《Mated to Morpheus》MTM.29

The mirror steamed, transforming my reflection into a blur. The heat from the recently shut off water had travelled through the beautifully crafted bathroom, the walls and the floor made from a mixture of tile and rock.
They say that Gods do live in luxury.
Something in my stomach twisted and my hand shot up at the sudden feeling, wiping away the condensation to reveal the frown that had formed from my lips. For a second, I felt as though I was staring at my mother, and I wished so badly that I could close my eyes and still be able to see.
To recognize the same nose, the same cheekbones, and the same eyes. To be taken back to that day, the last day I would ever see her.
My hair was soaked to the point of it being pin straight, and cascading down past my shoulders, a style that could only be seen when Viviana would get into the mood to straighten it. And, as I looked straight towards my large eyes, I noticed the dark, heavy bags that had grew over the last few days and had been dragging my face down. Then, of course, the only thing I had left to look at was the tiny indents that littered the side of my face, trailing up my nose and along my neck. Slowly, I brought my hand back to run along the harsh bits of my skin that had changed from holes to scabs.
I could already feel an ache settling in my bones. Certain areas of my body had started to go through the bruising process before I even realized that they were there, beginning with my skin and the darkening of a pale pink to a blotchy red.
Why are you like this? You could have avoided this, you know. All of it.
Placing the palms of my hands on the side of the counter, I leaned in, and whispered, "You know what, you're dreaming. Yeah, that's it. You're just freaking out. Bad milk, maybe?"
An abrupt knock on the door startled me enough to jump, an action that I was used to doing anyway as I was never one to not be paranoid. Usually, I would come up with an elaborate story about a kidnapper or a murderer that was out to get me, but this time there was no need of it, instead I already had a pretty good idea of who could possibly be there. And, even though I wasn't trying to impress him or anything, there was a silent pray of 'I hope he didn't hear me talking to myself' and the clearly obvious statement of 'he already thinks I'm crazy enough' that came to mind.
"Give me a minute," I called out shakily. At least he didn't barge in.
"Okay, Miss Luna. I'll be out here if you need me," the feminine voice replied.
Looking back into the mirror, I pointed, "See, you are crazy. You thought that Morpheus was a man this whole time, turns out, he's a woman."
"Excuse me, Miss Luna, but I am not Morpheus. It's Annora." I stood still, wrapped in nothing but a fluffy white towel, and listened to the voice behind the door. "Not to overhear, but can a human really be quiet if they're in an area near wolf ears?"

"You got me there."
"Before this conversation ends, I would like to properly apologize for eavesdropping on your, uhm, private talk with yourself." Annora let out an awkward noise that sounded a lot like an angel's version of an 'ahem' before adding on, "It will never happen again! From now on, I will plug my ears and hum to myself! Wait-No! I will not hum to myself, because that might be a distraction to you. I will stay completely silent, while still plugging my ears until you are done."
My cheeks puffed with laughter, or really a short and small giggle, but the sincerity in her voice nearly killed me. I couldn't tell if she was trying to be funny on purpose, or if that's what she felt like she needed to say. A real suck-up if I've ever seen one. "Annora, it's not that big of a deal. It's okay, really, if anyone needs to apologize then it should be me."
"No need! You have done nothing wrong," Annora assures me frantically, and I could feel the overpowering energy from her body pressed up against the bathroom door. She would have been hugging me if she could. "You're absolutely perfect!"
She makes me feel sane. Truly.
"Annora, you're very helpful to my self esteem." I smiled at my own feet before pulling back from the sink and tightening the hold that I had on my towel. "Say, do you have any clothes I could borrow?"
"Oh, Miss Luna! I am always prepared. But, the Alpha brought all your belongings here as soon as the water turned on!" She bragged loudly and openly about her Alpha's doing.
"He did?"
"Of course!" She added, "He would do absolutely anything for you, as any mate would! It's only natural for him."
Instantly, my stomach sank and flew at the same time. I swung the door open to be met with a disorganized mess of three suitcases, two of which were tiny and over the age of ten and then the third was the most recent one at a whopping 30 inch height, thrown around the room. The floor was littered with my random knick-knacks that I've collected over the years, empty glass bottles and keychains from places that I've never even been. The suitcases in question were poorly zippered up halfway and laying on the floor, except for one that was bulging and situated on top of a pile of clothes that were poured onto the larger than King sized bed.
I stepped out from the bathroom, with a cloud of steam following me and the scent of citrus clinging to my skin.
"You smell just like lemon, Miss Luna!" Annora gushed and clapped her hands together happily. "Oh! I am just so glad that you used it! Did the shampoo smell good? The conditioner, as well? It was silky, wasn't it? Oh my, I'm almost forgetting the scrub! Did it work well, was it smooth? I was a little frightened that it wouldn't turn out as well as I wanted."
Shocked, I was still eyeing the mess that was made in the room. Annora continued through my silence, "It's not my first time helping to make them, but those were done without any help! I just followed the recipe flawlessly and hoped for the best! You'll notice, Miss Luna, that almost everything in the pack is homemade."

