No."
"Then we should be fine now... Come on, we can't stay here forever."
She hangs her head again but walks slowly towards the grate and looks in, then back at me.
"Are you sure it's safe?"
"Perfectly, so just jump in!"
She starts doing breathing techniques, in out, in out, again and again. I try to remain calm but this is ridiculous…
I push her in without warning she screams as she falls in I jump in after.
I land on my feet and turn on my night vision, I turn and see the girl against the wall scared stiff. I suppose I should have warned her before pushing her in. I walk close and try not to scare her with too much noise.
"See: told you no dangers at all..."
"Are you kidding me? You pushed me down into the sewers!! What are you, crazy?"
"A little... Now, shall we start walking, we have a long trip ahead of us."
"But how am I supposed to see in the dark?"
"Well, you're not suppose to. If I start a fire, it could explode so for now just stick as close as possible."
"That won't work... Got any other ideas?"
"Two choices: I can use my dagger and hit the wall every few seconds and you follow the noise or you can just hold onto my shirt your choice, both are equally good."
I wait for her response then I feel a slight tug on my shirt. I guess she chose the second option... Shall we begin walking?
'Drake, you still there? I need directions.'
'I can't leave you, remember? Take a left in the next 30 steps.'
'Thanks!'
I continue walking as I look over my shoulder to check on the girl, this is the first time I have had a really good look at her.
She is just shorter than me and has a very nice body, she is holding onto me very tightly and she is shaking. Could she be cold or something?
"Hey, are you alright?"
Instead of answering me, she just turns her head and puffs up her cheeks. Is she pouting? Why the hell is she pouting?
"... Alice..."
"What's Alice?"
"My name is Alice."
"Oh sorry. Alice, are you alright? You were shaking."
"It's just cold down here, that's all."
"Don't worry! It won't take long till we get out of here so just hold on, okay?"
"Okay…”
"And my name is Kaito. Pleasure to meet you, Alice!"
