《The Mafia Man's Girl》Chapter 9: Party

Arya's POV -
My whole face heated up at his stare. His brow was raised as he looked at me, and I found myself rambling.
I didn't want him to be disappointed.
"I-I'll go change, I know It's really really short and I didn't even want to wear it but I knew I had to-"
I cut myself short at the way both of his brows were raised. He looked confused for a split second before his features hardened.
"You didn't even want to wear it but you did anyways?" He questioned, dark brows furrowed.
"I...I thought it was the right decision."
"Darling, It's freezing out right now, It's even worse that you don't feel comfortable in it."
I looked down, ashamed. Stupid Arya!
I felt fingers under my chin as Rome raised my head to look at him. I had expected to see anger in those green eyes, but they were soft.
"Baby, you shouldn't wear something you're not comfortable in. Who cares what other people think? What your friends think. It's you whose going to be wearing it. If you don't feel comfortable, go back inside and change."
His tone was gentle as he looked down at me, his thumb rubbed my chin before releasing me.
"B-But,"
One stern look from him was enough for me to be turning and going back inside.
"Grab a jacket too!" he yells making me smile.
I head back upstairs and to my closet, picking out a gray t-shirt with a few swirl patterns inside.
I grab a black zip up and put it on. I sigh as I realize I'm much more happier in this.
I check myself in the mirror and then quickly make my way back down to the man waiting for me.
He's still in the same position when I return.
"Better?" he asks making me nod.
He smirks and gestures to the open door, which I gratefully get into. He closes it and makes his way to the drivers side.
As the drive begins, I find myself speaking up my thanks,
"Thank you Rome, I-I didn't know what I was thinking."
He gives me a sweet smile, "Trust me sweetheart, the crop top definitely didn't look bad on you."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We make it to the party at around 6, and It's already super crowded.

This wasn't really what I had expected, I thought maybe 10 people, but there seemed to be over 100.
I'm about to get out of the car, but Rome grips my hand.
"If you want to leave at any time, let me know." He says and I nod before we both get out.
His hand stays on my lower back as we make it to the door, people were drinking and laughing out on the front, music was blaring inside and out.
I cringed slightly at the loud noise, but I stepped inside anyways. It was even worse inside.
Teens were dancing on tables, chugging alcohol, and making out in every corner.
I was stuck in a trance as I looked wildly around for any sign for Izzy, even Trevor as I'm sure she'd be lurking around near him.
I felt Rome's body press into mine, almost like a shield.
I looked up to him to see his jaw clenched as he looked around. Eyes dark like a predators.
Perhaps he didn't want to be here?
I guess I'm no better.
"Come on, we need to find Izzy." I say over the loud music, unsure if he heard me. But he looks down and nods.
I grab his big hand and start to walk into the crowd, trying to locate the kitchen.
I know Izzy likes to drink, and most drinks are found in the kitchen.
Izzy was right, Trevor's house was huge! Literally 3 times the size of mine.
After searching for a few minutes, I saw a glimpse of a doorway to the kitchen and I dragged Rome towards that direction.
As we entered, I caught sight of Izzy and Trevor together.
Not talking, making out.
Rome looked in that direction as well before looking down at me. "Is that her?" His voice rumbled from behind me.
I nodded sheepishly before realizing I was still holding his hand.
"O-Oh, I didn't mean...to keep holding your hand, here-"
"No." He said, gripping my hand tighter.
My cheeks turned pink, my ears reddening at the thought of him wanting to hold my hand.
I gave him a soft smile and started to slowly walk towards the pair still kissing.
Standing in front of them, they still hadn't noticed we were here.
I cleared my throat, trying to get their attention, but to no avail.

I looked up at the man, the back of my head resting against his chest because of how close he was.
He was staring at the two with an odd gaze in his eye. A look I couldn't pinpoint, before realizing I was looking at him.
His pretty eyes snapped to meet mine before giving me a small smirk and brushing some of the hair out of my face.
My heart thumped harder at the act.
Rome looked back to them, before his head turned towards the plastic cups that were stacked on the kitchen counter.
With a small glint in his eye, he reached for 2 of them, holding both with one hand with his fingers by the rim of the cup. His other arm wrapped around my waist.
Jeez, he just wanted me to pass out from this affection.
There weren't many other people in the kitchen, mostly everyone was out in the bigger area in the living room.
So, he raised the cups up above his head and away from me as I watched with confusion.
He gave me a small wink before he dropped the cups, making a big clinking and clashing noise on the ground.
The two sprang apart, Izzy making a small squeaking noise while Trevor just looked confused.
Izzy turned towards us, before her face turned bright red at the attention.
But then, her eyes lit up as she stared at me, then became wide as she looked at the man beside me.
Her mouth parted slightly, then closed, then opened again like she was trying to speak.
"U-Um..." I mumbled, "Forgive him for that, I-I tried to get your attention before hand!" I squeaked, shaking my head.
Izzy cleared her throat as Trevor stood beside her, trying to size up Rome.
I looked at him with a brow raised, Trevor was tall, but not as tall as the green-eyed man.
Rome seemed to be calculating Trevor while Trevor did the same. Rome had slight disgust on his face, his jaw clenched and I couldn't understand why.
"Uh, well..." I tried to form words in this awkward situation that I desperately wanted to get out of.
"Izzy! This is Rome. Rome this is Izzy and her boyfriend Trevor." I murmured, gesturing to the two in front of us.
Nothing was said for a moment, before Izzy squealed so loudly, making Trevor and I jump in surprise. Rome hadn't moved an inch.
"This is him?!" She whisper shouted, thinking if she was quieter he wouldn't hear. But I know for a fact he did.
"Izzy!" I yelled, wide eyed and she squealed again.
Before I said anything else, Trevor spoke up, "I haven't seen you at school before."
My eyebrows raise and so does Izzy's. Rome definitely doesn't look like he should be in high school. That much is obvious.
Rome tilts his head before answering, "That's because I'm not. I graduated years ago."
Trevor scoffs, "Then why are you here with her? She's only 17."
I felt my face get bright red. I then realized that I never asked Rome for his age. I had no idea how old he was.
I watched as Rome's ringed hand turned into a fist by his side. His knuckles cracking slightly. Holy moly.
Izzy must have noticed too because she stared with big eyes at his hand.
"I don't see how It's any of your business, kid."
"Hey! Who are you calling kid?" Trevor grits out, stepping closer before I said quickly, "No fights!"
All 3 pairs of eyes turned to me and I covered my face with my hands, "Please, no fights. This is supposed to be a party, right? Parties end in good things. Not fights." I mumbled.
There was a little bit of silence, perhaps it only lasted a second, but it felt like a lifetime before I felt big hands separating mine from my face.
I looked up sheepishly to see Rome looking down at me with a small smile.
"No fights," He whispered, rubbing his thumb fondly over my knuckles. I felt the coldness of his rings.
I swallowed and turned back to Izzy and Trevor to see both their eyes on me.
Izzy I could understand, but why Trevor? His eyes always seemed to be on me.
"Right," Trevor said, and I looked at him.
"H-Huh?" I questioned and he smirked at me.
"Parties always end in good things."
That's what I had hoped.
I had thought it would be a good night.
Maybe the best night, with my two favorite people with me.
With Izzy and Rome with me.
But oh, how wrong I was.
And I was about to find out how good parties can be.
