《Who Cares!!?》Chapter 28

Alex arrived at the spot where the customer had asked. There he saw Jason waiting for him.
‘You calling me here must mean we have a lead on Dr. Watson’
‘More than that, I ran a full checkup on him.’
Jason told Alex what information he had gained as they continued to walk.
‘Dr. James Watson, a brilliant European scientist who made quite a name in the field of bio-engineering. He was a young and brilliant scientist but died at the age of 26 years old, 3 years ago.’
‘Making it the perfect excuse for being in Jira’
‘Exactly. He was unmarried, and it was often said about him. He never planned to marry since he was too much in love with his work. He died in a car accident or so it says, after that there is no useful information about him.’
‘Until now. Who would have thought we would be fighting dead people’
‘He is not dead yet.’
‘So, where are we going?’
‘To his apartment, I have managed to locate it, but it took me longer than I expected, he is cleverer than I thought.’
‘We saw that first hand at the zoo.’
‘Precisely, we have to more careful from now on.’
They continue to walk until they reached the eerie part of Kanagawa. The safe and secure streets were not looking safe anymore as they continued to walk. The environment became rough and rowdy.
The area became crowded. They continued to walk until houses and apartments came, and from there, they arrived at a beaten-down old building nearby a construction site.
‘His apartment is in this building, we both will take different routes to his apartment in case there are any traps. I recorded his daily routine, and he is out at the moment.’

‘Okay, let’s go.’
Jason quickly went to the backside of the building without making a sound.
‘Wait, you didn’t tell me his apartment num…ber.’
Alex tried to call out to Jason, but he was already gone.
‘Fine, I’ll just find his apartment myself.’
Jason skillfully ran up the wall, climbed up a pipe, and jumped to a staircase, carefully checking before taking his next step.
He then started climbing up by the edge of the other apartments’ windows then and then finally crept into Dr. Watson’s apartment from the kitchen’s window.
He quietly entered the apartment. Although the interior was rough, it unexpectedly clean and organized.
The time it took Jason to find Dr. Watson’s apartment was well spent as the apartment was full of evidence.
There were beakers, test tubes, and many types of machinery all over the room, each labeled with names Jason had never heard of before.
Jason started taking pictures and after carefully checking for traps. There was a laptop on a table along with some papers. Jason went to check the contents of the computer. He had just started that suddenly the bell rang.
--Impossible, he could not have come back this quick, is it someone else, but who?’
Jason silently walked to the door, taking out a syringe that can knock anyone unconscious in 10 secs. He got to the side of the door, needle in hand.
The bell rang for the second time.
Jason quickly pushed opened the door and was about to stab whoever was at the door with the syringe in the chest that it took all of his strength to stop and was about to fall down when he saw the person.
‘Hi Jason, I see you already let yourself in.’
Jason stood furiously to see Alex at the door, then grabbed and pulled him in.

‘Whoa!’
Jason shut the door forcefully.
‘Could you try to be a little more serious? And where were you?’
‘You forgot to tell me the address dumbass, so I had to find it myself. I asked the landlady. She was very nice. She even gave me these two sodas when I told her I came with a friend.’
Jason just stood there as he heard Alex’s unbelievable story, but the two soda cans proved that it really did happen.
‘Okay, I admit it might be partially my fault.’
Jason gave a half-ass apology, which Alex didn’t buy.
‘No, it was all your fault.’
‘Might be partially my fault.’
Jason just repeated his sentence only louder and more forcefully.
‘Okay, fine. So what do we have here.’
‘Lots of evidence, this investigation is starting to bear good fruit.’
Jason resumed his investigation with caution and expected Alex to do the same.
‘What does this stuff do?’
Alex picked up a test tube with some strange chemical.
‘Alex put that down, we are not supposed to touch anything here, and you are not even wearing any gloves’
Jason whisper-shouted.
‘Come on, it’s alright.’
Alex began to play with chemicals.
‘Hey Jason, catch!!’
‘Do-’
He threw six tubes at Jason all at once to see what he would do.
Jason barely caught all of the tubes with his hands, arms, and legs.
--The reports said that the procedure would also significantly increase the patient’s IQ. But now I highly doubt that.
‘Amazing, you caught all of them.’
Jason quietly reached into his jacket pocket to secretly retrieve the syringe. He was having second thoughts of needing Alex in this mission
Alex then suddenly sensed something.
‘Jason, be prepared. Someone’s coming, make that some people are coming.’
