《Mine to Protect (Completed)》Chapter 36

Sophia’s POV
Crap that hurt. My head was throbbing. Opening my eyes I looked around noticing that I was no longer in Knox’s office. Shit now where am I at? Where ever it is, it sure is beautiful. Wonder if this is how Dorothy felt in the Wizard of Oz.
Lush green hills were littered with wild flowers. It was a park of some sort as I followed the path that led me towards a gazebo. Birds chirped in the air and butterflies fluttered around. I sensed nothing but peace and harmony. If there was a heaven, I felt like this was it. My angst and stress seemed to suddenly disappear as I walked down the path.
Come to think of it, my headache magically vanished as well. Yeah okay so this is a nice place and this is the most relaxed I have ever felt, but that still doesn’t tell me where the fuck I am at.
Language Gaea
What, who, where…and then there sitting in the gazebo were three of the most stunning women I have ever seen. They were radiant. Their beauty was pure and natural, when each smiled her face shined with love and happiness.
Who were these women?
“We are the Moirai or better known as the three fates. I am Clotho, the one who spins the thread of life. My sister to the left is Lachesis, who draws the lots and determines how long one lives, by measuring the thread of life. And last to my right is Atropos, the inevitable, she is who choses how someone dies by cutting the thread of life.
And we summoned you to inform you that we did not screw up. We know exactly what we are doing when we created you. And to please stop cursing at us as it hurts our feelings.

We have another job that was dictated by you, Goddess Mother, when you created us was that we would also be the keeper of the souls of the fallen. We have protected your soul safely for centuries, but we saw that it was time to allow for your return.”
Lachesis stepped forward and grabbed my hand, drawing me into the gazebo. I was speechless and just followed her lead.
“Come and sit. As my sister was explaining that we saw that the time had come for you to reign again. See when your mother became pregnant she was unaware that the royal bloodline ran through your father, who by the way was killed days after you were conceived. The Grand Council was unaware that you existed and they still are. He was the last of the bloodline, one that remained hidden for centuries.
Then Atropos visited your grandmother, who is a great and powerful witch. She was awaiting your arrival that day to confirm what we told her. That to protect you, she must bind your powers so that you have a chance of surviving until adulthood.
We brought you to your mate the first chance we had as many obstacles stood in our way. Now that you have been united, your destiny can begin.”
“What destiny is that?” I asked.
Clotho took over once again. “It is told by the oracles that one day the royal bloodline will return. In order to defeat the evilness of the Grand Council, the wolf will need to be the strongest of all. It was Atropos’s idea to allow the soul of Gaea to be blended with the royal bloodline, making you unstoppable. Your powers have no limit. And therefore you have the ability to not only defeat the Council, but to rebuild the world as you once created it to be.

Many have suffered at the hands of the Council, many have perished, tortured and imprisoned. With you, they have a chance to live again. You must keep the balance of good and evil, otherwise if evil takes full control, our entire world is in danger.”
This was so confusing. “I understand the why and after learning all the evil things the Council has done I get that, but why me? I am not strong even though this power runs through me. I am weak and scared.”
Smiling the three fates grabbed my hands.
Atropos spoke up. “Goddess, there was a reason that you had to live the life you did. You say you are weak, but you are not, you are compassionate. You don’t harm unless needed - being fiercely protective. You say you are scared but you are a survivor, fighting for your freedom.
You will be a fair and just ruler. You will not seek justice unless it is needed. You will guide your people not control them. You will allow balance to return to a world in chaos. These are the qualities that a true ruler possess. Qualities that YOU possess, because you have learned what it is like to live as those who still suffer do. You know the truth behind pure fear and that is why you are perfect to help those who still live that way. You are their salvation to a better life.
And it is time you stop doubting yourself and believe in your abilities, not only as a goddess, but as a Queen and the mother to all our kind. It is time for you to return to your rightful place.”
They were right. I mean I still thought all this was slightly insane, but it was time to stop doubting what was going on…I mean how much more proof did I need…I mean I was sitting with the three fates.
“Um…why do I not remember my life before, since my soul once lived? It would be easier if I could remember my life before as Gaea.”
Clotho answered. “A soul that is given rebirth will still possess the same powers, but not the memories. Those remain with the body. The reborn soul has the ability to live a new life with a new fate, not repeating the old one.”
Nodding, that made sense, not sure how but it did. I didn’t want to live someone else’s life, this was mine.
“Now Goddess know that we are here for you as you have always been there for us. Please follow your heart and trust your instincts. They have never failed you in the past. We must cut our visit short as your mate is starting to freak out as they say now a days. Return to him and stand by his side. He will help you on your journey.”
Leaning over Clotho gave me a kiss on the cheek, darkness clouded my vision…great, not again….

MeiQ: Lore of the Labyrinth
Omaros City lays near one of several Yggdrasil trees that are scattered around the world. Each tree holds an entire labyrinthine ecosystem within or beneath it, yet the mysteries of their origins and what lays in their depths are only ever unraveled by the most skilled and courageous of explorers. Exploration of Omaros' Yggdrasil labyrinth is still in its fledgling stages, drawing in many with the allure of fame and glory that has yet to be claimed. Enter the harbinger Dubhan—cheerful, determined, and not terribly skilled at thinking ahead—and warlock Allouet— intelligent and resourceful, but desperately in over his head. Together, the two of them have half an idea of what they're doing at best, but that's not going to stop them from aiming for the labyrinth's unknown depths. MeiQ is, at its core, a fanfiction inspired by the Etrian Odyssey franchise, alternatively known as Sekaiju no Meikyuu in Japan. Despite that, it is written with the intent to be enjoyable by those unfamiliar with the series as well. The characters and the city of Omaros are original, while the story draws upon lore and recurring concepts from the game series. However, Etrian Odyssey is known for its lore being sparse and open to speculation, so much of the details provided in this story are exactly that—a fan’s speculation and personal expansion of the lore. This story was also inspired by and written as part of HereBeTreasure's Fast Food Frontpage Competition, enjoy some simple dungeon exploration plot and whatever else pops up from this.
