《Who Cares!!?》Chapter 16

Alex was already famous in school for his looks, athletic body, and good grades, but now he had some new fame; Being a Genius.
He was walking in school, and everyone was just staring, they even started to clear a path for him.
It was obvious everyone was amazed. Some were jealous, but knowing they cannot compete, kept quiet.
Alex becoming a genius, didn’t hurt anybody, except the King, Hikaru. To him, Alex was someone who was challenging his throne.
All of Alex’s friends were glad that he got promoted, but the one who was the happiest was Asuna.
Asuna has been following Alex ever since that incident that happened a while ago, back in 7th grade.
It was a sunny day of the weekend.
Alex was visiting Yuuto, who lived in an apartment in a building.
When he was going to his apartment, he saw a girl with long black hair, wearing a long pale white shirt and jeans up to her knees, who looked like she was about his age, silently sitting on the railing of a balcony, listening to music on her music player.
--She looks familiar.
After a few hours, he was getting ready to leave. On his way out, the girl was still sitting on the railing.
--Isn’t she a little too close to the edge? She could fall off accidentally.
As Alex was about to go to her, Yuuto stopped him and said,
‘Don’t bother, she sits there almost every day, and she doesn’t listen to anybody.’
‘Um… okay, but who is she?’
’You don’t know? That’s Asuna Hayashi, she is in our class.
’No wonder she looked familiar.
It was 3 in the afternoon, Alex stepped out of the building.
As soon as he stepped out, he saw a shadow getting larger and larger just in front of him.

He heard a light scream and saw someone falling.
--This is going to hurt a lot.
Alex’s body suddenly moved on his own, and he instinctively caught the person.
It was more like he acted like a human pillow and broke the person’s fall. It turns out it was the same girl, Asuna, who was sitting on the railing.
Asuna came out of the situation without even a single scratch, on the other hand, Alex, who played the hero, suffered 2 broken ribs, fractured his left leg and got a broken head.
‘Why… did you save me?’
Not the first thing you ask someone who literally just saved your life, but WHO CARES? Asuna asked it anyway in a sad tone.
Alex saw her face, and it was wet with tears.
Her iris, which had a purplish pink color which could have been beautiful, but her eyes were red, and her iris just made it worse.
--What happened to her? I can’t say anything stupid.
‘I can’t let someone die without a reason.’
--That’s the best I could think of?
‘So, I can die if I have a reason?’
Again, not the question you should ask the person who JUST saved your life, while also sitting on top of him. *What is wrong with people these days?*
‘We all have to die, and there is nothing we can do about it.’
Alex said that remembering that was what his mother told him.
‘But a person’s life is determined by his death, the more meaningful the death, the more meaningful was the life he lived…’
Those were the last words that came out of Alex’s mouth right before fainting.
Clearly, because he was losing blood from his head and she was still ON him but WHO CARES? Let them have their moment.

Asuna finally realized that before Alex could die there.
‘Alex? Alex? ALEX!!! Why did you stop talking? SOMEONE, call an ambulance quickly. ALEX YOU CANNOT DIE HERE!!!’
Soon after, Alex was hospitalized. Yuuto visited him the next day. He saw Alex lying on the stretcher with his left leg suspended in the air, plastered.
‘Didn’t I told you to not have anything to do with her?’
‘Now’s not the time to be funny, Yuuto’
‘I brought you a gift.’
‘Did you bring me some mangas?’
Alex was already bored staying in the hospital. Being a fan of mangas, which is the Japanese version of comic, he was desperate to get something to distract him.
‘No, but you are going to like it, you can come in now.’
‘The gift can walk?’
Yuuto just smiled.
Asuna entered the room with a bouquet and a get-well card on a fruit basket.
‘Um…my name is Asuna, sor-sorry that you ended up like this because of me and…thank you very much for saving my life.’
She embarrassingly bowed while offering the fruit basket.
‘Do me a favor and stop sitting on railings, can you do that?’
‘Of-of course, I’ll make sure.’
Asuna was blushing red with embarrassment.
‘Now, Alex, you don’t have to rub it in. Don’t you see she is sorry?’
‘I wasn’t trying to, sorry.’
‘It’s okay Alex, it’s my fault, to begin with, and I’ll do anything to make it up to you.’
‘Will you bring me manga every day?’
‘Alex, don’t do-’
‘Deal’
‘Wait, I was kidding.’
Alex was hospitalized for 2 months, and Asuna visited him every day, bringing him manga, and that’s how they become friends.
