《Alpha Daryl Reeds》Chapter 14

"Jake," I cried. I grabbed him, he made sure not to touch my back as he hugged me. I think Daryl had told him what had happened.
"Oh, Joyce thank god you're okay, we've been so worried. Daryl called us and said you'd been taken."
I let go of Jake and looked at Daryl but he was no longer in the room. He had left me to talk to my brother in peace.
"Is that why your here?" I asked.
"No, I'm afraid I'm here to tell you some bad news." Jake tells me, I didn't understand what could have happened in the one weeks I've been anyway from home. Other than me being kidnapped by my mates twin brother he didn't tell me about. Which made me think that I didn't know Daryl more than I thought from the rumors about him.
"I've come to bring you home, it's Axel he needs you." Jake tells me. I couldn't understand what was going on why Axel didn't come here himself.
"This is her home." Daryl says from behind us. So much for leaving us to talk alone.
"Well right now her family needs her." Jake tells him.
"Get off my land, your not taking her! We made a deal she stayed for one week! Now she's mine." Daryl yelled at Jake.
"Wait why do I need to go home? I just just there a week ago." I said looking at Jake who wouldn't look me in the eyes.
Jake doesn't get a chance to answer Hunter comes from behind and grabs him dragging him off, as he screams "You called me here to check on her to let her know what happened to her brother! Now your going to send me home because she's going to get upset with the news? She has been back for less than day and she gets kidnapped. Your not good enough for her!"

"What was he here for?" I yelled at Daryl forget about the sweet night forget about what he did for me when I needed him. I wanted to know what Jake was here for and what happened to Axel.
"Axel's mate killed herself." Daryl spoke low and without emotion.
"No." I blinked I couldn't think she wouldn't have, was she really that bad about losing her baby? I never lost one I didn't know the pain but I knew there were people and things for her to go to get help. I would never understand the pain she felt of course, but did she think of Axel?
"Joyce." Daryl called, I couldn't bring myself to answer. I felt myself fall to the floor, I couldn't stop thinking of Axel. he was going to be so broken.
I don't know how long I sat on the floor, but soon Jake was back in front of me. I guess Daryl had to go get him because he didn't know what to do. "Joyce, Joyce come on you have to be strong." Jake said. "Axel needs you the most little sis."
"I can't stop thinking of him." I tell him. Jake smiles sadly.
"He's waiting for you to come home."
I watched Jake pack some of my clothes, Daryl stood in the doorway. Less than a week I've been back and I already had to go home again. No one thought this was going to happen, Leah kept very quiet about it. We didn't know how badly she was hurting.
"Come," Jake tells me.
Daryl stood in the way. "Just come home please." Daryl begs a little trying to still act like a big bad Alpha.
I cried, I didn't know what hurt more. That Leah kept it from all of us or that she was my brothers mate and now that she was dead he'd be alone for the rest of his life. Or until he can find himself a mate.

I shake off the looks of my mate, of Jake who was standing there watch me fall apart. I run out the door, I stumbled upon a large field I didn't even know what was growing but I could see a lot of men walking through it. I walked around them, they seem to straighten up either backs and work harder. I didn't know if that was because they knew I was Luna well not really since I rejected Daryl. Sort of. Or was it because I was a Beta?
I stood next to a middle age man, he wouldn't look at me. "How long have you been working?" I asked. He flinched away from me.
I just shake off the weirdness, I walked to another guy he was a lot older than the first guy. " How long have you been working?" I asked him.
He just looks at me curiously. "A couple of days." He tells me, he sounded like he hasn't had a drink of water in a couple of hours.
"Have you had a break?" I asked. Wondering if Daryl gives breaks. Which it's different because he could make it where they didn't get breaks. It was still wrong to treat your pack wrongly.
"Well then go on break." I tell him. He just gives me a sideways look. "Go Alpha's orders."
I smiled to myself, Daryl was going to be so pissed and I didn't give a fuck. I couldn't wait to see what he does. I wished I had my drawing journal, the field was beautiful with its trees of freshly grown apples, tomatoes, and what looked like corn.
I don't know how long I sat there, just staring at the trees, looking for anything to do but go back to Daryl to Jake to the fact that Leah killed herself.
"JOYCE!" Daryl's voice broke the peacefulness of the garden I sat at.
I rolled my eyes here we do. "Yes," I tell him sweetly.
"Did you tell my men to leave and go on break?" Daryl growled the man I had talked to stood behind Daryl and wouldn't meet my eyes.
That made me mad, that Daryl didn't care for his people all he cared about was power and that meant treating humans, people who needed him to be his leader like shit.
"Yes, I did and I'd do it again Daryl." I growled at him. "These people have worked hard and they work great for you but your a piece of shit who over work them and look at them! They need food and water and BREAKS!"
"Your job isn't to tell my men what to do!" Daryl growled at me. "Your supposed to be inside, doing household jobs."
My jaw dropped, what the hell does that mean? Or does that mean he wants me to be in kitchen cooking food for him, to raise his children, to be locked away from everyone to stay inside being a housewife? Fuck no.
"I hope karma comes for you." I snapped at him. I walk past him making sure my shoulder hits his with enough force to knock him on his ass.

Luck Lockyer
Luck Lockyer was the type of man to smirk in the dark, the expression not for anyone but himself. One of perpetual amusement. The bright side of things were hard to find in the shade yet his amber eyes were always searching. The smirk was his default, he knew it, his friends knew it, his family knew it. It was his most natural state. But the death of everyone close to you can affect a downwards curve on the mouths of even the most stoic people. Without purpose, without anyone to do the job for, Luck Lockyer found himself inside an empty forgotten church. The perpetual smirk on his face had slipped to a thin line, his scar more noticeable now than ever before. His amber eyes, the windows to his soul, dull and lifeless. To anyone who knew him, it was the clothing that gave away his mental state, denim pants and a plain black t-shirt. If that wasn't enough, the tears running down his face certainly would, the echoing sobs of a broken man rang across the rundown church. It was on a whim, but Luck Lockyer prayed, he prayed for many things, for death, revenge, friends, but the one prayer dominating his thoughts, a second chance for his family. That was all he wanted. Simple. It was then, on the outskirts of a polluted city, in an abondoned lot, in a forgotten church that Luck Lockyer, the Devil of the Cards, the Bloodless Hand, the Amber Demon, the Broken, was answered by a being from another world and one from his. *found the picture online

A loose thread
The goddess picked him up. He tried to struggle free, but her grip only tightened. Eventually her thumb caught his head, pulling it backwards. He stared helplessly as she brought her free hand closer, revealing a small vial in her massive hand. She pressed it to his lips, and he felt the contents flow into him. He tried not to drink it, but his body would not listen. Despite his revulsion, his body ignored him by drinking deeply. "Drink and forget. I will give you everything you ever wanted. A loving family. A comfortable home. And then, " Her grip tightened, and forcing the air out his lungs. He coughed up the strange liquid and caused more to spill. “And then, you will pay for your defiance. On your twentieth birthday you will remember.” She pulled the vial away and turned him to look at her. “You will remember, just as everything you love is taken from you, right before your eyes…” Her voice trailed off and his world went dark. .... The above leads right into the story. The first chapter is a bit rough as the MC (a child at the time), hurts himself rather badly. I will try to include similar warnings on chapters as the story goes on, but I want to be up front that I may miss or forget things. Many of the tags are included so I can have flexibility writing the story. I am posting this largely to hold myself accountable to keep writing. Chapters will be short, but I am planning to post weekly. This is the first thing I have written (you've been warned). I am enjoying the story and I hope you will too. Please feel free to let me know what you think of the story as it progresses.