I clutched the towel closer to my chest, and instead of replying to her, I let my jaw drop at the overwhelming sight. The sound of Annora's heels clicked as she walked quickly towards one of the doors in the room, and soon enough I was being draped in a robe that fit my figure to a T.
"All my stuff is here?" I asked quietly. The only sound to be heard was the water droplets rolling down my legs and hitting the floor. Pure quietness.
"Every single thing you've ever owned is here, Miss Luna," Annora spoke hesitantly, lowering her cheerful voice down as she felt the uncomfortable chill in the air. "The Alpha made sure that he did not miss a thing, I can assure you that. If you're worried about missing anything, I can-"
"How? Why? I don't understand. How could he walk into my house and take everything I own?" I asked in a sharp whisper and shook my head. "What if my father was there? What did he say to him? Anything?"
"Miss Luna, that is what mates do. It is custom to move in right away, especially if one is an Alpha. But, I do not know the specifics of the move, Miss Luna. I am so sorry. I never knew that it would upse-"
The large doors below had opened, and the echoing sounds of heavy footsteps stomping were becoming closer and closer with each passing second.
This time, there was no doubt that it was Morpheus.
Annora tensed next to me, frightened at the thought of a confrontation between the two of us mates. She took a gentle step in front of me, and I stayed completely still with my sight casted down, she took hold of the sides of my robe and pulled them together. I felt the tips of her fingers tie the belt around my waist, twisting it into a perfect bow.
She spoke softly, "You can let the towel drop now, Miss Luna, and I can take it to be washed if you would like."
His steps unknowingly turned faster and harsher as he travelled through the hallway, gaining speed as he neared the entrance of his bedroom. There was no time for me to say anything to her, not a please or a no thank you, as the double doors were being shoved open.
"You can leave now, Annora," Morpheus told her, demanded as polite as he could, and moved off to the side so that she could have space to exit through the door. His body shook with impatience.
She did a subtle bow towards me before turning away. Annora's eyes lit up at the sight of me watching her as though it was going to be the last time, a bad habit that I had always done as goodbyes were not very easy. "You can call for me anytime, Miss Luna, okay? That is what I am here for."
She left after doing another respectful bow that was aimed at Morpheus, and with a nod, he slammed the doors behind her.
Another fear encouraged jump had escaped me, and I tried to play it off by standing up straighter. There was no time for greetings, or so I thought. "Care to tell me why all my stuff is here?" I asked, snapping my eyes up to meet his own that were staring right back at me, and I poked my finger at him accusingly to keep the distance. "You had no right to do that, Morpheus, no right."
Morpheus visibly relaxed at the sound of my voice, even if my tone wasn't sweet by any means, and at the fact that we were alone. It was not surprising when my question fell on deaf ears, and instead of answering, he lifted his head and tilted his chin up at me while revealing a smile that tugged at his lips just enough to show off a sliver of his front teeth. Sharply, I asked, "Well, are you going to answer me?"
His green eyes focused in on me. Morpheus lightly dropped his head forward, and his dark hair fell gently over his forehead messily as he leaned farther down. He ignored my question. Again. At the notice of Morpheus advancing forward, I started to shift backwards, and his abnormally huge figure started to oddly shrink as he came closer.
"Step back, buddy. I'm not done with you," I told him while slapping my hand around, the other one resting on the top of my chest. "Are you listening to me?"
Morpheus shook his head slowly. And, I had moved so far back that I nearly fell over onto the bed once the edge of it touched the bottom of my back. I started to spit out random statements out of fright and hope that he would take the hint, "I have a bone to pick with you. You know what you did wrong. And, I really do have a problem to speak with you about. What you did was not right, not right at all. Why are you still moving? Go back! Go back!"
Suddenly his strong arms were locked at my sides, caging me in, and I was sat firmly into the cushion of the bed. My eyes were watching him like a hawk, and blinking was literally nonexistent. "You-You better step back, because I'll-I'll-"
"You'll do what?" He spoke confidently, and his breath fanned the side of my face as he still towered over me. My heart started to pound loudly in my chest, and I knew he could hear it, maybe even feel it. He shut me up, he really shut me up. Morpheus' knees dropped to the floor, banging against the hardwood and his face automatically dug into the soft fabric that was covering my thighs. Morpheus turned his face to the side as he wrapped his arms tightly around me, the bump on the length of his nose visible as I gaped down at him.
Did he just-
There were many confusing emotions and thoughts running through my head, but there was one that was most prominent.
"I'm not scared of you."
