《A generic love story: disturbance》Chapter 30

Sunday morning. The background for this story could be described as normal, even blissful. However, the volatile wind stood out. Such was its power and frequency that humans` hat fell, their hair messed up, their papers flew. Despite the nuisance, nothing was ruining the general high spirits Japanese had always has.
A bike was speeding up from the top of a slope. The brakes were broken. The cyclist panicked, not knowing what to do. Her hand shook, and the bike trembled. Winds grazed her face, as they made her bike screech. She screamed from fear. Many noticed, but only one immediately took action. He reached inside his bag and pulled out the new present he bought for himself.
Holding the huge combat knife on his hand, he rushed towards the slope. Standing right in the middle of the road, he waited for the victim to get in range.
“A… Aaah! Get away! You`ll get hurt!” Many bystanders yelled, but he did not flinch. As soon as the screeching sound of the bike wheels became audible, Takumi cocked his arm behind; blue veins bulged under his skin. The knife was then hailed from his waist, with a spin technique, aimed slightly low. It ripped through the air, revolving with incredible speed. The rapid spin made the heavy knife followed a parabolic trajectory, striking the wheel frame with a loud clang. Its beefy blade jammed the movement, as sparks splattered where the steel grinded against the aluminum.
Friction won, and the bike toppled, shooting the girl on it forward. Takumi`s height allowed him to catch and cushion her with no more than scratches. The charging bike flew over his side before crashing into a tree, as Takumi helped her up. Walking away without saying anything, he recovered his knife and ran away while bystanders crowded the shocked young girl. Having inspected the battered bike closely, his instinct told him something seemed fishy.

At home, Takumi polished the knife while thinking. The steel quality was exquisite, so the blade was fine. His syndrome replayed the scene, and with the new ability to see from any angle, he investigated.
(The girl was from our school. Couldn`t see her full name, but she was Shiraishi, our student council president. The bike`s brakes seemed to be cut, since the point where the wire broke was too clean…)
While Takumi became lost in his deductions, not very far from there was a couple. Eirin was taking Kyoya to her home. It was a rather high-class apartment building. They entered the reception area. Everyone was going about their own business. Without warning, a blinding flash of light sparked with a deafening bang. Everyone gasped and cowered, covering their eyes. Kyoya, however, saw the person, and he held his bloodshot eyes open, charging at that direction. Seeing a small flame being lit, he crashed into the figure holding the lighter. That guy fell with all of his equipment, and Kyoya mounted him. Tears overflowed his eyelids as he fumbled for the arms, locking them down tight. The offender couldn`t struggle against Kyoya`s iron grip.
Police arrived, and the suspect was captured. Only 20 years old, he tried to terrorize this apartment block with a flash grenade and many fireworks rocket. Had he not been stopped, the rockets would have severely burned anyone who was in the ground floor.
The officer couldn`t help but shiver while he was interviewing Kyoya. Exiting the room, people avoided him wherever he stepped. His blood was boiling as he thought of what could`ve happened to certain people had he not been there. Kyoya clenched his fists so tight that the fingernails marked his skin.

The Swarm
Anthony had been looking forward to playing the hottest new virtual reality game. When he put the VR helmet on he was met with a prompt asking him if he wanted to take a test to become a swarm knight. Thinking that this was one of the classes in the game he accepted. Instead of finding himself in the game, Anthony found that he was transported to a different planet. A planet where he would learn the greater truth of the universe. Everything was based on magic in the universe. Except that magic was based on nanorobots, called the swarm, that had been created through highly advanced technology. Genetics determined the access level and the amount of control that someone could wield over the swarm, and therefore their status in this society. Long ago Earth had been cutoff from the swarm. Now that it had been rediscovered, Earth would be reintegrated into the swarm. Unfortunately when that happened all the current technology on Earth would fail and be replaced with the ability to use magic. In effect, it would be the system apocalypse. As someone able to control the swarm, Anthony found himself in the unique position to influence how Earth was reintegrated into the swarm. Perhaps he could change things enough to save most of the people on Earth. But first he would have to learn how to control the swarm and become one of the leaders in the society he found himself in. Warning: If this fiction was a movie I'd rate it somewhere between PG-13 and R for occasional scenes of violence, gore, and nudity.
