《The Mafia Man's Girl》Chapter 8: Late

Arya's POV -
I was woken up by the sound of my alarm on Thursday morning.
Wait, that's not my alarm. It's my phone, but It's the sound of a phone call.
My eyes shot open, my head literally snapping towards the source of the sound.
My eyes got even wider seeing Rome's name popping up on the screen.
But then I almost screamed at my position. I fell asleep at my desk! Working on my essay!
My neck is hurting...
I got up off the chair, the blanket falling on the floor, and made my way over.
I was about to accept the call, only for my breath to hitch at seeing the time. I was going to be LATE!
School starts at 8 and It's 7:40!
Oh god, why didn't mama wake me up?
I picked up the phone and spoke without even thinking,
"Rome! Hi! I-I'm going to be late for school I only have 20 minutes, so now I'm freaking out and-"
"Arya," He scolded making my mouth shut and all I could hear was my heavy breathing.
"Relax, okay? Take a deep breath," He said and I followed his command, he could definitely hear my harsh breathing over the phone.
"Good, again," And I followed his order once more, breathing in, then out. I felt my breaths become normal again.
"Calm down, you're okay. Nothing terrible will happen for being slightly late. Have you gotten ready yet?" He asked as I made my way to the closet to find an outfit.
"N-No, and I still need to walk which takes 15 minutes, I'm not going to make it on time!" I exclaimed, grabbing a hoodie and some leggings.
I quickly changed and raced to the bathroom. "It's okay, I'll pick you up and drive you. I'm on my way now." I heard the rattling of keys in the background and immediately went to protest,
"Not up for discussion Arya, I've already left."
How did he know exactly what I was going to say?
I sighed and threw my hair into a ponytail, there was no time to even brush it.

Finishing up in the bathroom, I made my way downstairs, only to pause halfway down the stairs.
What if mama saw me on the phone? What if she asked questions? What if she found out I was talking to a guy?
"Mama?" I called, but received no answer. I was extremely thankful Rome was silent on the phone right now.
I glanced in the kitchen to see no one there. Where was she?
Deciding to think about it later, I focused on the matter at hand.
"I'm here darling." Rome said which I responded with an 'okay' and quickly ended the call.
Oh shoot! I left my backpack upstairs!
Racing back up the steps, I almost tripped over myself as I threw my bag over my shoulder and ran back down.
I opened the door and closed it, full on sprinting to the Ferrari that was parked in front of my house.
I'm pretty sure mama would have a heart attack if she knew who was picking me up and driving me to school...
The passenger door was already open, and I quickly got in and closed it.
"Thank you! Thank you so much Rome." I panted, trying to catch my breath.
I turned to him only to see his extremely amused face looking down at me. His eyes seemed lighter, and I could see him trying to hold in a laugh.
I stared at him in disbelief, "It's not funny! I'm going to be late!" I yelled making him chuckle and start driving.
"Nothing bad will happen darling, I promise."
I huffed out a breath and blew some of the baby hairs out of my face. I didn't even try to fix my hair.
I looked at my phone to check the time but then I saw a text from mama an hour ago.
An hour ago!? How did I even miss that?
Mama: Had to leave early and help your father with something. I left your lunch on the counter.
I left your lunch on the counter.
I left your lunch on the counter.
I left your lunch on the counter.

Arya's POV -
It was finally Friday, and after a longgg week of school, it was finally time to get ready for the party! I had no idea what to wear, and I had no idea what to expect.
I sent a quick text to Izzy on what I should wear, I probably should have done that earlier.
Rome had said he'd pick me up at around 5:30, and it was currently 4.
I bit my lip and searched through my closet. I didn't have a clue on what to wear.
My phone beeped and I threw myself onto my bed where it sat.
Unlocking it, I saw that Izzy had responded, and I happily pressed on her message,
Izzy: Wear something sexy! This is going to be your first party after all.
Something...sexy?
I didn't know how to respond to that, so I simply didn't.
I swallowed as I turned back to my closet. I didn't necessarily own anything sexy.
I also wasn't too comfortable wearing revealing clothes, which is why most of them were either normal shirts, hoodies, and I had literally one cropped top that I never wore.
Well, maybe this could be the night that I did?
I searched through my hung up clothes for it, keeping my eyes out for the black top.
I finally found it and pulled it off the rack then took a good glance at it.
It was definitely...revealing.
I decided to try it so I headed towards my drawers for a pair of black jeans.
Grabbing one that matched, I quickly changed and took a look at myself in the mirror, only to cringe at the image.
The crop top went a little below my bra line, exposing my stomach completely. The straps on the side were tiny so my shoulders were showing as well.
I looked for another minute, trying to debate if this is really what I wanted to wear to this party.
I did want to give a good impression, but was that the right thing to do in exchange for my comfort?
I didn't want to overthink it, It'll do.
So, I went with it.
Buttoning my jeans, I headed for the bathroom to brush out my hair.
I opened one of the drawers in the bathroom to see some of my makeup which was basically foundation and mascara.
I never wore makeup, it just wasn't my thing. But, I decided today to just wear a little mascara.
I finished that and parted my hair, trying to fix the crazy curls that flew around my head.
Luckily my hair covered most of my shoulder, so I wouldn't have to worry about that.
I finished getting ready and saw that it was now 5:20, I was getting super jittery. I was so excited to see Rome again!
Luckily mama and papa were out for the night, so I didn't have to try and get through them.
I felt slightly guilty for not telling them. After all, I had never really lied to them.
I was cut out of my thoughts by a text from Rome saying he was here.
Looking at myself once more in the mirror, I went with it.
Responding to Rome, I tucked my phone into my back pocket and made my way down the stairs.
I looked out the window to see the pretty black Ferrari that got me to school outside parked in the same spot.
But then I saw the gorgeous man standing on the passenger side with the door open. His pretty eyes were glancing down at his phone as he texted with those fingers coated with silver rings.
I felt my whole body heat up at the thought of seeing him, especially dressed like this.
I had no idea what he'd think, so taking one more big, deep breath, I opened the door.
I walked up to him with slow steps,
His eyes looked up to me, he smiled, but then they flew down to my outfit, well, my top.
He raised a brow as he looked back at me, and I felt my gut clench in one word. My face heated up into one word.
Embarrassment.
